//------------------------------// // Wolves of the Night (Day 1) // Story: Bejeweled: The Quest for the Prism // by TheStrategicGod //------------------------------// Bejeweled: Quest for the Prism Chapter 2: Wolves of the Night (Third Person View) As the Mane 6 went through the vortex that Tanzanite created, the girls expected a soft a cushy landing, turns out it was the exact opposite. "OW!!!" The girls groaned in pain as all the girls have created a pile of their own bodies. A blue gem appered in front of them as it floated as lit up a bright light.  "Apoligies for the landing, we have not yet perfected the teloprtation gem." Tanzanite explained. The girls started to untangled themselves as Twilight began to speak. "How are you able to communicate to us?" Twilight asked. "I shall use this gem to contact you throughout your mission, this way it will be easier to give any useful information." He concluded. "Great, teloporting gems, communication gems? What else do you have under you sleeve?" Rainbow rhetorically asked. "I'm grateful that you asked that Rainbow." He smirked. The used his magic once again to bring up his ranked badges. "What the?!" Rainbow exclaimed. "Collars?"  "I would to refer it as neck badges." He smiled pridefully. "Although I find them extremely adorable, whatever are these for?" Rarity asked. "These are to indicate your rank, meaning that the higher the number, the more experienced you are with the game." "So how do we get experience points?" Twilight asked. "Simple, the matches you have, the stronger you get. The points that you receive will be added to your experience points, or XP for short. What I suggest is that you try to face ponies suited to your rank."  "OH! So this is like an RPG Right?" Pinkie asked while everyone looked her confusingly.  "A what?" "Nevermind." Tanzanite clears his throat. "Anyway, since the basic information is out of the way, I think it's time that you get going, we don't have a second to waste." The girls nodded and began walking to said destination as the blue gem turned off. As the girls walked towards the country the looked at the title. "Welcome to the Canine Caves?" Rainbow said as she flew up to see the country's name. "Oh, what could there be on there?" Fluttershy wondered, both in curiousness and in worry. "Yer guess is as good as mine." Applejack retorted. Suddenly, the blue gem glowed a bright light, showing King Tanzanite again. "Apologies, but I forgot to mention that since the whole rumor of the Phoenix Prism, almost every country had bad blood between each other, so now no country is considered multi-cultural. Although I may not know what happened, I certainly know that somepony did something for it to occur." Tanzanite sighed in disappointment. "So how do you we plan on gettin' in there?" Applejack pointed a hoof at the place. "For the time being, I shall give you disguises so that the wolves won't tell the difference." After he finished, he heard Fluttershy whimper. "W-Wolves?" Fluttershy shivered in fear as Tanzanite raised his hoof in reassurance. "There is no need to be alarmed, they will not harm with no valid reason." Fluttershy felt a little bit more safe, but she was still going to take precautions.  "So how exactly are we gonna blend in?" Applejack asked with a hint of doubt in her tone. "That shall be taken care of right now." Before Applejack could asked what he meant, he used his magic to transform the girls into something they would have not excepted. "What the?!" Rainbow exclaimed for the second time. "What are we?" Twilight asked as she looked at her hooves. "And why do I have the urge to scratch myself?" As kept feeling her left ear flicking up and down. "You are now apart of the Canines." Tanzanite exclaimed. "I have turned you into wolves." Rarity gave a disgusted look. "Look how dreadful I am! I'm a filthy monster." Tanzanite snickered at the comment. "I'm sure you won't say that when you leave. Wolves have very sensitive hearing as a well as extremely high mobility, they are definitely faster than ponies on the ground. I'm certain you'll get used to the customs here." Tanzanite reassured as the gem turned off again. Twilight sighed, but then stood tall in encouragement. "Let's go girls! The world needs us!" The girls let out a big "Yeah!" and went to said destination, awaiting their new found challenges. (Canine Caves) As the girls went inside the town they noticed something off right off the bat. "Woah nelly!" Applejack exclaimed. "Is it just me, or did the whole place jus git dark?" She asked. "Geez, I can barley even see my hoof!" Rainbow said, squinting as she put her hoof in front of her face. The blue gem turned on again. "That's the town of the Canines for you, their town is mostly about darkness. Thankfully wolves can see through the night when the lights turn off." Tanzanite explained. Twilight put her hoof in front of her chin. "So when one of us battles somepony, how do we know what color the gem it is?"  "You shall know in due time." Tanzanite said as the blue gem turned off again. Twilight had to take a moment to process everything here. 'Okay, we have highly sensitive ears, but our eyes are slightly downgraded, what could the king possibly have for us in store?' she thought as the group arrived at the town.  "Well, here we are, the Canine Caves." Twilight said. Everyone awed at the place. Tons of wolves walking and talking to one another as if were a normal day. They were all wolves but to the girls eyes, they were ponies with longer ears, more fur, and shorter tails. As the girls kept walking they've gotten stares from most of the wolves. Some were curiosity while others were made of suspicion, being different colored wolves, they had the right to be.  "Okay girls, just stay calm, let's just hope that we don't run into trouble." Twilight said, but fate had other plans for the Mane 6. She didn't notice the little colt, er, wolf? That ran into her. "Or trouble can run into us." Rainbow said sarcastically.  "Ow, my head." The little wolf groaned.  "Oh I'm sorry." Twilight apologized as she helped the little wolf up. "No, I didn't know where I was going." Judging from the voice it must be male.  "Where ya running off to little fella?" Applejack asked.  "I was trying to find some gems to give to my sister, she said that-" he froze the minute he saw the six girls. "Hey! I've never seen wolves like you before, are you new here?" he asked. Twilight started to sweat in nervousness. "Well, Uh, y-you can say that." She chuckled awkwardly. The boy have off a suspicious look but then smiled afterward. "Well, welcome to the Canine Caves." He said as he raised his paw/hoof at Twilight, in which she shook. "What your name? I'm Twilight Sparkle." She introduced herself as well as her friends. "Nice to meet you, I'm Toothless." Toothless said.  "But you have teeth in your mouth silly!" Pinkie cocked her head sideways. Toothless giggled at the attempt of humor. "No, my name is Toothless. It's nice to meet you all." Toothless smiled. "Ya said you mentioned ya had a sister right? What's her name?" Applejack asked. "Her name's Munchie." Toothless took a second to process what he said. "Ironic don't you think?" Toothless chuckled. "How so?" Twilight asked. "Since I'm the older brother by two years, I have more canines than her." Twilight raised her eyebrow. "Canines?"  "Yeah look." He said as he showed them his teeth, the girls gasped in horror as they saw his teeth, tons of sharp teeth was shown in the front.  "Well?" He began. "What do you think?" He asked. Twilight swallowed the giant lump in her throat as she tried to come up with a response. "It's certainly...growing." She chuckled nervously as Toothless raised his eyebrow. "You know, for a bunch of grown wolves, you girls are weird."  "Yeah, we get that a lot." Pinkie chriped. Toothless shrugged his shoulders. "Hey, you said that you doing something with your sister, what would that be?" Twilight wondered. "Oh, me and her always make deal with each other for fun, she said she'd trade me my four white gems for one of her purple gems. Unfortunately I don't have have enough gold coins for it." Twilight put her hoof on her chin. "How much do you need?" Tooth took out the white gems from his bag and started counting. "Hmm...about...200." Rainbow eyes lit up. "Hey! Why don't we play a little one on one. A little match couldn't hurt once in a while right? Rainbow asked while Applejack gave her a raised eyebrow. "How is a match gonna solve our mess here?" Toothless gave off a thinking posture. "Well, my sister's waiting for me, but on the other paw, if we can start a match now I can get those gold coins I need." "So...is it a deal?" Rainbow edged him on. "Well...ok, but we gotta make this a quick one."  Rainbow let out a cheery "yes!" but then realized there wasn't a stage to battle on. "Um...pardon me deary but, where is the stage?" Rarity looking left and right to find the battlefield.  "Oh, it's everywhere," He took off his rank badge. "You just need to take this off." He said as he put his badge on the ground. Soon the badge let out a soft glow as the badge descended to the ground. "So? Who going to face me?" Toothless asked. Rainbow pushed Twilight in front for her to volunteer. Twilight silently glared at Rainbow as she whistled innocently.  "I guess I'll give it a try." Twilight seemed hesitant, but took her badge off and placed it on the floor. Soon, their badges started to create a white sphere, well, half of it anyway, surrounding Twilight and Toothless. The Mane 6 gasped and awed at the sight, seeing how the battlefield was created. "Pretty neat huh?" Toothless smirked. Twilight nodded slack jawed. "Since this is probably your first time, I can go easy on you." Twilight seemed confused at the statement. "How do you know it's my first time?" Toothless shrugged. "I took a look at your badge and it said LVL 1 with no XP in it, I'm just assuming that your a Rookie." Toothless looked up at the ceiling of the battlefield and saw the gems falling. Twilight followed Toothless' actions as he smirked. "You ready for this Twilight?" Toothless said as he ran to get into position. 