Spike hopped off the train, right into the Crystal Empire train station. Spike was a little frustrated that he had to go on Nightmare Night eve, but he wasn't too upset. The cold fall wind blew right in his face, and it caused him to lightly shiver. He was wearing a coat and holding a suitcase. He looked around as he walked to the Crystal Palace, and standing in front where two guards. Spike walked up to the guards, "Umm, hi. I'm Spike! Princess Cadence summoned me!" He exclaimed.
One of them looked up at a list, and read for a minute, "Alright, you're free to go in!" He stated, using his magic to open the door, allowing Spike in. He walked in and looked around, as he walked up to the throne room, to see Shining Armor and Cadence, sitting in their thrones.
"Why hello, Spike...glad you could make it!" Cadence exclaimed, putting a smile on.
"Hi, Cadence!" Spike replied, waving back. "So you summoned me, correct?"
"Yes, I did." She replied “We wanted you here because there's a Nightmare Night celebration going on tonight, and we were wondering you wanted to be there for when we light the fireworks at Midnight!" She exclaimed, plastering a smile on her face.
"But why would you need me?" He asked.
"Because you're the savior of the Crystal Empire!" Shining answered. "And we thought it'd be nice to have you there!"
Spike then thought for a minute, "Why...I'd be honored!" He replied.
Cadence smiled, "Alright, so you're willing to spend the night here, correct?" She asked.
"Of course I would!" He replied, "Now, where’s my room?!" He asked.
"Umm yeah...About that..." Shining said, scratching the back of his head. "That side of the palace is getting a makeover, so we actually can't allow you back there for tonight..."
"Then where will I sleep?"
"We asked somepony to volunteer to let you stay with them for the night!" Cadence said, "There she is now!"
Spike looked behind himself, to see a very tall Mare standing there. She had a white coat with a cherry red mane, with orange streaks. It was in a large bun sticking out the top. She had black glasses and pencils sticking out of her bun. "Hi...are you Spike?" She asked, in a very bored tone, much like Maud Pies. She also had an Australian accent. She then looked down at Spike.
"Umm...yeah..." Spike replied.
"Alright, I was asked to be your caretaker for the night...so let's go...By the way, my name is Cream Cakes..." She said.
"Bye! See you tomorrow!" Cadence yelled, waving as they two left the palace...
Spike arrived at Cream's place. She let him in to her very run-down house, not exactly broken, just very messy and dark. Spike walked in with his suitcase and looked around, very awkwardly. "Here, I'll show you to your room..." She said, before walking up the stairs. There was a hall, with a door on the other side, and two doors across from each other. "This will be your room..." She said, lifting her hoof up to the door on the right. "And, whatever you do...DON'T I repeat DON'T go in the door at the end of the hall..." She yelled, "Am I making myself clear?" She asked, getting up in Spikes face.
Spike gulped, and nodded. "Hmm hmm..." He mumbled.
"Alright, good!" She replied, smiling. "Now, you can unpack your stuff, and I'll be downstairs if you need me..." She said, before walking down the stairs.
Spike looked at the door. There where big, red letters painted on saying: KEEP OUT. Spike walked into his room, and it was surprisingly clean compared to the rest of the house. He walked into his room and unpacked his stuff, and took his coat off, and walked out into the hall. He then looked at the door that she told him not to go in, and a wave of curiosity struck him, causing him to walk towards the door.
"Don't do it...don't do it..." He kept thinking to himself, but his curiosity got the better of him. As he approached the door he extended his arm, as he grabbed the door knob, he immediately pulled away. "This is her house, and I should be great full I get to stay here...Not snooping through her stuff..."He mumbled to himself, before turning back, and going into his room. He sat on his bed and wrote a letter to Twilight about where he was, and what was going on. After that he got ready to turn in for the night.
LATER ON NIGHTMARE NIGHT DAY:
It was around sunset as Spike walked into his room, and flopped out on the bed. "Ugh...Preparing this celebration is hard..." He mumbled to himself, as he scooted under the covers to take a nap.
Suddenly, he was woken up by the sound of a creeky door opening from outside. He then rubbed his eyes. "Oh man...I hope I didn't sleep in to late..." He mumbled as he looked at the clock, so see it read 11:45 PM "Spike was suddenly wide awake. "I SLEPT IN TOO LONG!" He yelled, before hearing more creaking coming from the hall. He hopped out of bed and made his way towards his bedroom door that was left opened a crack, and peered out.
He saw the room he was told not to go in, the door was opened a crack and there was somepony inside. Suddenly, Cream popped her head out the door, and Spike retreated back into his bed, pretending he's asleep. She then left the room and quietly made her way into Spike's room, and stood over his bed. "Yes...sleep my Dragon...You will be mine soon..." She whispered, but this time she didn't have her normal boring voice, she sounded evil! She then gently pulled one of his scales out, causing him to flinch.
She then ran out into the hall and trotted down the stairs. Spike then jumped up out of bed. "What did she mean by that...and why did she take one of my scales?" He asked himself, not completely terrified. The nights he had spent here she seemed weird, but not evil! He then jumped out of bed, and quietly ran to his door, then poked his head out again and saw the door was left opened. His curiosity got the better of him again as he came out and walked to the other side of the hall, and poked his head into the room.
"Woah..." He mumbled. in one corner there was an old computer set up, but it looked barely functional. The only window was covered with bricks, in the center of the room there was a Black Magic circle, the light from the candles was all that was lighting the room. On the other side there was a journal set up, each on with different Ponies names on them. He read all the other names; they all had the words "Caught" and many different locations in Equestria, and presumably where the ponies lived. Next to the names, there were mostly ponies he didn't recognize, but then, he noticed there was one labeled: "Button Mash...Still haven't caught yet"
Spike's heart dropped, and he looked down at the book that was currently opened...The label read "Spike" and there was some stuff written down about what he had done since arriving...She had monitored everything he had done..."Wha-- no..." He mumbled as he began to walk back a few steps, before tripping on a candle, and flying back, his head landing on the keyboard.
