Chapter One: A Strange New Land

"Whoa, what is this place? I've only heard about it from Twilight and her friends, as well as Lyra. Is this the human world? How am I supposed to blend in here, I'm a unicorn not a...Wait a minute, are those hands that I see and feet? Hmm, I guess that I look the part at least. Now comes the hard part though, trying to figure out how to walk on two feet and use these hands of mine. I hope that there is someone here to help me, because I don't even know where to begin," Nurse Redheart says to herself. Struggling to her feet, the young female falls several times before managing to stand. The next part is truly an adventure for her, as Redheart tries to figure out how to walk. Stumbling and falling, she most look ridiculous to the others around her. However someone in the crowd, sees her having trouble and rushes over to help her.
"Oh my, are you alright? Here, lean on me. I'll take you to my home, where we can talk," the stranger says with a smile.
Nurse Redheart nods and accepts the other young woman's help. She feels so embarrassed about not being able to walk. I must look like a fool out here. Why couldn't I have just cast a illusion spell on myself and remained an actual pony, that would have been so much easier. Redheart says feeling absolutely humiliated.
"I'm afraid that is not possible, Nurse Redheart. You see, a dark and extremely powerful foe has taken up residence there to make sure that what we seek is never found. Simple illusion spells would not trick her, nor escape her notice. Be wary, my dear friend, that this foe will do whatever they can to make this task of yours more difficult," Princess Luna communicates to her, through telepathy.
"Who is this that hates your family so much? How long have you been separated from this "Heart"? Also is there anything else that I need to know while I am here," Redheart ask, through telepathy.
"Just be careful out there, young mare. This foe will certainly have many allies in this world. Be wary and careful at who you trust and choose to work with. There will be others there that will be willing to, or want to help you in your task, but be aware of their motives, because not all are going to be good," Celestia replies, through telepathy.
"Great, I'm in a strange new place where I must walk on two legs like a human and friend as well as foe alike are trying to stop me from fulfilling my mission. How could anything get, any worse? Oh, wait, I know, how about embarrassing myself in front of everyone by not even being able to walk. Ugh, I hate this," Nurse Redheart thinks to herself as the stranger, leads her toward her home.
The kind soul can tell that something is bugging Redheart, but she thinks that waiting for them to arrive at her house, where they can talk in private would be better. She does not wish to embarrass the newcomer anymore than she already has been. Coming to a nice, deep forest green and royal blue house, the young woman, rummages into her pockets of her jeans and pulls out some keys. Fitting the right key into the lock of the door, she turns it to the right and with a click the door opens. Slipping inside and closing the door behind them, she leads Nurse Redheart over to a couch, so that she can relax. Then sitting down in a chair nearby, the kind soul speaks.
"So, you must be new around here? I haven't see you around at all. Oh, he, he... Forgive me, where are my manners. My name is Lyra. What may your name be," the young woman asks.
"Redheart... Wait did you say your name is Lyra? I know a Lyra. Well back where I come from, her name is Lyra Heartstrings."
The young woman smiles and nods. Her eyes sparkle as she looks into Nurse Redheart's eyes. Then after a slight pause she speaks.
"That would be me. Though I tend to just go by my first name. It's nice to see you, Nurse Redheart," Lyra says, putting a hand on her shoulder.
"LYRA, is that really you. Oh my gosh, I thought I was the only one. You have no idea, how glad I am to see you," Nurse Redheart says, rushing over and embracing her.
"Shh, keep it down, Nurse Redheart. You never know where "Her" spies could be. We don't want to blow our cover and therefore jeopardize the mission. I'm glad that you feel better now, Redheart. Now I can see you are struggling to walk straight on two legs after being on four. Well don't feel bad everyone is likely to struggle with that. We'll take it slowly alright. The first thing is getting used to distributing your weight on both legs equally and getting used to that. Then once you have that down, well, the rest is easy. It may take a few days or a week at most for you to be up and walking on your own. Don't worry though, we have lots of time, as long as we remain undetected by "Her."
Nurse Redheart has heard this term used before by the Princesses, but with much more distain and hatred. She has no idea who this "Her", is but if she is going to do this mission for the Princesses, it is only right that she should know what she is up against. The mare wonders whether she should ask Lyra, or if the Princesses will answer her. Before she can make a decision, two heads appear in the fire, flickering in the fireplace. It is Celestia and Luna.
Lyra jumps as the heads appear as does Nurse Redheart. They were not prepared for this at all. Still both of them are glad that the two are taking the time to speak and visit them here.
"Whoa, sorry about that your highnesses, we were not prepared for you appearance. Still it is good to see you. What is it that you came here for," Lyra asks in a whisper, as to not alert any spies that may be listening.
"It is nice to see you too, Lyra. We need to speak to Nurse Redheart about "Her". If she is going to do this for us, she needs to know what she is up against," The princesses reply with a nod.
"Oh, well then, I'll leave you to it then. I'll just be going over my notes, while I wait. Glad to have spoken with you, Princesses. Bye," Lyra says as she walks off and sits down in a distant chair after directing Nurse Redheart toward the fireplace.
