Season 1 Chapter 5: Night of the Werehog

"I thought it left when I beat the Dark Guardian." Jawsome muttered. It had been a month since Nightmare Night. A month since he got the curse of the Werehog (Fun times.). He'd been turning into the Werehog every night since then, and he was getting tired of it. Sure, it had been nice when he learned that basically everything that lived in the Everfree Forest was scared of him, but there wasn't really much else. Maybe Chaos had decided to watch him and as a cruel joke did this. If that was the case, the next time he saw the water god, he was gonna punch him right in the brain. Spikes dug into soft soil. He was treading the same path to Zecora's hut they had followed that day, carefully avoiding patches of Poison Joke (Not that his life could be any more of one.), and making the nightly potion rounds. He always had some stocked just in case. He was debating on becoming a brewmaster for a while, then decided against it. He had other things to do. Besides, he appreciated the night a little more, thanks to a friend.

Later...

"Well, I didn't get attacked, so that's another one up on the board." Jawsome said to himself. Suddenly, a freak rainstorm moved in. Jawsome was (of course), nowhere near Ponyville, but there was an old mansion right next to him. Thankfully, the clouds covered the moon, and he went back to normal hedgehog form. He raced towards the desiccated manor.

"Hello?" Jawsome called. "Hmm. Nothing. Well, I guess I'll wait out that storm here." He said. walking in. He whistled as he walked into the main foyer, noting the three stories and skylight above him, rain lashing against the glass. His wet footprints glistened as a bolt of lightning flashed in the sky.

"Hmmm." The ghost hummed to herself as she looked over the two most recent photos that her two brothers had taken. One showed a male earth pony with black hair and cobalt skin with his mouth wide open. The other showed a yellow haired unicorn with just his pearly whites showing. The first one was taken by her taller brother, whom she called Bandanna, after his neckwear of choice, the other shot by her shorter, wider brother Bow. (She still teased him about it from time to time.) "This!" The ghost, named Merina, held out Bow's picture. "Garbage." She tossed it like it was a fleck of dust. Bow sank down, speechless, as she floated over to her board where she kept the best ones. She pinned Bandanna's up, then kissed him on the cheek, in a sisterly way. As he flew around the room (Why he did that, she couldn't tell, boys were wierd.), she looked over her other wall, decorated with posters of the Wolfman. She knew he was a myth, but recently, she'd heard her brothers talking about the most recent Nightmare Night (The holidays in this universe were odd, but since that dimensional shear had stuck them here, they had to roll with the punches. (Well, they would pass right through them if they were concentrating. But it was an expression.)), and saying they'd sworn they heard something about a hedgehog that had turned into a wolf like form. She hoped it would be her dream of meeting the Wolfman, even if he was half hedgehog. As she thought about it, Bow turned and left, Band following shortly after.

'Whoa. Lot of stuff in here." Jawsome said, striding into what looked to be an old dining room. He walked past objects with sheets draped over them. As he looked behind him, he saw a ghost holding a camera. Acting quickly, he got into a 'camera pose' mere seconds before his picture was taken, then saw it was gone. Maybe lack of food was screwing with his head. As he wandered through the house, he could swear he saw the same ghost and another one attempting to scare him and take his photo, but you kind of don't get scared easily, when you've tore through a spirit of pure malevolence. He made some ridiculous photos every time, and unless those ghosts liked laughs, they weren't getting what they wanted."

"Uhhh.." "Err..." Band and Bow were very nervous. They hadn't managed to scare the red hedgehog at all. He always made a face or got into a pose right before they got his picture. It was almost like he was taunting them. Merina looked though each one of them. Every picture was humorous, but not up her alley. That hedgehog did look a little wolfish, with a fang in his mouth and everything, but that was besides the point. Way besides it. "So? Why did you bring me these? She asked, venom dripping from the last word. "We can't scare the guy." Band admitted, "He's just too fast and unscareable." Bow added. "Well, bring me some proper scare pictures." Merina said, then floated off. The two ghosts also left back into the mansion.

Jawsome walked down a corridor. He hadn't seen those spirits in a while, and he was starting to think maybe he was hungry. Then he heard a clank. From around the corner, a shadow moved into view. A metal hand grabbed the wall, and a suit of armor with green eyes clanked into view. Another one was approaching behind him, but Jawsome barely noticed. He was shaking. He held his hands over his ears, and fell to his knees. Band, inside the suit, lifted his camera. Finally, that hedgehog would learn his lesson. Outside the window, the clouds cleared to show the full moon. Jawsome then bolted upright, staring at the moon. He felt the wolf reemerging, once again transforming into the Werehog. The ghosts flew back to avoid getting smashed by his arms, the illusions of the armor fading as their cameras flashed some photos. Band looked up, and saw Jawsome snarling at him.

"Uhh... Sorry! Gotta run!" He said very quickly, then dashed over, grabbed Bow, and ran for it.

"What the heck was that all about?" Jawsome asked. He then wandered through the mansion until he found a sitting room. Finding stuff to make tea (A hobby since Sonic had visited Chun-Nan, they both hoped to return someday. Maybe after this crazy mess. They might have to screw around with time a little, or have Tikal revert everything, though.), he began to start brewing.

============================================================================================================

Merina was dying laughing. It was one thing when it was a proper scare photo. It was another thing when the photos she was laughing her (nonexistent) lungs out over were of them. "That's it!" Band said. He and Bow knew what they had to do. They clapped their hand's together and green fire blazed from their conjoined hands.

=============================================================================================================

Jawsome settled into the comfortable armchair next to the fireplace, a crackling fire blazing to dry off the spots he'd missed. Taking a sip of tea, he heard something. Instinct told him to reach out and grab the chandelier, and he did that, swinging around as... something, came up from the floor and looked just in time to see two spiked shoes followed by a ton of Werehog fill it's vision. Jawsome pushed, and flipped over, issuing a yell of challenge. He punched, but it merely passed through the thing. It then turned invisible.

"Oh, crap." Jawsome said moments before he was punched back into the main foyer, a camera flying out and hitting him. He saw a picture and noticed the thing was on there, and when he looked in real life, it wasn't. Piecing together his strategy, he carefully moved forward, snapping pictures, and blowing on them so they would show faster. It wasn't fast enough, as he was launched towards the skylight. flipping in midair, he came down claws sharp. He hit nothing, and wasn't ready to stop the hit that slammed him into a wall. He slumped into a sitting position, eyes closed. The camera levitated 'by itself', and the thing appeared, but then it split into Band and Bow, fighting over the chance to take the shot. Jawsome snapped back into consciousness while they were bickering, and tapped them on the shoulder. They looked behind then to see Jawsome's shoe flying towards them. They flew up into the air, Jawsome winding up a punch. The camera flashed when he got into his stance, and the ghosts flew off, into the night.

The next morning...

Jawsome walked out of the mansion. Seeing the sun, he once again transformed into his normal hedgehog form, and raced off.
