//------------------------------// // Two - One on One, For Once // Story: Keep Calm and Love On // by Kandy_the_Pony //------------------------------// After the incident earlier that day, things seemed to be running smoothly from the outside, but on the inside, not so much. It was the two sisters turn to make dinner that night. There are rumors claiming that the Apple family eats nothing but apple related foods every single meal, and if you to ask Discord, he would've thought so too. But once he saw sisters making hayburgers and a vegetable galore salad for dinner, he took a step back. Literally. "I thought you were the Apple family!" he exclaimed. "We... are," Applejack answered, confused. "Then why don't you eat apples all the time?" he asked. "Do ya eat chaotic matter all the time?" Applejack asked. Applebloom collapsed on the floor laughing. "Very funny," Discord muttered. "Same to you," Applejack replied. Heavy hoofsteps were heard coming down the stairs, but that didn't make Applebloom snort and cackle any quieter. "What happened now?" Big Mac asked. "I asked Applejack a question and I got bullied in return," Discord said. He snapped his claws and fell onto Rarity's fainting couch, mimicking a faint. "Why do ya make everythin' sound like Ah'm evil? If anythin', you're the one that's evil!" Applejack said. "Well you are being mean to me!" DIscord said, defending himself. "Uh huh, sure Ah am," she said sarcastically. At this point, Applebloom finally managed to calm herself down and get up off the floor. She quickly flipped over the hay before Big Mac asked her a question. "What actually happened?" he asked. "Okay. So Discord was behind us and asked us why we don't eat apples all the time, since our dinner isn't apple related. Then Applejack was all like: 'do ya eat chaotic matter all the time?' It was hilarious! I couldn't stop laughin' fer five minutes straight!" Applebloom explained. "Hm," was all Big Mac had to say. He then trotted off to do whatever he did before dinner time. Applejack was giving Discord a stare that wasn't on a nice spectrum. Discord finally gave up and snapped his claws, causing the fainting couch to disappear and for him to land on his tail. "Ouch, Applejack!" he whined. "Oh hush up!" Applejack said. She knew that he was trying to pull her hind leg. Discord got up and headed to his room. Now it was just Applejack and Applebloom again. This time, hoping that dinner wasn't burnt. Luckily, it wasn't. The family was all gathered at the table, eating contently. It was quieter than Applejack had thought. She guessed that the food had shut Discord up for once. "So," Discord blurted, a few family members jumped in their seats, "how was everyponies day today?" he asked. Speak of the devil and he will come. Or, speak of the chaos demon in your mind and he will jinx it for you. "Frustrain'," Applejack and Big Mac said in unison. "Disorientated," Applebloom said, using the new word she learned in school last week. "Huh? What was the question?" Granny Smith asked. "I said, how was everyponies day today?" Discord repeated. "Ooh! Um, I dunno," Granny Smith answered. "Well mine was fantastic!" Discord cheered. "Yea, I can imagine why," Applejack muttered. Discord raised an eyebrow. It sounded as though Applejack was sad. "Um... er," Discord trailed off. Shoot! How could he make Applejack happy. He suddenly got an idea. A light bulb literally appeared above Discord's head. He unscrewed it from the air and screwed it into his ear, processing the idea. He unscrewed the light bulb and snapped it away in a flash. He then snapped his claws again, causing the hayburger to have googly eyes. Applejack looked at the hayburger and jumped out of her seat. Literally. "Are you better now?" Discord asked. "No," Applejack answered. Discord frowned. "B-but that was a good effort," she added on. Silence carried out through the rest of dinner. Once dinner was over, it was Big Mac's turn to clean the dishes, so while he began to do his chore, Applebloom got herself ready for bed, and so did Granny Smith. Applejack made sure that the two sleepy ponies were tucked in. After doing so, she trotted into her room and locked herself in. She landed on her bed back first and took her hat off. She looked up at the ceiling of her room. She felt weird. She didn't know why she was feeling sad. She just was. There was a sudden knock at the door. Applejack was started a little but not too much. "May I come in?" a voice asked. "Sure," Applejack replied. A bright flash appeared in her room and Discord appeared. "Hey Applejack!" he greeted. She said nothing as she rolled over onto her side. Discord sighed. "Look, I know about what happened today, and I want you to be happy," Discord admitted. "Will ya apologize?" she asked. "Of course not!" Discord spat. "That's part of friendship. If ya do something wrong, whether it be on accident or on purpose, ya apologize," Applejack explained. "Well, what can I do to make you feel better?" Discord asked. "Apologize!" Applejack yelled. Discord flinched back a little, surprised by the tone Applejack had. He felt a pang of guilt. Guilt was an emotion DIscord hadn't felt in quite some time. He wanted to make it up to her, but at the same time, some part of him didn't want him to apologize. There was silence in the room. Who knew how long the silence lasted. Seconds, minutes, hours, days. "I'msorry," Discord spat out quickly. Applejack rolled over to face him. "What did ya say?" Applejack asked. DIscord fidgeted. For some reason, he felt a mix of emotions go wild in his stomach. Seeing Applejack lying on the bed like that, but still sad. "I... I'm sorry," Discord said. "Is that how you apologize?" Discord asked. Applejack suddenly grew a grin. "Yea," she said before chuckling. Discord couldn't help but laugh with the mare. The two had a good laugh together. They laughed for so long that they forgot what they were even laughing about in the first place. After a while, the two finally quieted down. They looked at each other. Discord turned around to make an exit. "Wait!" Applejack said, accidentally louder than she had intended. "What?" Discord asked. "Ah'm glad we could talk one on one... for once," Applejack said, giggling a little. All Discord did was nod and walk out of her room, through the locked door.
