//------------------------------// // Chapter 8: Memories of the long gone (Edited) // Story: Light in the darkest hour // by DerpyEngi and Redd //------------------------------// "Ha ha! Can't catch me! I’m the fastest person in the world!" My newly 3 year old sister taunted as I chased her. It was late. Me and Rose were alone at our vacation home. She wouldn't go to bed and just started running around. She eventually ran outside and stopped running and looked up into the sky. "Hey Rosie... you... done running around yet?" I asked as I sat down next to her, out of breath. She simply pointed to the sky. "Look at all the stars. They’re so pretty." she said with awe stricken eyes. I looked up and they were very pretty indeed. The stars shone brightly, the moon was full and stood proud in the middle of the sky and no cloud for miles, first time in ages probably. "They certainly are, Rosie." I agreed. I then grabbed her and sat her down on my leg. "I wish I could just fly up there and touch them," she said, still mesmerized by the stars. I chuckled, and said "But you're afraid of heights, you little goofball." I said as I tickled her stomach. She started laughing uncontrollably. "Stop it! Ha! Ha! Stop!" I continued for a little before I finally stopped and let her breathe, she took a few deep breaths before she leaned backwards and yawned. I sat back and looked at the stars for a moment. Then, I was hit with inspiration. "Do you want to learn about the stars, Rosie?" I asked her. "Mmm-hmm." she hummed as she nodded her head. "Well, first of you got to promise that you will go to sleep, okay?" I asked her. "Yeah, I promise, but you got to tell me about the stars then!" she warned in the most threatening way she could... which just ended up being cute. "Okay then, Long ago there was a tiny little star. The star was so tiny that none of the other stars noticed the tiny little star." I started my little story. Rosie just kept listening as I continued. "So the tiny little star got sad and went to Mistress Moon." I said as I pointed at the moon. "Then, the tiny little star asked Mistress Moon, ‘Mistress Moon, can you help me? All of the other stars ignore me because I am so tiny. Can you help me make some friends?’ Mistress Moon then said, ‘no I can not my little star, but you can. You need to find the other tiny little stars like you. I warn you though, it's going to a be hard journey, are you up to it?’ She asked the tiny little star. He decided that he wanted to find other tiny little stars that were sad, so the little tiny star went--" I got interrupted by a snoring sound. Rosie had fallen asleep, I chuckled. "Not sleepy at all, huh?" I shook my head. "Let's get you to bed, Rosie." I said as I picked her up. I carried her to her room and put her on her bunk bed and walked out, I heard her mutter something on my way out. "But when you're flying, you can always fall down..." She muttered quietly. I chuckled again. "Rosie, you goof." I said as I closed the door. I made my way to my bed and went to sleep, not caring about my teeth or clothes at the moment. Chasing your little sister gets really tiring after a bit, so I went to sleep, not having a care in the world.
