Thief in canterlot 7
Walking through the streets were many noble ponies going through their daily lives, all were speaking of the window that was present at the rise of the sun where one of the windows was mysteriously dim. In the streets one of the Canterlot unicorn nobles with a green vest who had a cup of tea was talking with another unicorn stallion with a monocle in a café with his own cup of tea.
“Have you heard the rumors going around the city right now?” The other stallion responded with his answer.
“Are you referring to the window at the castle that wouldn’t shine?” The stallion sips his tea and plates it back “Yes I have, it’s the talk of the town, but I fail to see what could be so fascinating with a window that simply wouldn’t shine.”
The other stallion immediately put his bits on the rumor “Well I think its cause of those mud lovers, not doing their job properly, I tried to reason with the Princess that having Unicorn ponies would be much more efficient than those mud lovers but she wouldn’t listen and gave those ponies positions. Now look one of them slacked off and forgot to clean a window, something us unicorns would never overlook.”
The other stallion raised his eyes in question of this stallions ‘bits’ “I can assure you Jet Set that you and everypony in Equestria loves Princess Celestia just as much as anypony else and I’m certain with time everypony will also love and appreciate Princess Luna as well. What I’m saying is that I’m certain that what you claim to be false.”
Jet Set protests this “Fancy Pants I am certain that those mud lovers are responsible for that dulled window, the only other explanation for having a dull window is if someone actually dared to even steal from the princesses I’m sure that you aren’t suggesting somepony actually dared break into the castle are you?”
Fancy Pants swirled his tea as he pondered this “Well it would be ridiculous for somepony to actually raid the castle. IF they even miraculously escaped the castle, the pony would be the target of the princesses’ wrath and its entire nation from stealing from its beloved princess.
Jet Set then spoke up again “That’s why it couldn’t be anything else but those mud lovers slacking off on their job on the castle.”
Fancy Pants shook his head in disagreement “I’m certain that it couldn’t be one of the earth ponies’ cleaners of the castle, I meet with several of them on my visits with the princesses and with how they work I’m certain that they wouldn’t dare miss a spot of the castle while they are there.”
Jet Set then raised the question that he wanted to say “Then tell me what are your thoughts about why the window wasn’t shining like the rest?”
Fancy pants once again swirled his tea before taking another sip and placing his cup on its plate “Well if I have the guess, I honestly don’t know.”
Jet set at this was curious to this “Why is that?”
Fancy answered “It’s that I know fact that ALL the cleaners for one are doing their job, but I can’t help but find that the other option to be more believable than the other but just as you say I’m also assured that no pony would even conceive the idea from stealing from the princess.”
Jet set sighed and grasped his tea with his magic “Then I guess we will be on a stand still about this rumor.”
Fancy grasped his own tea with his own magic “I suppose so.”
They both sipped their teas and just pondered on their thoughts about the rumor. Fancy then finished his tea before Jet Set and rose form his chair and placed his bits on the table.
“It was a nice morning having a chat with you Jet Set but I must depart now, don’t want to leave my wife working to long, it’s finally her day off from all those modeling trips.” Jet set smiled at this and spoke.
“A yes, you wouldn’t want Mrs. De Lis to be kept waiting.” Jet set smiled as he looked at his remaining tea “You are a very lucky stallion Mr. Fancy Pants.”
Fancy becomes curious at this “Oh is that so?”
Jet Set continued “Mrs. De Lis is a mare of extraordinary beauty and many stallions are always desiring her, Tartarus, before I met Upper Crust even I wanted her for myself, yet she remains faithful to you no matter the stallion. Take good care of her.” Jet Set said as he raised his cup to Fancy Pants who smiled at what his friend said.
“Of course that was my only desire ever since we started going out.” Fancy did a quick bow and so did Jet Set as Fancy walked away back to his abode.
Fancy viewed the city that he was born and raised in as he looked around he greets all the other noble ponies who all come and greet him. They start asking him questions and what his thoughts were on everyday things but Fancy replied “I’m terribly sorry, I would enjoy having a nice chat with all of you ponies but my wife is waiting for me, and I wouldn’t want to keep her waiting, so I must make cut our chat for today.” All the ponies understood this and then said their good byes and left for other things while fancy went back to walking to his abode.
