The King

The King

I look across the blackened landscape, my special crystals beautifully presenting my presents across the Crystal Empire. How could any pony ask for more? But yet the haunting cries of fillies and colts aren’t satisfying my hunger. A slave brings me food, with a dead hopeless look in his eye whenever I ask. Hope, I miss her grandly. I wish I could see her again. It’s been months, why did I send her away? Hope... No! I mustn’t think of her! After that trader denied becoming my queen, what is she worth to me now! This horn is now me, I can’t forget that now. It was always too late to change! Too late…

“Sir, lunch.” A grayed crystal pony murmured, he was scrawny, the chains that bind his front legs had scraped through his fur and skin, resulting in dried blood on his lower legs and chains. He was carrying a crystal tray in his muzzle, strawberry rhubarb pie, daisy salad and an iced tea, lemon sliced to one sixteenth. Perfect. Annoyingly perfect.

I smirked before yelling, “you incompetent foal! I wanted crystallized orange zest dust scattered on my plate!” I through the platter at the cowering slave, giving him a black eye.

“Yes master, right away!” The fear in his eyes sending a strike of joy through my veins. The slave hurried to clean up and ran down back to the kitchen. The alarm sounded.

“Who might that be? Not somepony trying to get in is it? What kind of senseless foal would try?” I looked upon the monitor to see the so called princesses, they haven’t stepped hoof on this land for over two hundred years. I chuckled and turned off the monitor. They have no Idea what there in for.

I meet the princess at the gate of the empire. They looked weary from the journey. Good… very good.

The rainbow one spoke up first. “We know what you’ve been up to Sombra.” She’s kind of pretty, But for now my jobs only to brake her spirit.

The darker one spoke up. “And we are here to put it to an end.” Interesting, she’s hiding something.

“May I ask my intruders names?”

“I am Luna, princess of the night and moon. And she is Celesta, princess of the day and sun.” Oh, very interesting, that’s what she’s hiding.

“We wish to sort this out peacefully. Turn over to us the Crystal Empire and we’ll go easy on you.” Celesta spat out, hate in her eyes. Beautiful.

“You mean like you’d go easy on you sister If she turned?”

“What are you talking about, I would never…”

“You know perfectly well what I’m talking about, remember that dream you had a few nights ago?” “Luna, join me. We could rule Equestria together!”

“Luna, don’t lesson to him!” The princess spoke hastily, unsure, they make it so easy.

“Sister, I was never going to, you know that.”

I smirk once more, “You sure?”

“Of course, I will never sink to your level.”

“Then your choice is made.” I lunge toward her, grin bigger than a school child awaiting dessert. Celesta blocked with her horn. “How did you find out about me?”

It was the sun princess’s turn to break it a smile, “Your little friend told us.”

“Hope! That trader!”

“Her? No, she wanted us to help you return to normal, but the ponies here are more important to us than the tyrant that enslaved them!”

Hope wanted to help me! Well any way “It’s too late for me.” I bundled up energy at the tip of my horn and aimed it toward Luna, with in a moment she’s in cased in my gray crystals. Celesta aims her own magic on me so I put up my reddish shield. The blast hit the shield and caused it to ripple. “Oh, Tia. How I will make you suffer.” I clap my hooves making the slaves come out. How I love seeing the hopeless eyes and the matted manes.

“Sombra, you will not win!”

“Look in their eyes Tia, I already have.” She winced at the sight.

“Once I defeat you I’ll restore their spirits.”

“Guess your torn there aren’t you? Anyway, your sister will suffocate soon. I guess this game might be over sooner than we thought. So boring, I’ll just have to make it worse on you.”

“Luna!”
“Tick Tock, Tick Tock.” I looked down at my hoof. Celesta turned towards her sister allowing me to strike a prized blow in her gut. Luna’s prison begins to shake, then fracture. From there only seconds were necessary for her to break out. For a second I was genuinely scared, But It quickly wore off as Luna fell beside her sister. “And you thought you could beat me. Such foals.”

“Sombra, you forgot to take one thing to account.”

“What, sisterly love?” I joked sarcastically.

“No. The elements of harmony.” the white pony spoke. She smiled defiantly and gently kicked over her bag and six gems fell out. She nodded towards her sister who had regained conciseness a second ago.

The six elements circled around the pair as they spoke in union, “Laughter. Honesty. Loyalty. Kindness. Generosity. And MAGIC!”

Before the rainbow colored ball hit me I had just enough time to cast my prepared curse over the empire and mutter the word, “crystals” I was only able to see two things before I blacked out under the arctic Ice, The Empire disappear and the look on their face. Hear me, I will return to get my revenge and no pony can stop me.

A child mane black as coal runs up to another, “Hope! Hope!” he joy fully calls to the pink coated foal. They play for hours. The next day they play again, quiet a little rougher, She grabs him by the tail he grabs a stick, and they pound each other. She let go and he ran to a shed in the back, he grabs a pot and places it upon his young head. She runs over and grabs a shovel and chases him around the yard. He sees a tree, to him it’s now a crow’s nest. He climbs up and grabs his stick, now a wooden sword. She starts climbing up as well, knife in her muzzle. She nears the top, the winds are blowing. He slashes his sword, and grinds his teeth in the face of his foe. She bears her teeth and fights to keep herself aboard. She falls off, and grabs him to, sword to his throat and hers to.
