Six Trans Mares

Applejack

I trotted down the stairs. I had a looong day ahead of me and I knew it was going to be a rough one too. The cider press had lost a gear and I needed to get more than a few loads of apples down the hill before I could-.

I stopped. Sitting in a circle around our little coffee table were Apple Bloom, Big Macintosh, and Granny Smith.

Granny had her forelegs crossed. She was eyeing me with a look that could melt steel. "Applejack. Sit."

She gestured to a chair. I bit my lip. "Granny I've got a lot of work to-"

"It can wait." She said. "Now sit. We need to talk."

I sat down, mechanically. I had no idea what was going on...

Granny put the mirror shard down on the table.

I blanched.

"Hold out your hoof." She said.

"Granny I can-"

"I SAID HOLD OUT YOUR HOOF!" She shouted.

I did as she asked. She brushed back the fur and her eyes widened at what she saw. She let it go. "What in the name of all things apple is *this* young man? You got some problem that you need to cut yourself up for before you'll say two words about it to your dang family?"

I stuttered, "I- I-"

"You lied to me!" Apple Bloom cried. She had tears in her eyes. "You told me again and again that I shouldn't worry and you were fine and all that time you were doing this!" She pointed to the shard.

"Explain yourself." Granny Smith demanded.

It felt like the walls were closing in. This was it, this was the end. This was when I lost everything I ever cared about. My throat closed up. "I... I..." I tried to think of another lie. I tried to think of anything at all that I could tell them that would put things back the way they were...

But there was nothing... "I... I'm miserable as a stallion..." I felt a sob catch in my throat. "I wish I was a mare so bad..."

For a moment the entire room was silent.

Granny Smith looked like she was going to explode. "YOUNG LADY I WILL TAN YOUR HIDE!!!"

I blinked. "Y- young lady?" I asked, completely lost.

Granny Smith walked right over the coffee table. "Yes, young lady! What, y'all think I'm going to sit around misgendering you at a time like this? You think I'm some kind of bigot that's going to hurt my own grand daughter! What am I? Too old? Too country?"

She ground her teeth. "Applejack, do you have any idea how big our family is?"

"I- Wha-?"

"Y'all have three trans cousins!" She spat. "And I love 'em just the same as the rest of the family, just like I love you. You really think that something like this would make us throw you away? Did you think we were just bitin' our tongues when we hosted Fluttershy?" She piled on to the chair and hugged me tight. "You silly little filly..."

Big Macintosh joined the hug. I felt like he was turning my ribs into splinters. I couldn't care less.

Apple Bloom walked up to us. She still had the tears, but she was smiling. "Ah... Ah have a sister?"

I started sobbing, long and hard, laughing all the while. It felt like everything I'd been holding in for months was pouring right out all at once.

"Yeah..." I managed. "Ya do."