10 minutes later/
Fancy Pants stops at his front gates and views his mansion surrounded by a tall iron gate, a building with a cream colored texture, 20 windows, a large garden with the finest ornaments and flowers and Fleur De Lis, and a large double door with a golden texture and a carving of the two sisters. Fancy walked past the gate and opened the door to view his entrance room of red carpets of the finest materials and a chandelier of cylinder shaped crystals shining brightly across the room, with a marble stair case leading two ways apart that lead to the second floor. A line of maids and stewards were in front of the stair case and bowed saying.
“Welcome home Master Fancy Pants.” Fancy smiled at them and said.
“I’m back everypony.” He then walked up to one of the older stewards who is a Pegasus who had a yellow mane with gray steaks and some wrinkles appearing on his face but otherwise a fairly tall stallion with a cutie mark of a wine glass on a silver platter.
“Mr. Glass do you know where my wife currently is? I wish to speak with her, it’s been quite some time since our last chat.” Mr. Glass bowed his head with a frown on his face.
“I’m sorry Master Fancy but I’m afraid that Mistress Fleur de Lis is out on an ‘important task’ that she must attend to. I am unaware of what task she has, as when I asked her where she was heading to she replied that she will be back in about an hour.”
Fancy smiled while sighing as he knows where Fleur would be when she says ‘important task’ “I see, well I just came to talk with Fleur but if she’s not here I suppose I’ll find something else to do for the hour.
Glass still had a frown and said “I’m fairly sorry Master Fancy Pants I’ll be sure to send you Quick Speed when Mistress Fleur De Lis returns.” Fancy smiled and waved his hoof.
“That won’t be necessary I’m sure that Quick Speed would like a break as I did ask her to send a Package to my company before my tea time with Jet Set, but please do tell Mr. Bon to prepare tonight’s dinner to the specifications that I requested to him a couple days ago.
Glass bowed and spoke in a caring tone. “Of course Master Fancy Pants I’ll be sure to tell him, please do take care and enjoy your day.” As he rose he had a smile on his face as Fancy smiled as well.
“Well then I’ll be off.” Fancy then left through the door in which his maids opened for him, “Thank you Lin, Rin.”
The two maids bowed their heads and spoke “It is no trouble at all Master Fancy Pants, please enjoy your day.”
Fancy smiled as he walked out and walked past the gate again and breathed the air as he spoke. “Well I guess I should be heading to Fleur now, probably making some more arrangements for her side business.”
Edge of Canterlot/
Phantom climbs down from the tall spire and lands back on the base. He reviews the shop he saw in his mind reciting recognizable landmarks.
“Alright I know it’s near a tall tower with a purple flag, next to a newspaper office, and it has a pink and white entrance roof. Phantom nods his head as he confirmed his land marks and then starts searching for his home.
“Better get ready, I’m going to need to be more careful and fast now that the guards are even searching this part of the city and also….” The sun beats down hard on Phantom as he starts to sweat “It’s so damn hot!!” Phantom then starts surveying the area and spots his home and starts making his way there jumping upon roof after roof. He lands onto a building and sees a group of ponies gathered around a well-dressed earth pony (by their standards). It seems like they are talking about something which leads to Phantom’s curiosity and leads him to the edge of the roof and leans in on the conversation of the pony who is speaking about…
“The rumor going around among everypony in the main city is a dull window at the princesses’ castle. I fail to see the significance but those noble ponies think that the earth ponies are slacking off on our job, my own Employer Jet Set told me that he won’t pay if I slack off as well. I mean it’s not our kinds fault if an incident happens but they blame it on us anyway believing their kind would never make a mistake and Pegasus are more useful than Earth ponies.” He body shakes in frustration “I know we may be seen as third rates, but they all believe that the earth ponies in the castle are slacking off.”
One of the ponies in the group spoke up “Well we can’t deny the possibility of there being a pony in the castle slacking off in her job.”
The Earth pony said “We can’t deny that, that’s why they think it’s us earth ponies simply because we are 3rd rates to them. It can’t be possible but I really hope it’s the second possibility.”
Another pony spoke up “And what would that be?”
The earth pony took a deep breath and sighed “That somepony broke into the princesses’ castle.”
Everypony in the crowd gasped at the very idea that somepony would actually even conceive the idea of stealing from the princess.
One of the ponies shouted out in frustration. “Why would you believe such a preposterous thing, nopony in their right mind would ever do that?!”
