//------------------------------// // It's too cold! // Story: Doctor Whooves: The Changeling Invasion // by Draconaquest //------------------------------// "It's too cold!" Twilight exclaimed, wrapping up in her jacket, proceeding to walk forward, dragging her suitcase behind her. "Welcome to winter..." Sunset replied, bluntly, though she was shivering as well. "It never got this cold at Crystal Prep!" Twilight said, pushing up her glasses. Sunset cocked her head to the side. "I thought Crystal Prep was up north." "It is." Twilight said. "So, doesn't it get colder up there?" Sunset asked. "That's a stereotype!" Twilight snapped, "It's actually warmer there!" She was having to shout, as the blizzard was blowing harder. "Well, you wanted to transfer here!" Sunset shouted, using her hood to block the wind and the snow. "I didn't know that the day I moved here there'd be a blizzard!" Twilight said, whipping her glasses, which were fogging up in the cold. "Well, don't worry, we're almost there!" Sunset replied. The two girls pushed forwards, making their way to Sunset's house. When they got there, Sunset opened the door, let Twilight enter, and quickly shut the door, locking it. "Okay, it is cold." Sunset acknowledged. "T-t-told you so." Twilight said, who was still shivering. "Yes, you did." Sunset said, smiling. Twilight, still shivering, looked around. "W-w-wow. Y-y-you've got a r-r-really nice place." The furniture was all black leather and very tasteful, with dark red wood end tables and a black lacquered coffee table placed in front of the leather sofa, a comfortable-looking swivel rocker stationed at either end. A flat screen TV hung on one wall, wires trailing down into various electronics on a set of shelves beneath it. Across the room from it was a tall set of shelves full of books, knick-knacks, and awards. A desk with an all-in-one computer stood next to this, with a simple office chair and wastebasket stationed nearby. At the rear of the living room, separated by a bar with a faux granite top, was a small, well-appointed, spotlessly clean kitchen. To the left of the kitchen, a hallway led further into the house. "I just got it," Sunset said, pulling off her winter coat, "I fell into some money, and, bought this place, as well as all the decorations." "N-n-nice." Twilight stuttered. "You okay?" Sunset asked, walking towards her. "Y-y-yeah, just a l-l-little c-c-cold." Twilight said. "Here, you just sit down," Sunset said, guiding Twilight to the sofa, "I'll turn the temperature up, and make some hot chocolate, okay?" "Th-th-thanks." Twilight said, sitting down. Sunset walked over to the thermostat, turned up the temperature, and walked into the kitchen. "So, what classes do you plan to take at Canterlot High?" "Th-th-the same classes I took at Crystal Prep." Twilight said, starting to warm up. Sunset pulled out sugar, cocoa, salt, and a large bowl, pouring the ingredients into it, and mixing them with a whisk. "Which were?" "W-w-well, the basics, like math, science, etcetera, as well as my electives, such as some computer classes, as well as an extra chemistry class." Twilight said, now pulling off her winter coat. "Nice." Sunset replied, pulling out two mugs from the microwave, and adding two tablespoons of the cocoa mixture into each mug, mixing it together. "Well, I'll tell you one thing: the students at Canterlot High are a lot nicer and accepting than the students at Crystal Prep." "I know, you told me before." Twilight said, smiling slightly, as Sunset walked out of the kitchen carrying two mugs, handing on to Twilight, as she sat on the swiveling chair. "By the way, thank you for letting me stay here until I find a place of my own." She took a sip of her hot chocolate. "My pleasure," Sunset said, also taking a sip from her mug. Then she heard a knock at her door. Sunset looked up, with a confused look on her face. "Who could that be?" She asked, looking towards Twilight. "Carolers?" Twilight asked, as Sunset stood up, heading towards the door. "In this weather?" Sunset asked, peering through the peephole. Unfortunately, the snow was so blinding, she couldn't see who was there. She opened the door, and was taken by shock as who was standing there. A tall man, probably six feet tall, was standing there. He was wearing a balaclava with a fedora over it, and goggles protecting his eyes. He had a long, multi-colored scarf which was wrapped around his neck several times, concealing his mouth, along with his neck. He was wearing a long, brown trench coat, buttoned up, which concealed most of his body. The man pushed his way past Sunset, into the house, and spoke, which was muffled by the scarf. "I'm sorry, what did you say?" Sunset asked. The man put up his index finger, and proceeded to remove his hat, as well as his scarf, revealing his mouth. He moved his goggles, showing soft brown eyes, "I said," he said, his voice sounding familiar. He pulling off the balaclava, revealing his aftershave, spikey hair sticking up, as well as side-burns, "Merry Christmas." The Doctor grinned.
