//------------------------------// // My Very Special Somepony // Story: A Special Day for Discord // by RoyalCanterlotVoice98 //------------------------------// Discord's day started with his draconequus shaped alarm clock buzzing loudly on his bedside table. Groggily, Discord sat up and snapped his fingers, making his oh so annoying alarm clock disappear. He stretched his legs and yawned loudly. Even the lord of chaos hated mornings. Discord jumped out of his multicolored bed and tapped his chin. "Something's not right here." Suddenly, he realized the bed was perfectly made. With another quick snap of his fingers, Discord unmade his bed. "That's better," he said happily. Discord teleported quickly to his lime green, plaid walled kitchen, where he started making breakfast: Spaghetti noodles with maple syrup. While chowing down, Discord looked as his calendar. He was taken aback with surprise, then he grimaced. It was Hearts and Hooves Day... It was right then and there that Discord decided he would stay home all day. He absolutely could not stand Hearts and Hooves Day couples. All of those mushy, disgusting couples, Discord scowled, but then thought for a moment. I wonder what the ponies are doing just about now. He smirked. Rainbow Dash is probably out with Soarin, or still in bed. He then rolled his eyes. Twilight's probably flirting with Flash Sentry in another one of her movies, and Pinkie's probably already planned a party with Cheese Sandwich... Discord chuckled. Rarity's hopelessly courting with a handsome stallion, and Applejack... um... never mind. "But what of Fluttershy?" he muttered through a mouthful of spaghetti noodles. I wonder, does she have a very special somepony? I mean, she is pretty, but she's shy too, which makes her absolutely adorable! He stopped his train of thought to discover his face was beet red. He took his lion paw and slapped himself. "What is with you today, Discord?" He shouted at himself. He grumbled. "That stupid holiday is even getting to me! It's not like I like her or anything! We're just friends, nothing more." Discord crossed his arms as he sulkily wandered aimlessly back to his bedroom, but then thought for a moment about how kind and caring Fluttershy was to him. Could that be a sign? He snapped his fingers and in place of the alarm clock on his bedside table, was a picture of Fluttershy and him. Discord's frown slowly turned into a slight grin. ________________________________ Fluttershy was gardening outside of her cottage in the beautiful thawing winter when a letter poofed into existence near her roses she had just finished planting. Written on it were only six words: Lunch at your house today? -Discord Fluttershy smiled a bit and wrote a letter back on the piece of parchment that had also appeared with the letter. Of course! -Fluttershy She then took her letter to her mailbox, where a mailmare hastily collected and delivered it. Fluttershy tried to finish her gardening work in a hurry, now excited for the coming afternoon. She always loved Discord's visits, especially ones on hectic holidays like this. What's Discord doing for Hearts and Hooves Day? she wondered, but blushed and dismissed the thought. ___________________________________ Discord got to Fluttershy's house right on time with a picnic basket. He walked into Fluttershy's garden and threw a little confetti with a happy grin on his face. "Hello, my dear Fluttershy! How's Hearts and Hooves Day?" Fluttershy, now watering her Narcissus flowers, turned around and put on a smile. "Discord! Sorry I'm not ready, I just needed to get a few chores done!" "Tut, tut, that will all be taken care of by me today," Discord said with a pained smile, hoping Fluttershy wouldn't notice him twiddling his fingers or the slight pink on his face. "Why thank you, Discord! That's very nice of you... but can we eat first?" Fluttershy said sheepishly. "Of course!" Discord snapped his fingers so that they were inside. A nice brunch was laid before them on the table, which was now floating near the ceiling! Fluttershy did her best to ignore the strange arrangement. "So, do you like tea cakes?" Discord thought for a moment. "If it has sugar in it, then yes!" Fluttershy laughed, and Discord smiled warmly in return, his snarkiness melting for a second. "Well, you know us draconequui, always trying to stick to the four main food groups: Candy, candied apples, candy corn, and of course, syrup." Fluttershy laughed again, and for a while there was an awkward silence. Discord broke the tension with a simple question: "So, do you... have anypony special on this wonderful holiday on your mind?" Fluttershy blushed a little. "Um... no. I don't have a special somepony." Discord was surprised. She should, he thought. Fluttershy, on the other hoof, was telling a little fib. The truth was that a part of Fluttershy had fallen for Discord, but not because of his looks (although she did think that being many different species at once made him more interesting and slightly