//------------------------------// // Chapter 13 - Anxiety, Relief and the End for Now // Story: The Other Ones of Me (A Mass Effect Crossover) // by DragonsHeart //------------------------------// Twilight wakes up, though she wishes she didn’t. For today is the day when Shepard has to die by Twilight’s own hooves. Twilight drags herself out of bed and checks her clock. It is 1:20! She has slept in! She rushes to her bedroom door and opens it, only to run face first into Applejack. “Ow! What’s the rush, Twilight?” Applejack says, rubbing her now sore snout. “Sorry, I just slept in and realized how late it is,” Twilight says, rubbing her equally sore muzzle. “That’s good,” says Rarity, standing beside Applejack, “We thought you had disappeared like Shepard had.” “Shepard has disappeared!?!” Twilight yells, panicking. “Yeah, when we came over we couldn’t find you or Shepard anywhere until now,” explains Rainbow Dash, who is flying nearby. “Spike is missing too,” adds Fluttershy. “Oh no, what could of happened!” Twilight panics, “What if Shepard left to kill herself, and what if Spike left to help her so I wouldn’t have too!” “Calm down, Twilight!” Applejack says, trying to calm down the frantic Alicorn. “I sure Spike wouldn’t do something like that,” adds Rarity. “But… but…” Twilight says, not calming down. “But we should go look for them,” confirms Applejack. The girls nod and with Twilight at the head of them rush out the door, only for Twilight to trip over the missing dragon that was standing on the front porch. “Ow! What’s the rush, Twilight?” moans Spike, as he picks himself off the ground. Pinkie giggles, “He said the same thing as Applejack.” Twilight grabs and tightly hugs the young dragon, “I was worried about you, Spike!” “Twilight stop it!” Spike yells, trying to remove himself from the alicorn’s grip, “It’s embarrassing!” “Spike, do you know where Shepard is?” Twilight asks, letting go of the dragon. “Shepard? Isn’t she right…?” Spike tries to say, looking around him. “We fear she may have gone to kill herself,” states Rarity. “But Shepard is…” Spike tries to say again. “Do you know where she is, Spike,” asks Pinkie. “She was…” Spike tries to say again. “Sorry Spike,” says Shepard, walking up to the dragon, carrying a bag of shopping, “Got stuck in a conversation with Derpy, by time I finished you had walked away.” She then noticed the six girls surprised looks. “What?” “Shepard, you’re better!?” yells Twilight, shocked, for Shepard looks much better, she looks like she did a few weeks ago but better. Her fur and hair have been washed and combed, her eyes no longer look tired but sharp and powerful and she seems stronger. “Yeah and it is all thanks to you returning my dog-tags,” Shepard says, pulling the objects in question out her hoodie. The rest of the girls give Twilight a confused look, wondering what is going on. “But I thought they didn’t work,” Twilight says, just as confused. “What made you think that?” Shepard asks, raising her eyebrow. “Well you didn’t say anything… and you looked pained,” Twilight mumbles, having trouble dealing with this. “Sorry, I believed if I spoke too much I would throw up,” Shepard explains, “You see, remembering everything is quite painful when it is forced back into your head.” “Did you know about this, Spike?” Rarity asks the dragon. “Yeah, I was trying to tell you before, but everypony kept interrupting me,” Spike explains, “I found Shepard this morning as she was having breakfast and she explained everything to me.” “Well why didn’t you wake me up and tell me?!” cries Twilight, both relieved and frustrated. “We didn’t want to wake you up after the week you’ve had,” answers Shepard, “So we decided to wait until you wake up.” “So while we were waiting we went to do some shopping,” adds Spike. “Soooo, Shepard is alright now?” Pinkie asks, leaning forwards. “Yep,” answers Spike. “So she won’t die anymore?” Pinkie asks, leaning further forward. “Nope,” answers Shepard. “Then you know what this calls for…? Pinkie says, couching down. “No…” Shepard says, her solider senses telling her to back off a bit. “A PARTY!!!” Pinkie yells, jumping up in the air in an explosion of confetti. “Why do you think we went shopping,” Spike says, smiling. “Yeah, let’s do this!” Rainbow Dash says, glad about this sudden turn of events. Everyone happily starts walking into the library, ready to celebrate Shepard’s recovery and Twilight’s success, leaving behind a smiling Shepard and a stunned Twilight, who still hasn’t completely gotten over the fact that she actually did it. “Well, here we are,” notes Shepard, “And I’m still alive.” “What?” Twilight says, returning to the real world. “You did it, Twilight,” answers Shepard, smirking at the confused alicorn, “Although I won’t ask where you found my dog tags.” “Yeah, sorry about that. I had them the whole time but I forgot,” Twilight apologies. “Well good thing you did remember,” Shepard says, smiling. “Yeah, it was,” Twilight says, returning the smile. “Well, let’s head inside,” Shepard says, heading for the door. Twilight is about to follow her when she remembers something. “Shepard, wait!” she calls after Shepard. “Hmm?” Shepard says, stopping. Twilight runs up beside Shepard. “You haven’t told me your name yet?” Shepard blinks a few times and then smiles. She leans down and moves her mouth next to Twilight’s ear and whispers. “My name is Raven. Raven Shepard.”
