//------------------------------// // Chapter 2: Coming home again // Story: Young Love Short Stories // by Nightglimmer22 //------------------------------// Chapter edited by Brickbrock24 I sat on the blue double seats of the train, staring out the window. They really should make an effort to improve the seating arrangements, because my wings were unbearably sore from having to sit in such a crammed train car for over two hours. I was bored out of my mind. I literally had nothing better to do than to stare out the window and count the trees that the train passed. I felt the train slow down and eventually come to a stop. An announcement came on through the speakers in the train to tell us what station we were at. Only three more stops until Ponyville. Three freaking stops… Ugh... I tried not to look at the people getting off the train, because a lot of them were reuniting with their loved ones. Great, just great! Now I’ve got nothing but her on my mind and that’s just going to make this train ride feel like it’ll go on for another six years! Oh, why couldn’t this train just skip all the stops between Ponyville? After what seemed like an eternity, the train finally made its stop at Ponyville. I quickly got up when I realized this was my stop. I gathered my things, which were packed in a small drawstring bag, and hurried out the door. The platform was crowded with people, many of whom were coming back for the holiday break. The sun was in the worst possible position in the sky; but I wasn’t going to let that stop me from finding my special someone! The crowds slowly began to thin as more and more people left the station. When I finally caught a glimpse of a rainbow mane turned away from me, I felt like I had found a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. I made a beeline straight toward her and did what I always did. Slowly and carefully, I laid my chin on the top of her head; then wrapped my arms around her so that I could feel her warmth. She sighed, then turned to face me. As she laid her hands on my chest, I noticed a tear was rolling down her cheek. I reached my hand up and with the back of my hand, I wiped it away with a single swipe. She suddenly wrapped her arms around me and hugged me back tighter than I had to her. Her warmth helped me endure the chilling winds that were blowing around us. We were so close that I could feel her heart beat against my chest. It was excitedly fluttering at a fast tempo. After a moment of silence, I leaned closer and, at the same time, pushed her closer. I could feel her warm breath on my chin. I turned my head to one side and brushed my lips on hers. I looked into her eyes. Her face was slightly pink, like cotton candy. She brought her arms from around my chest to my shoulders and kissed me back. This time, it was more powerful and filled with twice as much love than when I kissed her. I pulled away after a few seconds. I leaned in close to her ear and whispered, "I missed you."
