I open my eyes from my not too long sleep, I yawn and crack my neck. I look around and see through the windows that the sun had gone down.
"Weird, didn't think it be that long of a ride..."
I stretch my arms before trying to get up, only to feel a weight on my lap, I look down to see Eclipse had fallen asleep on my lap. I could hear her soft snores and her ear was flicking.
I cock my head for second before just remaining silent, I know not to wake people up because it can ruin they're mood, and I rather not have her pissed at me, don't ask how many times that's happened to me.
I start to stare off into space.
I wonder what my family have been up too? Hopefully they're doing alright. I know my siblings could get really annoying for my parents, and I'm the only one who can really keep them distracted, all I did was say, 'Hey! Anybody wanna watch me play Skyrim?!' And they'd run down to watch as I slayed Dragons, Giants, large numbers of foes and any real beast that would try to fight me.
I sigh, I really wish for my old life back, but, I can't dwell on such things, this is my life now, and I have to push forward, if I don't... Well, that just means there's no point of standing up then. I would just need to give up, but, I'm not one for giving up easily.
I look back down at Eclipse, and slowly try to push her off of my lap, so I could get up. I get close until she moves quickly and latches onto my stomach, hugging me with her eyes still closed, fast asleep. I won't admit that nearly scared the shit out of me, I'll say I jumped a bit... You can't prove anything!
So, now here I am, with a bat pony latched to my stomach. I sigh and try to pry her off me, only for her grip on me to be too tight, I sigh for the third time, and finally give up. It's not like she was doing anything wrong, more or less she's just asleep, and I can understand when stuff like this happens, person is asleep, and they grab anything that's close by for no reason... But there are those weird people who eat the thing they're holding, but I'm completely sure she's just latching onto the closest thing to her, which is me.
I put my hands behind my head and close my eyes, maybe I can get a bit more sleep before we arrive at Canterlot.
'Daddy?'
Well... There went my hopes for sleep...
'Yes Acid?'
'Where are we going?'
This seems familiar... Don't know why though...
'To a big city with a castle.'
She silent before asking another question, at this rate, I'll never get sleep, and I love my sleep!
'Why are we going there?'
'We're going there to gather three recruits'
'What for?'
'So we can make more Spartans like me.'
She's silent. And as I wait, she remains silent, and I sigh in relief as I lean my head back to finally get sleep, only for the train to stop. I look at the window and see a large tower and few buildings around.
Fucking perfect... I hate when I can't sleep.
I reach down and go against what I didn't want to do, I poke Eclipse.
"Oi, wake up! We're here."
She stays asleep and I groan and poke her again.
"Hey! I said get up! Stop you're sleeping!" She groans and waves hoof at me before going back to sleep, she let go of me, so I push her off of me and she groans again before lifting her head at me.
"Can't a mare get any sleep?!"
"No, because we need to get moving, we still got a job to do."
She grumbles something before yawning and walking off the end of the caboose and onto the tracks before climbing up onto the platform. I get off the end of the caboose and turn on my invisibility cloak and climb onto the platform.
I watch as ponies walk around, talking or just moving past, I creep past most of them, tailing Eclipse as she walked away. Hopefully we can find an orphanage and they'll still be open.
-1 hour later-
So me and Eclipse met up a few times in alleyways and behind buildings to talk, Acid was quiet, not quite liking this place, and I'll agree with her, I hate places that look to rich for anything else but big buildings.
I had to skirt past a few guards, but they weren't really hard to get past, because they're guards... Pony guards... You must know what I'm getting at with this.
So after all that time, we finally end up at a nice looking orphanage, again, I can't name it because I don't know letters or symbols they're using.
We stop outside of its doors and Eclipse looks at the bending of light that is me.
"So, am I going to go in alone or?"
I look at her, "No, I'll come in as well, I want to see who look like able recruits." She nods her head and turns to go in but I stop her.
"You know how to do this all, right?" She nods at me.
"Course I do, it's quite simple, and if we stay here until day, I could possibly get them tomorrow morning and we can take the train."
She looks back at the door and enters, I follow close behind.
As we enter, I feel a bit warmer and a bit more safe, I guess they have that for the foals. I look around to see there are a few pictures on the walls, a bit of furniture around the place, in all honesty, it looks decent.
We continue until we find a mare at a desk looking at some paper, she looks up at Eclipses approach.
"Hello, it's quite late, have you come to consider adoption?"
"Yes, I came to adopt"
The mare claps her hooves together, "Wonderful! I can take you to were they all sleep, but you must be very quiet, they're all sleeping."
Eclipse nods, and the two of them start down a hallway, I look around one more time before following them.
