The one that is pink

The new bearers of the elements of harmony were called into Celestia's castle as soon as Celestia had made up her mind. If Discord chose the path of good then the elements would not have to be used. However, if Discord continued to follow the path of selfishness then he would be turned back to stone, never to be seen again.

Moments later the girls arrived, each representing an element of harmony. Celestia ushered them into the hall, one by one answering their questions towards the strange happenings around Equestria. She enquired the girls that everything could be put back to normal using the elements. She then placed the tip of her horn into a small hole in the wall, and using a secret spell, opened a door to a small cupboard, containing a gem encrusted box. Lifting the box carefully out of its place, Celestia held it up to show the six ponies. Next, she opens the box, ensuring that no elements would fall on the floor and break, but at that very moment a line of gasps came from the six young ponies standing before, taking her by surprise. The elements were gone!

" I don't understand, only I can open that door, this doesn't make any sense!" Celestia spluttered.

A echoing voice came in reply, "Make sense? Oh, what fun is there in making sense?!"

Celestia knew exactly who this was. She had said these words once herself, a long, long time ago. It had all started on a usual, boring day. Celestia had Princess duties to do. Luna was whining because she didn't have any Princess duties to do and the Everfree was far from invading. Celestia was bored. Suddenly, a royal guard came rushing in:

" Princess Celestia, you must look outside, Equestria is in chaos!"

Finally, something interesting to do. Celestia thought before racing outside to sum up the situation. Everything was completely messed up. Houses had been turned upside-down, animals were acting strangely and pink clouds floated the sky. In the centre of the whole thing stood a throne, a throne seating the strangest-looking creature she'd ever seen!

"Ahh, Celestia, I was wondering when you'd show up, do you like what I've done with the place?" The creature asked.

Celestia looked around, still trying to take in everything that was going on.

"Oh how rude of me not to introduce myself, I'm Discord, spirit of chaos and disharmony, its a pleasure to meet you!" Discord said as he took Celestia's hoof, shaking it wildly.

After the 'hoof shake', Celestia began to speak:

"Well Discord, I just have one thing to say to you."

She leaned in closer.

"Thank you." She whispered.

Discord was more than a little taken back by this.

"What?! You're not supposed to thank me! I've just turned you're whole world upside-down, I'm supposed to be you're enemy! That doesn't make sense!"

Celestia laughed.

"What fun is there in making sense?"

The words now rattled through Celestia's mind. For all those years she had not heard those words, but now, in a blink of an eye, they had forced their way back into her life. This time, not spoken by her, but by Discord, her first true love, and yet a sworn enemy. Celestia didn't know if she should be overjoyed or extremely angry. On one hoof, she was happy to once again hear Discord's voice, but on the other, it disheartened her slightly that the first words she heard from him after such a long while were making a mockery of the words she had once spoken.

Celestia mused this over several times inside her head before her daydream was torn apart, not by making a final decision over whether she should be happy or annoyed, but because of something that Discord had said. Something that disturbed her a lot. It shouldn't have disturbed her, but it did. But what was this overwhelming feeling that had so suddenly come over her? Rage? Anger? Confusion? Jealousy? No, it couldn't be, Princesses don't get jealous... Do they?!

The words that were now ringing in her mind were growing stronger and stronger.

"Oh, and my personal favourite, laughter."

Celestia had always been Discord's personal favourite. She knew it wasn't the same, when Discord had been referring to her as his personal favourite, he had meant his favourite pony, this was his personal favourite element. They were completely different things. But what if he wasn't referring to the element, but the barer of the element herself, Pinkie pie?! What if Pinkie pie was his new favourite pony?! Of course it didn't really matter who his favourite pony was, but Celestia couldn't help but feel that the pink pony had stolen her spotlight just slightly. That pink one sure did like those chocolate rain and clouds of candyfloss, what if Discord had done that especially for her, just to show her how much he appreciated her?

Well, it was true, not that Discord had created the candyfloss and chocolate rain just for Pinkie Pie, but that he did appreciate her more than any of the other ponies, and that he was not only referring to her element, but of course, the pony herself when he had used the phrase 'personal favourite', that pink one had indefinitely made an impact upon him... But was this for the better?
