7: Spirited Away

The large pool glowed with an unworldly light. Luna stared at her reflection in horror. Nightmare Moon stood in the reflection, lovely but as cold as space itself.
"Absolute power corrupts." Luna jerked.
Nue padded up to the pool. Nue's dark eyes reflected and glowed with the unworldly light. Luna turned her attention to the pool and resisted the urge to run. Nue was not reflected in the pool!
"Welcome to the Mirror." Nue intoned.
"Y-your reflection?" Luna stepped back.
Nue ignored her sudden fear. "The Mirror show you your deepest desire - past, present, and future."
A chill went her spine. "What of yours?"
Nue's blue-tinted eyes gazed at her for a long moment. "... I am what I am, Luna Moonraiser."
Luna's eyes grew the size of plates. "How do you know that title?"
Nue's stone facade lifted enough so a cool smile curled around her mouth. "Books."
Luna's brow furrowed. Nue stretched like a cat.
"Many assume I am more than I am. You are not the first, nor will you be the last."
"What are you then?" Luna inquired.
Nue looked at her over her shoulder. "A reflection."
