Chapter 9: Serenade of the Sea Devils

Meanwhile...

These past few days in this city had transformed you into one with the locals. Everyone was relatively friendly with both you and your comrades, but they seemed to hide some sort of secret that only a select few knew. You thought about questioning a few people on this matter, but you decided it was best for you to respect their privacy.

You were brought out of your musings by Rebecca grasping your shoulder saying, “It’s time, initiate.”

You nodded in understanding. Thanks to this surprising turn of events, one that seemed even the big-wigs of Abstergo wasn’t ready for, all of the Initiates were tuned in to await the next move. Which meant your team would need to recover the Piece of Eden before it fell into the wrong hands. But since is was in the hands of an assassin out of his own time period, all of you now needed to tread extra carefully in order to recover the apple.

“Remind me again of what I must do,” you said, as the rest of the gang prepared for the rest of the day.

“Well, seeing as how you’re eager to get started, lets recap,” Shawn replied. “All four of us are going to, for lack of a better term, ask around the town if they’ve seen any hooded pirates taking leisurely strolls down their streets.”

You raised an eyebrow in confusion. “That’s it,” you questioned.

“I know its not our most exciting of plans,” he winced. “But its all we’ve got to go on.”

You shake your head in disbelief. “Then what are we waiting for,” you declared. “Lets go find an Assassin.”

Elsewhere...

One week had passed since Edward was reunited with his old friend, and in that time since he recounted the tales of his adventure to her new friends. Word around town had reached his ears that a festival of music was being held by Canterlot High in the next few days.
As he walked down one of Canterlot City’s many streets leading towards the school, he came across a strange site that puzzled the former pirate.

Three women were striding down the same road to his destination at the school. But what puzzled Kenway the most was that they gave off a distinct air of trouble. Pausing to make sure they didn’t see him, he ducked into some nearby bushes, and gazed at them with his Eagle Vision. What he saw made his blood go cold.

“What in God’s name are they,” he whispered to himself.

Before he could comprehend what he saw, the apparent leader of the group suddenly stopped. She turned her gaze towards every possible direction, confirming if they weren’t being followed. One of the other ladies asked rather impatiently why they stopped. The leader then shook her head, and continued to walk down the street to the school.

Edward knew that if he didn’t warn his friends soon, they would fall victim to these “monsters in broad daylight”. So by the time the three ladies walked out of his peripheral vision, he ran to the nearest building and chased after the Dazzlings on the rooftops. He jumped from rooftop to rooftop, getting much closer to the school quicker than the mysterious trio with plans of invasion.

Even though the modern terrain was vastly unfamiliar territory for the captain, his years of Assassin skills paid off in the end with getting Edward to the school first. By the time he reached the main entrance, his Eagle Vision reminded him that he had several minutes before the trio arrived. Without hesitation, he raced through the doors, seeking out his new-found friends before it was too late.

Elsewhere...

White Lance and Sunset Shimmer were still practicing with their fellow members of the band they dub 'the White Knights'. "Okay everyone," he said to them. "Are we ready?"

"Yeah," Sunset nodded.

"I'm ready," Indigo replied.

"We're ready," Captain Planet replied as Mystery Mint nodded in response.

White Lance had his White Star Guitar which he had since he discovered in the pony world underneath the capital city of Canterlot and in the old mines. Sunset was the co-singer with White Lance. Indigo had the drums, Captain Planet played his own guitar, and Mystery Mint played the base. The song they were about to play was a practice song, to see how the band would sound come showtime.

(Begin song)

(End Song)

When their song was finished, White Lance smiled behind his mask. “Not bad everyone, not bad,” he said to them.

“Did we do that good?” Mystery Mint asked. The white teenager nodded to her in response.

“I think we did great,” Sunset said to them but still felt hesitant around the three. Even after all this time, she still remembered the incident with Twilight’s crown and feared that one day her new friends would leave her and White Lance.

But White Lance managed to talk them into forming a band with him and Sunset and if he said that she could regain their trust, she believed that he was telling her the truth. He had always been close to Sunset Shimmer ever since they met each other in Canterlot.

“Okay guys, one more song, and then we can stop for the day,” White Lance said to them as the band got ready to practice another song. All the others besides White Lance didn’t seem to pay much attention to Sunset’s grief. But what they did know was that they needed her trust and in return she needed to trust them, so this band of friends could last.

