//------------------------------// // Chapter Two // Story: Pink is the New Black // by GodOfBBQ //------------------------------// Chapter Two Luna sat quietly behind her desk in her dim office sorting out various random papers. She always enjoyed silent moments like these, when she had time to herself. But it didn’t last long: loud banging on her door startled Luna, making her look up. “Come in!” she called. The door swiftly swung open to reveal an excited Pinkie Pie. “Did you want to see me vice principal Luna?” Pinkie asked. “Yes, I did. Take a seat please,” Luna said gesturing to the chair that sat before her desk. Pinkie obliged and took a seat. Luna seemed to be almost as excited as Pinkie Pie. “This morning, when you came to sign up for the student exchange program, your enthusiasm really inspired me. I think you’ll be perfect for this job I’m trusting you with,” Luna said with a smile. “Ooh! What kind of job!?” Pinkie asked. “Well, I still haven’t had many sign-ups since yours, so I got to thinking. Then I realized that as you were so excited for this program, who wouldn’t think this was something — for lack of a better word — awesome? So, I need you take these sign up sheets and hand them out to students. It would be great if you could do that for me!” “I’d love to, Vice-Principal Luna! But why isn’t Principal Celestia helping as well?” Pinkie asked. “She’s too involved in other affairs to worry about this little project. Plus, between you and me, I don’t think she believes this project will take off. But that’s Celestia for you, it usually takes proof of success for her to be fully involved with something like this. That’s why I’m in charge of this little project,” Luna explained. “I get it! So you want me to help out then? Just hand out a few of these papers?” Pinkie reassured. “That’s right Miss Pie. Think you can handle it?” Luna asked. Pinkie smiled her famous bright smile. “Luna, you can bet your bottom dollar I can!” ~***~ Getting back to the lunch court from Luna’s office would take a few minutes for any average student. Pinkie left at the beginning of lunch, spoke with Luna for a short while, and returned to the lunch court with a handful of signup sheets in record time. And while she only had about ten minutes of lunchtime left, all she needed was five to get some sheets handed out. Almost like a rapid firearm, Pinkie handed out paper after paper to willing students. And since it was her that was passing out the forms, every student was willing. After only three minutes handing out forms, Pinkie was almost fresh out of copies. This proved she had done a good job. Proud of herself, she returned to the lunch table where the rest of her friends sat. She had saved enough forms for her friends if they were interested. “Hey girls!” Pinkie called out, gaining the group’s attention. “Hey Pinkie, what’d Luna want?” Sunset asked. “She wanted me to help out by giving students these student exchange forms! She said my attitude was right for the job!” “Can’t blame ‘er there. Luna does have a point about Pinkie’s attitude about these sorts of things,” Applejack said. “Speaking of which, I brought you all copies! In case some of you were wanting to sign up!” Pinkie chirped as she handed each of her friends a signup sheet. “Thank you, Pinkie darling, but I don’t think we’ll be needing these. No offense dear, but I don’t really want to go to some other school for a whole month. I have business to attend to,” Rarity excused. “Same here. Ah still have a farm to run. Ah can’t just let Mac and Bloom handle everythin’ while I’m gone on some fancy field trip,” Applejack said as she folded the sheet and placed it back on the table. Pinkie was a little disappointed that her friends didn’t all want to sign up, but she knew the others she’d given the sheets to would love to sign up, and were probably already filling Vice-Principal Luna’s inbox with the signup sheets. “That’s fine! I’m sure loads more people will love to try this new program out! Who wouldn’t want to go to a new school and meet to people, make new friends, and all that other good stuff?!” Pinkie asked. Before her group of friends could answer, the bell rang, signaling lunch had ended. The group of friends said their goodbyes and separated, except Pinkie and Rainbow who shared the following class together. “Hey, did you do the Math homework?” Rainbow asked. “Yeah, why?” Pinkie asked as she walked down the hall with Rainbow. “I need to copy. I forgot to do it last night, and I couldn’t do it at lunch because nobody else would let me copy theirs!” Rainbow panicked. “Sorry, Dash, sometimes you just gotta face the music! Even if it may be lame in the end!” Pinkie said happily, electing a grumble from Rainbow. ‘Oh well. Math doesn’t matter anyhow. Time for the real conversation,’ Rainbow thought to herself. “Listen, Pinkie… I don’t think you should go through with this student exchange thing…” Rainbow admitted. “But why, Dash? I think it sounds super fun and exciting!” “But that’s not really a good reason. Now I’m all about YOLO and trying new things, but this doesn’t seem worth it! I mean, what if you’re sent to some really ghetto school? What then?” Rainbow asked. She had a point: Pinkie hadn’t thought about that factor, but she found an answer for that question anyhow. “Don’t worry, Dash! I’m sure Vice-Principal Luna will exchange me with a student from another really good school!” Pinkie exclaimed. “If you’re chosen!” Rainbow reminded again. “Right, if I’m chosen! But still, Dash, I honestly think this will be a great opportunity to meet new friends!” Pinkie cheered. Rainbow adopted a nervous look. “But… What about us, Pinkie? What about your friends… and me…” Rainbow mumbled. “What was that Dash?” Pinkie asked. “Er, I said what about your friends? Sunset, Flutters, me, and the others. What about them? They’ll surely miss you!” “And I’ll miss them too! But I’ll only be gone for a month, Dashie! It’s not like that’s a long time or anything! Now hurry up, or we’ll be late for class!” Pinkie exclaimed as she charged ahead to reach Math class in time, leaving Rainbow to herself. Pinkie… I’d miss you…”
