The Peridot Present

"A love potion?" Rarity frowned. "Wouldn't that be... well-"

"What?" Sweetie Belle asked considerably.

"I dunno, cheating?" Rarity said uncertainly. "I mean, what's the point of marrying someone if it's not out of their true love inside..."

"Oh, come on big sis! Once you know him an' all and know what he likes and stuff then you can make the antidote!" Sweetie Belle smiled.

"But-"

"No buts big sis, you know I'm right. Now, go make a love potion!" Sweetie Belle opened the door and shoved Rarity outside, slamming the door behind her.

"Well, I never." Rarity grunted.

As she headed to Twilight's library, she ran into Spike.

"Hey Rarity, hows it going?" Spike smiled. "You wanna come to Twilight's? I have something for you!"

Rarity knew Spike had a crush on her, and he was probably going to give her a gem or something. She liked this though, and fancied calling him her 'Spikey-Wikey' because of this.

"Thanks Spike! I'd love to see your gift and actually, I was heading there just now!" Rarity laughed. They both began to walk to the Golden Oak Library together. Soon, they arrived. Spike let Rarity in first.

"Ladies first." He smiled. Rarity giggled.

"Twilight!" Spike called. "Rarity's here!" Twilight came down the stairs to greet Rarity.

"Hey Rarity, Spike has a little something to show you..."

Rarity smiled. "Yes, and also I'm wondering if you have any books on... love potions?" Rarity nudged Twilight's shoulder.

"Rarity... What are you up to..." Twilight grinned. Spike wasn't listening. He was too busy getting the surprise ready for Rarity.

"It was Sweetie Belle's idea!" Rarity chuckled.

"Now don't go playing the blame game Rarity, you know you want this love potion don't you?" Twilight used her magic to levitate a book titled Book of Potions: Grade 1 in front of Rarity's face. Rarity snatched it greedily.

"I'll take that!" Rarity said triumphantly.

"Page 67." Twilight mumbled. Rarity levitated the book into her saddlebag.

"Thank you!"

"Just remember what happened when the CMC made that love potion..."

"Oh, Twilight!" Rarity laughed. "You won't have to worry your pretty little head about something like that. Rarity has everything under control!" She smiled.

"If you say so." Twilight shrugged.

"Now, what is you wanted to show me my little Spikey-Wikey?" Rarity asked, turning to Spike. Spike started digging through a large bag, throwing things aside occasionally.

"Aha!" He beheld. He held out a gem. It was covered it dirt, and you could hardly see what kind of gem was underneath all the filth.

"It's... Beautiful? Rarity tried to smile.

"Oh!" Spike smiled sheepishly. He cleaned off the gem with his fire breath, then held it out again. Now Rarity could see that it was a spherical, perfectly carved, polished green peridot! Rarity's eyes changed to reflections of the amazing gemstone.

"Forget beautiful, it's FABULOUS!!!" Rarity beamed. She grabbed Spike and squeezed him tight. Then, she saw what she was doing, blushed, then set him down, patting him on the head. And that gemstone made her day.

"Is she gone?" A voice whispered from behind the sofa in the Carousel Boutique.

"Yup." Sweetie Belle smiled, looked out the window. Rarity was nowhere in sight.

"Coast is clear!" The pony behind the sofa shouted. Two ponies dashed to Sweetie's side. One, Apple Bloom, came bounding from down the stairs. The other, Scootaloo, came out from behind the sofa.

"Operation continue-crusading is go!" Apple Bloom grinned.

SNAP! CRACK! CRAAAASH!!!

"That sounded like it came from upstairs!" Sweetie Belle informed. The three dashed up the stairs, to find a very angry Fluttershy standing there.

"We're sorry we tied you up and put duct tape around you mouth..." Scootaloo apologized guiltily.

GIIIIIIRRRRRLLLLLLSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!

"What was that noise?" Rarity covered her ears while walked back to the boutique. All the windows of the boutique smashed. Rarity gasped. "Sweetie Belle?" She ran toward her house concerned.