“Well it’s the only other possibilities that other ponies could think of, no pony would dare harm the princess even Gryphonia one of the most prideful kingdoms in Equestria respect the princesses. What creature would do such a thing, that’s why the noble ponies choose to blame it on us earth ponies.” Stomping his hooves in frustration the earth stallion was riled up with all the nobles blaming his species simply because they aren’t unicorn.
A pony then asked “Why are you so agitated about this?” The ponies started to look at the one who spoke and to everyponys surprise it was an earth pony mare. The mare continued speaking “I understand and I speak for all us earth ponies that we also are just as frustrated as you when it comes to those noble ponies but that’s been going on in Canterlot for many years now. Why does this news make you so frustrated when many similar ones have happened before?”
The earth stallion just sulked his head as he spoke but more sullen than before “It’s because my best friend who is an earth pony works in the castle.” All the ponies and even Phantom were surprised by this.
He told the story “He was just a pony looking for a job like everypony here, but no pony accepted him simply because he was an earth pony. I got lucky with Jet Set because of me doing cleaning duties at the restaurant I was working at before. He saw the quality of my work when I was cleaning the outside of the restaurant and he said he had a vacant spot and offered it to me. I was happy to get a better job that I had forgotten my friend who has been searching for a job for a long time.” He sighed and all the ponies were listening even Phantom who forgot his main objective was drawn in with this character.
“I felt so guilty after that but I couldn’t back out, I needed a better job and I was hoping the restaurant would accept him instead but they already filled my position with a Pegasus. My friend is prideful so he could never ask the princesses for help but I saw the state he was in and I became desperate so I went to the court line to ask Princess Celestia to help my friend find a job. When I arrived it was too late and the court ended I was going to leave until I remembered that Nigh- I mean Princess Luna returned and the night court was available I waited for it to open and when it did I was the only one there so I went first to ask. She accepted my request and before I knew it he busted through my door in the middle of the night and shook me saying that he got an evening shift working in the castle.”
He smiled at the memory of his friend busting his door and shaking his head so hard “I’ll never forget that face when he finally got a job.” Then he got all frustrated and smashed his hoof to the side of his head. “That’s why it’s so frustrating, I simply can’t just let that rumor slip by me like I do every time. My friend there is working to the point of exhausted and yet he is one of the few earth ponies that work in the castle getting blamed for something that couldn’t have been his fault.”
Every pony were starting to feel sorry for the earth ponies who work in the castle. Phantom on the other hand starts to feel guilty as his little stunt caused a mess for some ponies’ lives.
“Damn I guess I should have thought that out.” He remember what he has to do now and he starts to slide away and gets up from a fair distance from the ledge. “I probably would have ruined that stallion’s life had I hit Jet Set. Damn… why does this have to be so complicated?” Phantom thought as he scanned once more and started running and jumping towards his home.
4 minutes later/
Phantom lands on his house, stopping to catch his breath, and started moving, breathing heavily, towards his make shift tent. He steps hear his hammock and moves underneath, removing his gloves, placing it next to him, he dusts off some soil revealing a latch. He pulled it and swung open a hidden small hidden room and in it a small wooden chest. He lifts the lid of the chest to reveal many colored gems and some clear gems all in different shapes and sizes.
“Better stock up on those flash crystals.” Phantom said as he grabs two small octagon shaped crystals, white but mixed with blue colors that continue to swirl around inside. He placed them into his pouch, and Phantom grabs a palm size sphere crystal that has a purple misty haze color and placed it in his pouch as well.
“Going to need an illusion crystal, and maybe a few blanks.” Grabbing a long quartz shaped clear crystal with a diamond shaped clear crystal as well once more into his pouch.
He then closes the lid and shuts the room and covers the latch and cracks up once more with soil. He grabs his gloves, standing up looks towards Canterlot and spots a large tower with a purple flag.
“Alright let’s get go-“Phantom stops and realizes that he may have rushed his landmarks. “Oh shit…” He spot’s several towers with purple flags waving in the air just mocking him to come to their location. Phantom shakes his head and just sighs “I really messed up on this. I better hurry and find the right tower, I can find the store when I find it.” Phantom puts his gloves back on and starts to run towards one of the purple towers hoping it’s his.
End of chapter 6.
