CMC: The Mare Chronicles

Sisterly Bonding

Sweetie Belle made her way to the Carousel Boutique. It was a very nice day; the breeze was nicely blowing, and the sun gave off a refreshing heat. Sweetie knocked on the door.

"One second!" A voice from the inside called. The door was soon opened as Sweetie Belle saw Rarity facing her.

"Oh, Sweetie! Are you ready to go to the spa?" Rarity asked as Sweetie nodded.

"Sorry I couldn't go with you yesterday. Button and I spent more time with each other than we realized," Sweetie responded as Rarity giggled.

"It's fine! We just have to make sure not to get the really expensive treatment, since you have to get back to Canterlot!" The two then started walking to the spa.

"Well, I don't have to right now. I don't have another concert for a week! I want to spend some time with my friends here, first!"

Rarity nodded in agreement. "I understand. But I do think you should leave by tomorrow. You should probably practice with the orchestra before you perform next week."

Sweetie looked down to the ground. "I know..." She then smiled and looked up. "But it's fine! I'm going to visit every two weeks now!"

Rarity smiled. "Really? That's great news!"

"Yep! Apparently Button wants to spend even more time with me. Well, I'm the same way. Things get lonely without him."

"I can see that. Oh, young love..." Rarity responded as she fluttered her eyelashes. The two soon reached the spa.

When they got to the counter, the spa ponies, Aloe and Lotus, recognized the two immediately.

'Welcome, Rarity and Sweetie Belle! The usual?"

"Most certainly!" Rarity responded as Aloe went to get the treatment ready. Rarity then turned to Sweetie Belle.

"Ready for a treatment?"

"Of course!" Sweetie Belle responded. "The spas in Canterlot are way too fancy for me. And plus, I never have time to get a treatment there. I'd rather come here!"

"Rarity, Sweetie Belle, follow me," Lotus said. Rarity and Sweetie Belle walked over to a massage table.

As soon as they were seated, Rarity looked over to Sweetie Belle. "So... any huge performances coming up?"

Sweetie thought before a huge smile crossed her face. "Oh, I forgot! I'm performing at the gala this year!"

Rarity's jaw dropped. "You're... performing... at the..."

"That's right. I'm going to be singing a few songs for about a half hour. Princess Celestia said that my voice would be perfect for the atmosphere there."

Rarity squealed. "Oh, you don't know how envious I am of you, Sweetie! I promise to be there watching you!"

"Thanks so much, Rarity!" Sweetie responded, her gaze softening. "I don't know what I would do without a sister like you..."

Scootaloo flew through the air, letting the cool breeze flow through her mane. She would normally take her scooter, but she decided to give her legs a break and let her wings take over. Flying is something that she would never take for granted. The inability to fly as a filly caused a lot of aggravating and painful moments, and she didn't want to go through the same experiences.

She soon reached Rainbow Dash's cloud house. Yesterday, Rainbow had been very busy with the weather. It was a confusing day. Apparently, a mare accidentally sent a few rainclouds to Canterlot, and caused lightning strikes to appear every minute in Ponyville. Rainbow Dash had to fetch the clouds in Canterlot, bring them back to Ponyville, and stop the lightning strikes. Scootaloo felt like yesterday wasn't the day to talk to her.

She knocked on the light blue door, signaling her arrival. Hoof-steps were heard coming closer to the door. The door then opened to reveal Rainbow Dash, who smiled brightly.

"Hey, squirt! Come in!" Rainbow greeted as she held the door open for her sister.

"Hey, Rainbow!" Scootaloo responded as she walked over to the couch and sat down. Rainbow then closed the door and walked over to her.

"How's it been? Have you dazzled the ponies of Ponyville with your tricks?"

Scootaloo nodded. "Yeah! How's the weather business going for you?"

"Well... except for that incident yesterday, it's going really well! A few months ago, I hired a stallion named Rumble. He's become one of the most awesome ponies on the weather team!" Rainbow responded, spreading her wings.

"Oh, hehe, that's cool!" Scootaloo stammered, nervously looking to the ground. Rainbow Dash could tell something was up.

"Scoots? Are you alright?"

Scootaloo buried her face in her hooves. "I'm girly..."

Rainbow raised an eyebrow. "You're... what?"

"Girly. You heard me."

Rainbow Dash looked at her sister, puzzled.

"Dashie, do you want me to make lunch?" Said a voice from the kitchen. Scootaloo and Rainbow looked to find Soarin.