We walk down the hallway for a few minutes before getting to a door, the mare opens it and walks in slowly, Eclipse and I follow. When we get in, we look around to see bunk beds on both sides of the large room, an in them are the forms of sleeping fillys and colts.
As I look, I can't see many foals, I mean, there aren't many, so that means the they were getting adopted, which is good, and there were still a few they could be potential recruits.
The mare says something to Eclipse I can't hear, and I watch as they turn yo leave, I look back at the foals, then follow after them, this should be interesting.
-Morning-
So I and Eclipse found a place to stay after the short visit, we then find are selves back in the lobby with the same mare, her and Eclipse were chatting, while I stayed in a corner, hidden in the shadows, there was enough to where I could hide without the invisibility cloak, which is perfect.
I sigh, this little mission is almost over, and we can leave this place, I'm getting tired of seeing nobles with they're noses so stuck up that it makes me want to punch them with all my might, which would kill them, would I really care? Nope! Not one fucking bit! They deserve what they would get.
I look up as I hear a bit of noise coming from the room with the children, sounds like they're already up... Reminds me of my siblings, I shake my head and look up as the mare excuses herself and leaves through the doors, I guess we gotta wait a bit longer.
-Look! 1 hour later! Fantastic!-
So after the foals had breakfast, to which I realize I haven't eaten anything in a long time! and my stomach is pretty angry about it, and he is voicing his opinions quite loudly. We finally get to see some of the foals more up and personal, or, more or less, Eclipse gets to get closer while I have to keep a distance so I don't get bumped into while I'm invisible.
There were quite a few, not a lot, but a good amount, I can see a green unicorn colt with a black mane and tail running around with a white earth pony filly with a blonde mane and tail, laughing without a care in the world, enjoying life. I shake my head and turn to see Eclipse talking to another filly, this one was a Pegasus, she's cyan with a darker blue mane and tail, at the tips of her wings they're red, and she was nice rose red eyes.
I slowly walk crouch over to get a better look, and I can tell that she may make a good recruit, she looks young and happy, full of life, and she looks to be in good shape.
"So what's you're name little filly?" I hear Eclipse ask
"Amber Shine" she responds.
Oh god... My mind just remembered something... Foals like these are freaking adorable! She just has those big eyes, full of wonder and youth, oh god, at this rate I'll get diabetes from the cuteness overload!
I look away and at the other foals running around or playing with toys... And I smile, I love places like this, I just like to see so many happy faces. I hate when people just ignore that, but I will never ignore a child... Unless it's my siblings or they're idiot friends, then I will do everything in my power to get away from them.
I start backwards, only to feel something ram into my back. I turn to see a colt rubbing his muzzle from where he hit me.
He looks up at me, only to see nothing, he gains a confused look before getting up and poking me. He cocks his head, even more confused, he tries to poke me again, but I moved away, and his hoof poked nothing but the air.
I swear I could see the gears turning in that little head of his, until another colt came and tagged him and ran off, the colt immediately starts chasing after the other one, and I sigh in relief, seriously just dodged a bullet right there.
So after a few minutes more of looking at the foals, I found the three. First one is Amber Shine, the second is Golden Star, a yellow unicorn colt with a red mane and tail with grass green eyes, and the last one is a grey Earth pony colt who's name is Silver Degree, he has a black mane and tail with ocean blue eyes.
These are my future Spartans, I know what you're all thinking. Don't they need to have a specific blood type and such? Well... From what I know of Spartan three's, they don't need a specific blood type, they just need to be children, and they need to be trained and giving... Whatever they gave to Spartan three's, I really think it's a serum that they gave them, not really sure.
But, after about half an hour of Eclipse getting everything in order, we were finally on are way back to the train with the foals, they were full of excitement at being adopted, and it made me happy to see them happy... And then I got cocky, and I can't believe what I did... I took a HUGE risk... But after watching too much Vanossgaming prop hunt, I risked it.
I went behind two guards, took off my invisibility cloak, and start dancing, now, if you thought I was doing some kind of dance... You were dead wrong, I was dancing like the way eleventh Doctor would... Basically, my arms are waving about and I'm acting like an idiot.
And you can guess, the nobles stopped and looked at me with wide eyes and open mouths, the guards just looked confused, and they would turn around, only for me to disappear, then reappear when they turn back around.
This went on for a minute before finally a mare noble screamed, to which, Bugged out and was gone before more guards could arrive. I was back on the train just as it was leaving. And I watch as a commotion starts, and I proceed to laugh my ass off before going back into the caboose and sitting down, still snickering to myself.
Maybe this would be fun after all?