Just then, there was a knock on the door. “Come in,” White Lance said to whoever was at the door and it was Edward. “Ah, Edward, it’s great to see you again. Is there something you need?”

“Aye, there is,” the Pirate Assassin replied to him. “I need your help to find the others. Do you know where they are?”

“Well, Rarity texted that she and Fluttershy were busy at the pet store. Rainbow Dash is at her place practicing with her new guitar,” the red and yellow haired teenager replied. “Applejack is back at her farm. I don’t know where Pinkie is though.”

“Your daughter is with Apple Bloom and the others,” White Lance cut in. “And Mary is at her hotel.”

“Do you think you can gather them at the school entrance?” he requested.

“Of course Edward,” White Lance nodded as he turned to the others. “Okay guys, looks like we will have to cut practice short for now.”

“Okay then White Lance,” Captain Planet said as he, Mystery Mint, and Indigo left the room. Sunset pulled out her cell phone and began texting to the others. Edward still had no idea how the people here wielded the unfamiliar technology they were using, but he would get used to it in time.

-----------------------------------------------------------

At the entrance...

When everyone had gathered together to hear of the coming danger Edward described, he recounted exactly what had happened prior to arriving. He told them everything he could about the intruders, from the uncomfortable feeling of dread that spread through his body, to the way they carried themselves, and to how they seemed to have a hidden history with this very city.

Just as he was about to go into detail about their true forms that he wished was a hallucination, his Eagle Vision warned him that the trio was about to arrive at the school in one minute.

“Get back into the school, make sure they don’t see you,” the Assassin warned. “I’m going to find out what they’re here for.”

Everyone voiced their agreements, and split off back into their daily school routines as if the conversation never took place. Jenny wished her father good luck, and sped off with Mary who was returning back to her new home.

By the time everyone had gone, Edward rushed over to a nearby closet to conceal his presence. Just as he left the door open to a crevice that would allow him to listen in on their conversation, the three devils that he encountered finally revealed themselves.

The leader of the group had long bunched up orange hair and wore a purple and gold outfit that complimented and exaggerated her curves. To her left was a woman that had purple hair with teal highlights bunched together into two long ponytails. She wore an outfit that again complimented the way her body was shaped, but it also seemed like it was used to ward off anyone trying to get close to her. Finally the last one had blue and teal hair bunched together into one big ponytail, almost trying to look like a waterfall. She had on a purple and blue getup that Edward was unfamiliar with, but it made her seem like she was innocent. But the Assassin knew better.

Each of them had their obvious differences in personality, especially when the leader started giving orders to look for someone to help guide them through the school. But the one thing they all seemed to share was a necklace on each of their necks with a dark ruby at the center.

Just then, a student walked by that caught the attention of the three visitors. The leader then spoke, “Excuse me kind sir. Can you help us for a second?”

The blue-haired teen, wanting to be polite to the visitors asked, “Sure. What do you three need?”

“We are new to this school, and we’d like to get a feel for the place before we see the Principle about applying. Care to show us around?”

“I’m so sorry,” the teen apologized. “But I got a class I have to go to real soon. However I can hook you three up with a friend of mine that would be happy to show you around.”

She thanked him, and he raced down the hall to the Music Room. A few minutes later Sunset came into the fray, asked if the three were who she was supposed to see, and then led the trio down the hall on a spur of the moment tour of the school. Edward, making sure he hadn’t been seen, followed the group throughout the tour.

For the majority of the time nothing too serious happened. Until the end where Sunset attempted to get a closer look at one of the necklaces, whereupon the leader, whose name was revealed to be Adagio, violently smacked her arm away from the ruby.

A quick apology and hasty retreat later, Sunset quickly made her way to the Cafeteria. Alone again at last, or so they thought, the trio made silent plans to persuade the Principal to change the Spring Fling into a Battle of the Bands.

Edward heard their plans, so a quick and quietly as he could, he raced to the offices to warn Celestia and Luna of the coming danger. But as he ran the Assassin knew deep down that something big was coming. Whatever it was would remain a complete mystery to him, for now he needed to stop those monsters at all costs.