"Oh, hey, Soar! Yes, you can. I'm having a talk with Scootaloo."

"Alright! I'll tell you when lunch is ready! I'll be making something for Scoots as well," Soarin responded as he trotted back in the kitchen.

Scootaloo looked over to Rainbow. "Is he staying here now?"

"Uh... no. Well, not for long. Just one night..."

Scootaloo smiled. "I can't wait for him to become my brother. He's awesome!"

Rainbow flushed, but smiled. "He is, isn't he?" Rainbow then looked over at Scootaloo. "Now... enough about my colt-friend. What do you mean when you say you're girly?"

Scootaloo looked to the ground. "Well... ya see... I kind of..."

"Think you're not awesome? We've been through this before. You're the second awesomest Pegasus in Equestria! Well, I am the awesomest. Sorry."

Scootaloo shook her head. "It's not that. I, well, am in love with Rumble..." Scootaloo responded, her voice softening word by word. Rainbow's eyes went wide.

"Scootaloo..."

"That's why I'm girly! Am I still considered a tomboy when I'm head-over-hooves for somepony?"

Rainbow sat down on the couch with her sister and wrapped her wing around her. "Hey, you wanna know something?"

"...Sure."

"I felt the same way before and after I started dating Soarin. I know I've told you that I was never completely mad for him, but in all truth, I was and still am."

Scootaloo looked back at her sister. "R-really? You felt... just like me?"

Rainbow nodded. "You betcha. And it's not true. We're both still awesome, even though we love somepony."

Scootaloo's face turned red. "I-I guess so..."

"Well, I know so. Falling for somepony is completely natural. You don't have to be girly to be affected."

Scootaloo responded. "Thanks, Rainbow. It means a lot to me that you're willing to talk about this."

Rainbow smiled. "Hey, no problem!" She then giggled a bit. "You wanna know how Soarin asked me out? Maybe you'll be able to use his technique."

Scootaloo's face became even redder. "I don't plan to ask him out just yet."

"Well, if you ever do." Rainbow laughed again. "Soarin used very cheesy pick up lines."

"Really?' Scootaloo asked as Rainbow nodded.

"Yes. He thought of the cheesiest one and asked me out with it. It was honestly so cheesy, it was funny."

"Hey! It was sweet and you know it!" Soarin yelled from the kitchen as Rainbow giggled.

"Well, yes."

Scootaloo slightly giggled and nuzzled closer to Rainbow Dash. "I don't know how I would live without you, Rainbow..."

Apple Bloom brought a few buckets of apples into the barn. The evening breeze engulfed her, and relieved her stress from a day of being covered in different colors of paint. She then saw Applejack looking at her, smiling.

"Hey, Apple Bloom! How was your day?"

"Great!"

"That's what Ah thought. Now, ya wanna have some fun?"

Apple Bloom cocked her head. "Sure! What do ya have in mind?"

Applejack trotted over to a usually bare side of the orchard. When Apple Bloom found her, she saw bales upon bales of hay scattered all around.

"Applejack... what is this?"

"An obstacle course! It came to mah mind that we never get to spend some time together, so Ah thought this would be fun!"

Apple Bloom smiled. "Oh, this is gonna be so much fun!"

"You betcha! Now, let's get ready!"

Applejack and Apple Bloom stood at the starting line that was marked with sticks. When Applejack counted to three, the two took off, jumping and avoiding hay bales.

The flowing breeze delighted Apple Bloom. The quality time she was spending with her sister delighted her even more. Her feeling of tranquility was broken when Applejack ran past her.

"Oh, no, you don't!" Apple Bloom remarked, catching up with her sister.

The two ran side by side, somehow not running into each other. The finish line was soon in sight. Applejack took a leap, determined to make it.

Apple Bloom slightly giggled as she sprung up and tackled Applejack down. Both of them crossed the finish line. They sat in silence for a moment before laughing.

"That was so fun!" Apple Bloom remarked, standing up.

"It most certainly was!" Applejack responded, wiping the dust off her orange coat.

"We have to do this again! How would tomorrow sound?"

Applejack chuckled. "Anything for the best sister ever."

Apple Bloom playfully nudged her. "Ya must be talkin' 'bout yourself. It would be hard to live without a sister like you."

Applejack smiled. "Ah agree. Now, wanna race back to the barn?"

Apple Bloom got a game face on. "Ya bet!" She responded. The two then took off, running at full speed under the setting sun.
