Pinkie Pie's Invitation Emergency

by Little-Miss-Minty

A Party Pony's Problem

Bwong! Bwong! Bwong!

Pinkie Pie bounced up and down, happy as always... well, almost always.

She was planning a party, something she did practically daily. On this particular day, she was delivering invitations to Lyra Heartstrings' surprise birthday party. Ooh, it was going to be so much fun! Cake, balloons, music, and most importantly, all of Lyra's friends!

Pinkie's backpack bounced with her. And as she bounded, the backpack also bounded. Soon enough, one of the flaps came loose and somepony's invitation dropped out with another bounce. Unfortunately, ignorant little Pinkie Pie didn't realize this until it was too late.

As she arrived at Fluttershy's cottage, Pinkie waved at the birds and animals that often hung around. She knocked on the door.

"Helloooooo Fluuuuuuuuttershyyyyyyy!" She yelled

Fluttershy opened the door with a smile. "Well hello there, Pinkie! How are you today?" She asked, in her adorable, sing-song voice.

"I'm doing very well, actually!" Pinkie sat down to pull the invitation out of her backpack. With the invitation still in her mouth, she said, "Heref izf yor infitatifun foo Fraya's birfday pawrfty." She stood up.

Fluttershy cocked her head in confusion.

Pinkie gave the somewhat-soggy invitation to Fluttershy. "Excuse me," she cleared her throat, "I said 'here is your invitation to Lyra's birthday party."

Fluttershy nodded. "Oh, how fun! My schedule is pretty much empty, so I'm sure I'll be able to come."

"Awesome! It's a surprise, so don't tell her! I hope you can make it, it'll be spectacular!" Pinkie smiled even wider than before. "Have a great day, Fluttershy!"

As Pinkie skipped off, Fluttershy yelled- or rather said loudly- "You too!" And with that, the yellow pony shut the door.

Pinkie was to deliver Bon Bon's invitation next. Bon Bon was, after all, Lyra's best friend.

She walked up to Bon Bon's front door and took in her surroundings.

Bon Bon lived in the center of Ponyville, where it always seemed quite busy. The aroma from Bon Bon's house was sweet, and smelled like candy. Boy, did Pinkie love candy...

She closed her eyes and felt the breeze in her curly, cotton candy-like mane.

Just as she found ultimate happiness, Bon Bon opened the door and shouted, "Hey Pinkie! What can I do for you?"

Pinkie woke up from her little dream and shook to life. "Oh, hi Bon Bon." She smiled a toothy grin.

"How are you doing today?" Bon Bon asked.

"Very well! In fact, I have a little something for you!" Pinkie continued to smile wide as she sat down to grab Bon Bon's invitation. Bon Bon smiled happily, awaiting her surprise.

But there was a problem. Pinkie couldn't find it. Anywhere. "I'm sure it's in here somewhere..." she mumbled, as her pink hoof dug around the bag.

"It's okay; I don't really need anything, Pinkie," Bon Bon said. But secretly, she wanted to know what this special something was.

Gradually getting more and more upset and confused, Pinkie responded with a loud "Yes you do! This is a very special something!"

"Oh really? What would that be?" Bon Bon was as impatient as a filly on Hearth's Warming morning. She was really excited.

"IT'S YOUR INVITATION TO LYRA'S SURPRISE BIRTHDAY PARTY!!!!!!!" Pinkie screamed.

"Shhh!" Bon Bon ran over to Pinkie, shoving her hoof in the loud pony's mouth. "Lyra lives next door! She could've heard you!"

"Oh!" Pinkie suddenly hushed down, and Bon Bon removed her hoof. "Sorry about that," she whispered. Pinkie bit her lip as the the two mares stared at Lyra's cottage. Luckily, they didn't see a certain sea-green pony peering out her window.

Bon Bon and Pinkie sighed a breath of relief.

"I need to get you that invitation!" Pinkie exclaimed, still whispering.

"Trust me, Pinkie, It's fine. I know, and you know, that I will be coming to Lyra's party." Bon Bon patted Pinkie's head.

"No! It's not fine! Not fine at all! That is YOUR invitation! I NEED to find it! And when I find it, I need to give it to YOU!" Pinkie was very upset, and by the end of her little outburst, she grabbed Bon Bon by the shoulders and forcefully shook her several times.

"Okay, okay," Bon Bon chuckled. "I'll help."

"Great!" Pinkie exclaimed. "Now... If I were an invitation, where would I be?" She tapped her chin with her hoof. "Oh! I know! We'll check with Fluttershy! She was the pony whom I visited first."

"Awesome, let's go there!" Bon Bon started to trot away, and Pinkie followed.