"Sending: 'Obey Shay' Video to: 'Button Mash'" The computer said, in a robotic voice.
"No, no, no!" He screamed, and tried to hit 'delete' but was accidentally hitting other keys.
"Now sending: 'scream chair' Video to: 'Button Mash'" It said again.
"I told you not to come in here!" Spike heard the familiar accent, and looked in the entrance and there he saw Cream Cakes standing there. "You were supposed to stay out, but you don't like to listen do you?!" She asked, by this point she was completely enraged.
"Well...umm..." Spike mumbled, lifting a finger.
Cream walked in, and sat in the middle of her magic circle and began chanting.
"Wha...what are you doing?" Spike asked, with terror in his voice.
"It's almost midnight...and you know what that means?" She hissed, with her eyes starting to glow red. "The full moon will be coming...soon...and then I'll be able to unleash my true form!" She exclaimed.
"What true form?!" He fearfully asked.
"You're so naive...I'm a Demon that escaped Tartarus!" She exclaimed. "And on midnight every Nightmare Night...on a full moon I can unleash my true form!" She hissed. She used her hoof to smash the bricks that were covering the window, and the Moonlight bathed the inside of the room, as she continued to chant.
"Stop it!" Spike screamed, only to be ignored. He then looked at the computer behind him and pulled one of the monitors off, breaking the chord. He threw it at Cream, but she dodged it. "Oh no..." He mumbled as the clock struck midnight...
"Ding Dong Ding Dong..."
Suddenly, Cream started to glow a black color, and Spike watched as she transformed into a Horrific Demon, With Dark brown fur, Changeling wings, six spider-like legs, and she was taller. And she had a snake tongue.
"Hmm...I've never tasted Dragon before!" She yelled, with a now deep and raspy voice. "I'll salute you, then turn your bones into broth, then eat gobble you down!" She hissed, before immediately lunging at Spike.
"AHH!" Spike screamed as he dodged her, and then ran down the hall and stairs. She followed him, destroying everything in her path. He ran out the front door, and slammed it shut, before continuing to run. It didn't stop her; she crashed through the door, taking the front of the house off with her.
Suddenly all the ponies gathering around for the celebration looked towards the horrid sight, and then started freaking out. "OH NO...IT'S A DEMON!" One of them screamed. It caused everybody else to freak out even harder, and run inside.
"GO AWAY!" He screamed, before picking up a rock and throwing it at her, but it barely did anything.
"Oh...that's cute!" She exclaimed, before plunging her tail into the ground, and having it come out of the ground under Spike, he was now tangled in it.
"L-Let me go..." He mumbled as it started to swallow him up.
"Oh stop squirming! It tickles too bad!" She sarcastically said. She then sniffed several times "Why do I smell something...burning?" She asked, looking down at her tail and noticing it was burning off. "Hey...STOP THAT!" She screamed, letting Spike go as her tail continued to burn. She threw it on the ground and started to frantically stomp on it until the fire went out. "Oh...phew..."
"Wait a minute..." He thought to himself, tapping his chin. “The way she reacted to the fire..." Spike suddenly hatched an idea.
"Alright...now time to finish you!" She screamed, before charging at Spike. He then blew flame right before she hit him, and lither on fire. "AHHH!" She screamed as she slowly disintegrated..."NO, NO! PLEASE NO!" She screamed as she turned to ash.
"Spike sat there for a moment, "Did I win?" He asked.
"No...Far from it, actually..." He heard the voice, in the familiar accent.
"Uhh..." Spike mumbled.
Suddenly the Ash pile started to move, and it started to morph into a giant pile with a face. "Mua hah hah..." It laughed. "Nothing can stop me now...not even a little bastard like you!" It screamed.
Spike blew some more flame at her, but she would just move the ashes around it. She then surrounded Spike in a giant bowl, and started to enclose in on him. He started to blow flame all around himself, but she could just dodge it. Spike then huddles down and accepted his fate. But then, suddenly from the distance a huge fireball came out of nowhere.
"HA HA HA...You're gonna love this treat. Spike-" Suddenly, the fireball hit her, engulfing her into flames. "AHHHH!" She screamed, as the flames burned up all the ashes 'till there was nothing left. Spike sat there, huddles up into a ball. It took him a minute to realize he was in a pile of fire.
"Uhh, wait...did I do that?" He asked himself. "Huh...I guess I did!" He exclaimed, putting his hands at his hips.
He walked out of the flame pile, and walked to the Crystal Palace to tell Candace. Suddenly, the crystal ponies noticed, and slowly came out and surrounded Spike. "D-Did you defeat that Demon?" One of them asked.
"Yes...I did!" He exclaimed.
"Wow, saving us twice? You really are a hero!" One of them stated.
"...I guess I am!" Spike replied, crossing his arms.
Cadence then came out of the palace, "What's going on?" She asked, trotting down the stairs.
"Well...let me start from the beginning..." Spike said, before explaining everything.
"Uhh...whoa..." Cadence mumbled, "Well...I apologize...is there anything I can do?" She asked.
Spike then thought for a minute. "Well there's one! get me home as fast as possible!" He said. Cadence then nodded and invited Spike inside while she got things ready.
Meanwhile, there were actually a couple ashes that didn't get burned. They were lying on the ground "I'll get my revenge...Spike..."
