How to Have Your First Kiss

Pinkie looks to the mare in front of her, and smiles warmly. The mare was beautiful; long, pink mane, smooth butter yellow coat, and the butterflies adorning her flank, known as her cutie mark. She smiles back. The pegasus's soft eyes look up towards the roof, and her smile fades and her pupils become nonexistent. Curious as to what caused this reaction, Pinkie follows teh mare's gaze, and gets the same reaction. There, hanging by a few pieces of thread, was a small green plant with leaves of a spiky edge, much like the needles of a pine tree. It had small red berries at teh center where the leaves were sprouting.

Pinkie thinks of the outcome of this unfortunate encounter, as herself and the animal caretaker before her are too frightened to move.

Ruined friendship? I wouldn't like that, losing a friend is like losing a puzzle piece of yourself. It's not nice losing a friend, it leaves a big hole inside, eating you up until you give into sadness. But, I've always kinda liked her... Is it okay to think of a close friend like that? I don't know! What if she doesn't feel the same way? Or is actually a... Pinkie gasped inside, a HOMOPHOBE!? Then, after this, she'd hate me forever! Homophobes are such meanies, the way they are disgusted at fillyfoolers and coltcuddlers. I mean, what's so wrong about being one of those? It's not like you're an alien once your orientation is out for the public to see. They have rights too! Right, right, I'm getting sidetracked, as usual. Oh, wait... What if she runs away and never sees me again? What if she goes out to some barren wasteland and... Dies? But, I can't avoid this now, to avoid it would be against teh Hearth's Warming rules! So, I'm sorry, Fluttershy. I have to do this.

Pinkie took in a deep breath of the chilling winter air before letting it out, back where it was before. Slowly, she leaned in to the friend she admired so, the cold air threatening to harden her lips. But, her warm breath wouldn't allow it, making some vapor appear with every breath she let out. Her anticipation was at its peak as she smelt the breath of the other; peaches and yellow cherries, combining to make an amazing smell Pinkie couldn't get enough of. And, after a few more seconds of leaning, Pinkie had made contact with the other's lips. They were unbelievably soft, much like how the clouds felt under her hooves when she stood on them for the first time, when Rainbow Dash entered the Best Young Fliers competition. Pinkie's hindlegs were now hovering in the air, her hindhooves near her shoulders. Her tail was what kept her balanced through this, and she silently thanked for her tail's ability to hold at least half of her weight.

Pinkie's cheeks burned a temperature that seemed to rival Celestia's very sun, and her face could burn up in flames, her cheeks were burning so hot. Pinkie, now, was getting lost in the moment, and opened her mouth slightly, allowing for her tongue to come through and lick at teh other's lips. Then, Fluttershy instantly parted, much to Pinkie's dismay, her face red from ebarrassment, and chuckled nervously.

"Pinkie... I'm straight..." Fluttershy said, attempting to look away from Pinkie. Pinkie lifted a hoof, pressed it against her cheek, and moved her face so that she was facing her, she looked at Her with lidded eyes, and the perfect words formulated into a reply to the statement the shy Pegasus made.

"So is spaghetti until it gets wet!"

Fluttershy sees the mare before her look at her and smile warmly. The smile was an infectious smile, infectious like the featherflu and Measlepox. So, she couldn't help but smile back. Fluttershy sees something green out the top of her eye, so, curious, she looks up to see what it was. What she saw wasn't what she had wanted to be caught under with a close friend. It was a small green plant, leaves all pointy, like a hedgehog or porcupine she would take care of, with small berries as red as some wounds her animals would make her worry about, all being held suspended in the air by some seemingly unnoticeable thread.

Fluttershy was frozen in place by fear of not knowing what to do. She could see her dear friend in the same state, and started to worry about worst case scenarios.

Oh, no... This is bad! This is really, really bad! I'm straight! What do I tell Pinkie? Oh, my, what do I tell my friends if they find out? I really don't want them to be grossed out by the fact that we had to kiss. But, that's all it is, right? Just a harmless... Completely platonic... Kiss... Wait!! What if Pinkie likes me? As in... Likes me likes me? What do I tell her about my orientation? Would I just say it, and be done with it? Will it leave her crushed, or worse? Oh, no... I wouldn't be able to live normally knowing that I hurt a close friend so badly. But... It would be her fault, for liking me... No, stop it, Fluttershy! This will all be over with in a second and we'll both be thinking nothing of it, right?

Fluttershy could see Pinkie slowly leaning in, and she mentally — and physically — steeled herself. Her warm breath created small amounts of steam in the air, soon disappearing, to be forgotten as an irrelevant puff of smoke. Fluttershy had the impulse to suck in her lips, so that she looked like an older pony without teeth, but she chose not to. Soon, Pinkie was mere centimeters away, and Fluttershy panicked inside. Pinkie emitted a nice scent; cotton candy and cookies fresh from the oven. Fluttershy couldn't help but love the smell. Then, their lips locked. Fluttershy's cheeks burned with embarrassment, and could feel Pinkie shifting her weight. Pinkie's lips were unbelievably soft, much like Fluttershy's pillows on her bed.

Fluttershy suddenly felt Pinkie's tongue lapping at her lips, and instantly pulled away, chuckling nervously. She saw that her face was completely red, and she looked sad that she pulled away.

"Pinkie... I'm straight..." Fluttershy states, trying to look away from Pinkie. She felt a hoof on her cheek, and her face was moved to look straight at the other. Fluttershy saw Pinkie looking at her with lidded eyes, loathing what she thought the answer was going to be.

"So is spaghetti until it gets wet!"

Oh... Oh, my...

Later...

"Pssst!"

"Ugghhh.... Not now, Rarity...."

"I need to tell you something, Pinkie!"

"What do you want?"

"That was holly, not mistletoe."

"It was? Oh well. Too late, now!"