Soon, they arrived at Fluttershy's cottage. Bon Bon knocked on the door, asking "Hello?"

Fluttershy quickly opened the door. "Hello Bon Bon," She said. She then looked at Pinkie. "And hi Pinkie, again." She smiled, blushing a little. "What can I do for you?"

"By chance, have you seen Bon Bon's invitation to Lyra's party?" Pinkie questioned.

"No, I'm afraid not, sorry." She frowned. Suddenly, her face lit up again, "But I'll help you look!"

"Yay! Thanks, Fluttershy!" Pinkie hugged the pegasus.

"So where to next?" Bon Bon asked.

"Hmmm..." Pinkie thought, once again rubbing her chin. "Maybe Rarity saw it? She helped me design them. And I can deliver her's then, too!"

"Yeah! Great idea," Bon Bon exclaimed.

The three mares travelled to Rarity's Carousel Boutique. Fluttershy knocked on the extravagant door, saying "Hello, Rarity?"

Rarity answered the door. "Hello there, darlings! How may I assist you, Bon Bon, Fluttershy, Pinkie?"

"Hey Rarity!" Pinkie said. "Have you seen Bon Bon's invitation around?"

"Hmmm..." Rarity thought. "I don't believe I have." She frowned, Rarity hated letting anypony down. "I'll help you look for it, though!' And a smile returned to her face.

All four ponies smiled and Bon Bon exclaimed, "Great!"

"So where to next?" Fluttershy asked.

"I think we should go to Twilight's." Bon Bon said.

"Twilight? Why her, dear?" Rarity asked the very confident Bon Bon.

"Because," Bon Bon explained, "She is one of the smartest and most observant ponies in all of Equestria, is she not?" The other three nodded. "And plus," she stopped and smiled for a second, blushing, "I really want to see her castle!"

"Oh, okay." Fluttershy smiled. "Let's go there!"

As the ponies walked up the the Friendship Rainbow Kingdom Castle, Pinkie found Rarity's invitation in her backpack and gave it to her. At least she could find her invitation.

The ponies approached Twilight's castle in awe. Even though three out of the four ponies had been there many times before, it still amazed them all.

Bon Bon grabbed the knocker and slammed it against the door a few times. Spike opened it.

"Oh hey there," he said. "Are you guys looking for Twilight?"

The four mares nodded their heads.

"Okay! Come on in, she should be in the library." Spike opened the door farther, and the ponies stepped inside. Making sure not to catch their tails in the door, he shut it after them. "Follow me, ladies," he said, ushering them to the library. After a bit of a walk, he stopped in front of two tall doors. "Here we are, the library." He opened the door in a gentlemanly fashion and left the ponies to talk in privacy.

"Thanks, Spike!" The ponies shouted down the hall. They could here a faint "You're welcome" in response.

Twilight got up from the book she was reading and addressed her visitors. "Hello everypony!" She said. Suddenly, she noticed Pinkie Pie. "Pinkie! I was looking all over for you! Girls, please come in, sit down."

Bon Bon continued to admire the beautiful architecture around her. She thought the whole this was positively magnificent. The five mares took seats in front of a warm, welcoming fireplace.

"So Twilight," Pinkie began, dropping the backpack off of her back and making herself comfortable in a bean-bag chair. "Have you seen Bon Bon's invitation to Lyra's surprise birthday party?"

"Yes, actually." Twilight smiled as she got off of the floor and trotted over to a desk. Using the magic from her horn, she picked up a sea-green envelope with the name "Bon Bon" inscribed on it in curly pink lettering. "I found this lightly trod upon in the streets of Ponyville. Maybe it fell out of your bag?" She dropped the envelop in Pinkie's lap.

Pinkie got up and hugged Twilight. "Oh thank you," she said. "We've been looking for this all morning."

Pinkie picked the envelope up from the floor with her teeth, and bowing her head, she said, "Yor infitatifun, mel'lafdy." She handed the invitation to Bon Bon.

Bon Bon laughed. "Thank you, Pinkie," she said.

"Well, isn't this lovely." Fluttershy said, smiling.

Pinkie suddenly remembered the backpack on the floor. She dug around in it, but thankfully found Twilight's invitation. She handed it to her.

"Thanks, Pinkie," The princess said.

The five ponies looked around and smiled at each other for a moment.

"Well, I do need to deliver the rest of these invitations." She read aloud some of the names in which she had to deliver invitations to. "Apple Jack... Minuette... Derpy... Rainbow Dash... Twinkleshine..." Pinkie then looked at the ponies around her. "Care to join me?" Pinkie elbowed Bon Bon.

All the ponies yelled a "Yeah!" and they were off, delivering invitations to ponies all around Ponyville.
