Pain, that's all I'm feeling right now...
I try to open my eyes only to shut them from a blinding light, I try to get up, but I only succeed in lifting my head. I flip to my side and put my arm under me and rub the palm of my hand on my eye.
After a few seconds of blinking, My eyes finally adjust to the light and I can see I'm in some sort of medical bay or something.
I look to see my armor was removed, and I still felt huge amounts of pain in my body.
What the hell happened? I remember... Getting back to Eclipses town, and she took the foals to her house for awhile until I could come finally meet them... But that's all I remember...
I get up off the operating table I was on, and I try to walk, only to fall to the ground. My legs felt weak, and so did my arms, I lift myself off the ground, and get back to my feet.
I take a few weak steps, until I looked up, my eyes blurred, and I had a splitting headache. I rub my head in pain, and continue forward, until I get to the wall for support.
"Ahem"
I turn to look back to see Serenity in her hologram form, looking at me.
"Well... It's good your awake... But you shouldn't be right now, it's only been a few hours since you've been stable."
I look at her with a confused look, "What do you mean stable? Was I attacked or something?!"
She only sighs and shakes her head, "No, you were not... But you shouldn't even be awake, even if it's a good sign that your alive."
"If I wasn't attacked... What happened to me?" I ask
She sighs again before looking away, "I... Wasn't in the right of mind... I... I'm sorry..."
I give her another confused look, "What do you mean? What did you do?!"
I still couldn't see to well, but she was just close enough to see her flinch, "I... I found out... After the few days you were gone with Eclipse, that they had so much here... They had the means to make Spartan twos as well as three's... And I... Needed a test subject, and you were the only one anywhere, and I got curious of how Doctor Halsey did it all... And I thought I could... Make you a better Spartan by doing this..."
I look at her with narrowed eyes, "What do you mean, make me a better Spartan?"
She flinches again before sighing, "I... I did the unthinkable... And it worked... Sort of... I... I gave you the physical augmentations and serums they gave Spartan twos and three's... I... Enhanced you... And-"
"ARE YOU INSANE!?!?!"
She flinches from my yelling.
"ITS IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME TO BE ALIVE! I COULD HAVE NEVER SURVIVED ANY OF THAT WITHOUT BEING CRIPPLED IN SOME WAY!"
She looks down, not meeting my angry glare.
"OUT OF ABOUT THIRTY OF THE SEVENTY FIVE SURVIVED THAT! AND ABOUT TWELVE OF THEM WERE CRIPPLED FROM IT! AND THEY WERE ALL TRAINED TO ENDURE THE PAIN, AND WERE ALL CHILDREN THAT WERE MORE THEN ABLE TO ADAPT!"
She doesn't say a word, just looking down, and by now, I was beyond furious, I felt like I could tear down a Covenant Hunter with my bare hands, and beat fifty elites with its shield arm.
I just couldn't calm down, and I punch a wall in my anger, and when I look at it, I could see my fist print with blood in it now on the wall.
"And no! You didn't stop there! YOU FUCKING COMBINED IT WITH WHAT THEY DID TO SPARTAN THREE'S! ARE SO INSANE THAT YOU WANT ME DEAD!?!?!"
That's when I noticed her turn full on red, and she looks up, glaring at me with a fire that could burn suns.
"I did this to help you, and you yell at me... It was a success wasn't it? Your not dead are you? Your so much better then you were before... And yet you yell at me... I did this to help you fight and stand against the world, no, the UNIVERSE! AND YOU AREN'T THANKING ME FOR WHAT I DID?! THIS IS SUPPOSED TO HELP YOU MORE THEN ANYTHING!"
"OH! SO RISKING MY LIFE FOR A DAMN TEST WAS SO WORTH IT! I FEEL WORSE THEN WHEN I CAME HERE! AND I KNOW I DIDN'T GET AWAY SCOTT FREE DID I?!"
She's silent, looking down again, she then turned blue again, "I... I didn't do something correctly... You have... More then, a month to live... Two at best to live... I'm sorry..."
I just look at her, with wide eyes, "So... I'm going to die... In about one to two months..." She only nods.
I knew I would die at some point, but I thought I would die by old age, not from some god damn experiment...
I could only stand there, looking off into space, I had no idea what to do, until I looked back at Serenity.
"How long was I unconscious?" I ask, and she flinches again.
"Three weeks..."
I just look at her again before shaking my head, "I need to go check on Eclipse, if I don't, she'll think I left her with three foals... And wasted time." Serenity only nods before blinking out.
I sigh before looking off to the side to see my armor on a table, I walk over to it and see that it looks a bit different , as in, it looks a bit more armored... And bigger, that's when I realized that Spartan twos were about seven feet tall... And I look down, I don't think I got bigger, but I shrug it off, I don't really have long to live now, Why should I care?
'Dad?'
Wait, I forgot about Acid!
'Acid! Are you alright!?'
'Yeah dad, I'm fine... Serenity didn't do anything to me... But she did something to you... You don't seem right, and when you were unconscious, you thrashed in your sleep.'
'I... I'm fine, don't worry about me.'
'But... Dad'
"I said I was fine! Just drop the subject!"
She remains silent at my outburst, and I sigh.
After about... I have no fucking clue how long. I got all my damn armor on, and I was set to get moving again, that's when a list appeared in the front of my face, I look through it to see they were songs, my songs, ones I used to love listening to. Serenity appears in front of me after a minute and she looks down again.
"I added that to... At least make your now short life a bit more bearable... Again... I'm sorry." She flickers red, and that's when I knew I needed to ask.
"Serenity, what's happened to you?" She looks up at me in surprise before looking away.
"I'm corrupt Kent... A virus was in the system, and before long... It was to late to stop it..."
"But I saw it weeks ago, when I first put you in... It couldn't have been that fast."
She looks back at me before sighing, "It was a virus made by the Forunners to keep out anything like me... I destroyed most of the virus, but it affected me... I'm a bit more... Insane then I was." With that, she blinks out again, and I look down.
Did I fuck up by yelling at her? No... I didn't... She deserved to get yelled at...
I look back at the list, and I move my eyes down, and it scrolls down, I smile at the song I saw, Carry on wayward son.
I think for a second on how to get it to play when it just started playing, and I nod, before I walk out of the medical bay, nodding my head to the music.
Great music, two months to live, the possibility of attack from anywhere, and tons of weapons... I think I'll go out with a bang when the two months are up.
Best part of the music was it was helping ignore the pain in my legs, arms, and.. Well... Everywhere actually.
-Minutes later of walking-
I make it to the armory, and I look at all of the weapons when I turn the lights on, so many to choose from... And so little time to enjoy them... I shrug before just grabbing a DMR and a magnum and walking back to the entrance.
I open the hatch and climb out, as I get out, I stretch before walking to Eclipses town.