charming). Fluttershy actually rather enjoyed Discord's lively, quirky personality. Mainly, however, she loved Discord's soft side because she was usually the only one who could bring it out of him. Discord sighed. "So... would you like to..." he winced. "to..." "Yes?" Fluttershy anticipated. "Get some dessert?" "Oh, okay." Her heart fell, but she quickly recovered, for the sake of Discord. After a delicious brunch, Discord was about to get started on the chores he promised Fluttershy. "I suppose you'll get these done easily since you have your magic." Discord froze for a moment. You know what would really impress Fluttershy, he thought, is if I did the chores without my magic! "Well, how about this? I'll do your chores without my magic, as a challenge. How does that sound?" Discord smiled warmly. Fluttershy smiled back. "That would be interesting to watch." Discord gave off a slight laugh. "It would, wouldn't it?" "Why don't we start with mopping the floor?" Fluttershy handed Discord a mop and a bucket full of soap water. "Oh, and thanks again for helping me with my chores!" Fluttershy said as she gave Discord a quick hug. Discord blushed and smiled as he began to mop the floor. ____________________________________ Thirty minutes later, Fluttershy came into the living room to check up on Discord, only to slip and fall. "DISCORD! What did you do to my floor?" Discord chuckled nervously. "I may have made it a little too slippery." Now, with two thirds of her house being a danger zone, Fluttershy gave Discord a list of chores to do while she fixed up her house. Discord snapped his fingers to change into a gardener's attire and looked at the list thoughtfully. "Let's see... first, I need to pull the weeds out of her garden. Easy enough."Discord looked at her flowers for weeds. He did pull out some successfully, but most of the time, they were actually the flowers Fluttershy had planted! Discord looked at his pile of weeds/flowers satisfactorily. "What's next? Discord glanced at the list. "Oh, joy," Discord said with a grumble. "Feeding the animals!" The less said about this unfortunate part of the story, the better. Let's just say Discord tried first to feed the animals the weeds and flowers he had collected ("They're plants, what could possibly go wrong?"). Then, when the animals rejected that, Discord started trying to feed the animals to each other, which of course threw everything into complete mayhem. Unfortunately, Pinkie walked, or rather hopped in on this fiasco. "Hi Fluttershy- WHOA, Discord! What HAPPENED here?" Discord turned his head while trying to trap Angel in a bag. "Oh hi, Pinkie!" Discord waved and chuckled nervously. "Fluttershy's inside." Discord pointed to the back door. "Not anymore!" Discord whipped his head to see Fluttershy staring at him, her eyes dark with anger. "WHAT. ARE. YOU. DOING?" "Nothing! I was just feeding the animals!" Discord put his paw and claw up in the air. "To each other!" "Yes, well-" "Discord, you could have helped me a lot more if you just used your magic instead of just challenging yourself!" Fluttershy's voice softened. "Well..." "What were you trying to do? Prove yourself?" Fluttershy inquired. "Um, no..." Discord looked away. "Then what were you trying to do?" Fluttershy's voice was now at its usual tone. Be honest, Discord, he thought. Discord gulped and took a deep breath. "You see... I just wanted to impress you because... because..." Pinkie was jumping up and down now with glee. "Come on, Discord, say it!" "I like you!" Discord blurted out awkwardly as Fluttershy's big, turquoise eyes grew wide as he continued. "It's just that you're so many different things, Fluttershy... all of the little moments where you were kind to me." Discord was as red as a cherry as he turned away sadly. "No one else makes me feel so happy, because you're the only one who believes that I'm not a monster." Well, at least you got it out, Discord, prepare for a friendless future. Discord turned to face Fluttershy. To his great surprise, Fluttershy was wearing a smile that spread from ear to ear. "I love you, too!" she exclaimed as she hugged Discord tightly. "I wanted to tell you but... I was too scared." "I- I... Discord's awe slowly turned into utmost happiness as he smiled the most he had ever smiled in all of his years. "Love you too." Fluttershy looked up at Discord, who was suddenly blushing again. Fluttershy focused her sea green eyes on the draconequus, and without words, silently expressed her repressed feelings through a simple action. Discord's heart was beating as fast as a hummingbird's wings as Fluttershy ever so slightly kissed him within a matter of seconds. Discord almost fainted from shock, but warmly took the uncertain Fluttershy and kissed her, as they both felt a beautiful new beginning coming their way. Little did they know that Pinkie, A.K.A. the ultimate shipper, was bouncing around Fluttershy's garden singing, "Oooh! This is so exciting! Are you excited because I've never been so excited.."
