//------------------------------// // Chapter 1: Mirror-Portal // Story: Ponies And Pines // by KeyNoteTheUnicorn //------------------------------// Princess Twilight paced around her throne room, alone. The day seemed to be going by slower than ever before. It has been so long since there has been any excitement, anywhere in Equestria! For once in her life, it was as if her brain was dead. Her thoughts didn't seem to be flowing with as many ideas as it used to. She had done anything that day to spark her excitement and creativity: Reading books she had already read for the 4th time already, checking up on her friends, who had seemed to be extra busy that day, --strangely enough--, and practicing her newly gained alicorn magic! Nothing she did seemed to do the trick. As she continued pacing, she heard Spike from the other room shout, “OWCH!” Twilight quickly pranced to that room, concerned. “Is everything alright, Spike? What happened?” “Yeah, yeah… I just stubbed my claw on this mirror-portal of yours!” “Oh!—The one I built to get to Sunset Shimmer’s world!” “You should really move it out of the way so someone, also known as me, doesn’t trip over it or hurt ourselves!” Twilight pondered for a moment, while examining the mirror-portal. Without acknowledging Spike’s suggestion, she used her magic to pick the mirror-portal up, and move it out into the nearby library. “This is not what I meant by, ‘move it out of the way’” Spike said, rather annoyed that Twilight had been ignoring him, again. He rolled his eyes, and exited the library. Twilight began hooking up the wires and such, for the mirror-portal. “Maybe I can visit my friends at Canterlot High again! Just to check up on them!” She said, excitedly! What she didn’t notice though, throughout all the wiring commotion, was that she had misplaced a couple wires. As the mirror-portal started to warm up, and get the electric and magic juices flowing, the dimensional fabric had seemed to be different. It was different in a sense of appearance. Before, it looked more colorful, and more vibrant. Now it seems that the appearance had gotten duller, and a bit more mysterious. But it had been so long since Twilight last used the mirror-portal, she didn’t take notice. It also had been so long, that Twilight noticed it may take a bit longer then a whole day for it to charge up to the full power it could withhold. She decided to sleep through the night as the mirror-portal did its thing. She trotted to her bed room, and got ready for her slumber, and of course, Spike did so as well. “Goodnight, Spike!” Twilight yawned. Spike had already been asleep within seconds of his head hitting his pillow. Twilight smiled, tiredly. “May we see what tomorrow brings us…!” And she drifted off into a deep sleep. But as she was in her deep slumber, these certain words throbbed inside of her dreams: “… between the points along three spatial dimensions…”