'Celestia I sure hope so.' With that last thought, the match was about to begin with her friends cheering her on. 1:00 GO!!! (Tanzanite Castle, Battle Arena, First Person) "Through the communication gem, I can see the girl's progress throughout their journey, this way I can answer any questions that they may have." I told Kyan as she stroked her hoof. "This is truly outstanding!" Kyan smiled. "You have certainly out done yourself, it seems that technology is reaching to a whole new level." My face turned a bit red from the praise but smiled. "Yeah, took me a while to figure out how to make it work, but I eventually got it down." I took a look at the gang were Twilight was battling against a werewolf, it was smaller than Twilight so it must be still a pup. 'Hmm...although this is Twilight's first battle, she's facing a Trainee, this may be an interesting battle.' I thought as me and Kyan spectated the match, but only the gem malfunction. Raising my eyebrow, I inspected the gem only to have it broke into pieces. "Well that doesn't happen often." I said as I heard the door open as two guards ran hastily to me. "Your majesty! It seems we have a problem!" One of the guards panically stated. I look of concern consumed on my face. "What kind of problem?" I asked suspiciously. That was until then an explosion erupted in front of the battle arena knocking out the two guards and hitting them against the wall. A pile of dust and debris pretty much just surrounded the entrance. I squinted to try to look at the attacker only to believe that my had failed me. "Well well, what a touching reunion, right brother?" The sheer voice of sarcasm sent me to sheer terror. 'No! Could it be?!' I asked myself as my whole body froze up like a deer in headlights, me and Kyan gasped as i saw the one pony I'd never thought to see in my entire life. "Tourmaline..." I whispered. Tourmaline or...my brother, was a black colored unicorn with with the eyes, mane, and tail all red, filled with mischievousness and hate, though I can understand why. He wore the same type of robe an crown that I was, the only difference was the color, both black and red, and the fact that his robe has a decal of flames. His crown is what made me cringe the most, because it reminded me of what happened, how it happened, and what he became. The one thing I noticed on his crest was his rank, 101, five levels above me, and he made sure it stayed like that. His crest was the opposite, his resembled himself, all of his sadness, hate, and anger through all of those years. It pains me so to him this way, and now he's here to take revenge...at least that's what I'm expecting. What else would he come here for? My assumptions started to act amongst themselves, turning into groans of annoyance. "What do you want Tourmaline?" The only response was a evil smirk as he began to speak. (Tourmaline POV) Ahh...how long has it been since you tormented me, ignore me, and even ABANDONED ME!?! Such great times right brother?! Anyways, I could just see the sheer terror on his face when I entered his arena. His reaction was just priceless. I smirked at him and gave him a small greeting. "What a touching reunion, right brother?" I gave him a rhetorical question. I see the look on his face, the look of fear. As soon as he realized it was me, his face went from fear to slightly annoyed expression. "What do you want Tourmaline?" I gave him a tisk in disappointment. "What? Can't I visit my own brother once in a while?" I asked. "By visiting you mean attempting to murder me because of jealousy?" My brother replied. Although my devious smiled did not falter, my tone did. "This is all assumptions my dear brother, what makes you think I'll do it again?" I smiled innocently, though my brother didn't buy it one bit.  "I've known since the day we were born, what makes you think I would ever fall for your tricks?" Ok...time to bring this thing home. "Well, somepony's clever. Although, I'm pretty sure I tricked you to thinking that all of your friends had "a fight"." His confused gaze turned into to shock. "What did you do?!" He yelled, seems like his temper is getting to him.  "What did I do?! Weren't you the one who started the whole thing?" This is priceless! I can see him grinding his teeth.  "Don't you DARE put words in my mouth! You framed me!"  "And yet your little buddies don't seem to  know that." I smirked. My brother started to charge his horn to attack me, but all I needed to do was tilt my head to the left a bit and I dodged it. Yeah, my brother was never the best at aiming.  "Still having trouble with your aiming brother? Battle me right now, and show me how good you really are." I said as I put my crown down on the ground, absorbing it and waiting for my easily readable brother. He didn't waste any time accepting my challenge dropping his crown on the ground. "WAIT STOP! ITS WHAT HE WANTS!" The chief guard mare yelled, but it was too late.  "Ready to lose once again brother?" I taunted. "I will never back down from a battle!" I snickered.  "Still haven't learned your place brother? Don't worry, I'll set you straight." Little did he know that I absorbed his magic with my crest from behind and have a handy little multiplier boost. And with that being said. The battle began to start, as did my boost began to activate. Too bad his arrogance is the reason he always loses, but then again, I prefer to keep it that way.  (Canine Caves, Third Person View) Twilight and Toothless were going at it in their heated battle as Toothless was running around the field collecting all kinds of gems while earning points, but since his multiplier was still 1x, but it wasn't as much. The girls  supporting Twilight noticed that it was a close battle, with Toothless being 5,000 points ahead of Twilight, there wasn't much room for error. While Twilight and Toothless were collecting gems, the rest of gang noticed one of the yellow gems with a symbol on it. It looked like it had a bit inside it. "I'm curious." Rarity stated while Applejack raised her eyebrow. "About what?"  "That yellow gem over there." This is when Rainbow stepped into the conversation. "You noticed it to huh?" Rarity nodded.  "What do you think it is?" Applejack wondered. "Surely it must have some significance, does it not?" Rainbow shrugged. "I'm gonna ask Tanzanite about it." Rainbow grabbed the gem and turned it on, or at least attempted to. Rainbow kept shaking the gem, hoping it would do something, but no avail. "If I only knew how to open this thing." Rarity picked it up out if Rainbow's hooves as she gave a look at it. Rarity attempted to open it or at least do something, but all she got out of it was a tiny spark. "Whatever the gem is, Toothless ain't having any second thoughts about grabbin' it." Applejack said as she watched Toothless grabbed the yellow gems and put them together with two other yellow gems, thus giving him a tremendous lead on Twilight. Twilight tried to catch up but before she knew it, it was over. TIME UP With the Last Hurrah in motion (which Twilight didn't know about), they showed the results. Twilight Sparkle: 17, 540 Toothless: 21, 780   "I...lost?" Twilight was bewildered, this was the first time had lost...anything. Toothless walked up to Twilight and place his paw on her chest. "Don't worry about it to much, this was your first wasn't it?" He asked as Twilight nodded. "Just think of it as another way of learning the game." With Toothless' words, Twilight smiled at his assurance. "And besides I finally got the gold coins I needed. Anyways, thanks playing the game with me, it was fun. Bye Twilight!" He yelled as he ran towards his home or rather his sister. Once Toothless was out of sight, the gang went towards Twilight.  "I'm deeply sorry that you lost Twilight." Rarity said. "Yeah, ya can't win them all Twi." Applejack added while padding her. Twilight shrugged. "You know what? I'm okay with it." The girls seemed surprised by her statement. "Why would you like to lose?" Rainbow asked. "It's not like I like to lose, but Toothless made me realize that losing is just another way of learning." Rainbow raised her eyebrow. "Really?" She seemed skeptical. "What's so good about losing?" Twilight was about to answer until she heard grumbling, in her stomach and chuckled sheepishly. "How about I tell you after we get something to eat first." As everyone else's stomach started to growl, they nodded in agreement. As they started to walk, the girls came to a realization, that a new problem has arisen.  "Does anypony know where to go?" Rainbow asked everyone. Twilight put her paw on her chin as if she was pondering.  "I'm sure we can ask other pon- *ahem* wolves, that can show us the way. That means more adventure for us right?" Rainbow agreed at her logic and continued on with the rest of the girls. Little did the girls know is what Canine Caves serves for food. (Tanzanite Castle, Third Person View) TIME UP Tourmaline: 567,450 Tanzanite: 498, 990 After Tanzanite's crushing defeat, he was on floor in agony from the brutal attacks his brother had given him. It only took him a few seconds for him to get back up. Tourmaline grabbed his brother's crown and started playing with it. "Huh, rank 100." He let out a snort of derision. "I seriously doubt that." He said as he threw his bother's crown back at him. Tanzanite thankfully got up, but with the assistance of Kyanite. "Dear brother, you can't do this." It was at this moment when Tanzanite had surpassed his anger and tried to reason with him, since he was to injured to do anything at the moment. "Do what? Getting revenge on my brother that I so rightly deserve? Please! Who's going to stop me?" Tourmaline rhetorically asked. Tanzanite fully stood up. "If there is no other option, then I will." Tourmaline could only laugh at his statement. "Really? And how is that working out for you?"  "Someday, I WILL surpass your level." Tourmaline gave his brother a dismissive wave. "Yeah, I'm sure you will, maybe in a couple of years." Tanzanite anger started to rise again, but contained it knowing what the consequences were going to be. "With my plan in motion, all I need is the Phoenix Prism which I'm going to get."  "And you think you can just retrieve it?" Tourmaline let out a snort. "Oh I don't think so," Tourmaline zapped his brother, causing him to clutch his chest with pain. "I know so. I outrank you for a reason." He smirked. "Oh! And also one for the road." He stated as he used his magic to knock Kyanite unconscious. Tanzanite seeing this, he grunted with anger. "Y-You'll never get away with this!" Tanzanite grunted. "Aww," Tourmaline padded his brother in the head. "I already have." With that last statement. Tourmaline teleported away from the castle. Tanzanite didn't know what to do, but he definitely had to train those girls. "Will these girls really come to our aid?"
