Issue #1 - Some Assembly Required (Part 1)
Twilight Sparkle approached Princess Luna, saluting her. She'd just finished researching heroes and was finally ready to hear her mission.
"Agent Sparkle, your mission is to investigate some strange activity near San Franciscolt" Princess Luna informed her, "And I've decided to bring along some help"
Twilight Sparkle looked behind her as Captain America, along with a red-headed woman in a black leather suit and a blond man wearing a purple costume and carrying a bow and a set of trick arrows, like a boxing glove arrow and a gas canister arrow.
"I'd like to introduce Captain America, Black Widow, and Hawkeye" Princess Luna introduced the group to Twilight Sparkle.
"It's nice to meet you all, my name is Twilight Sparkle, pleasure to work with all of you" Twilight Sparkle introduced herself, holding out her hoof for a handshake.
"It truly is a pleasure to work with you, too" Captain America smiled, returning the handshake. Twilight Sparkle remembered from the tapes about Captain America, and remembered that he was a good man, though she didn't know anything about Black Widow or Hawkeye.
"Didn't you say a junior agent was coming too?" Hawkeye asked.
"She said that she'd run into a problem but should be here soon" Black Widow informed Hawkeye. Suddenly, the door opened as Barb, a purple and green baby dragoness with adorable green eyes, chubby little cheeks, and a cute smile ran into the control room, trying to catch her breath.
"Sorry I'm late guys!' Barb panted as looked at everyone.
"It's alright, Barb" Black Widow assured her.
"So what have you found so far?" Twilight Sparkled asked Princess Luna.
"What we've found so far are reports of bug creatures, which apparently look like a cross between a dragonfly and some other things..." Princess Luna informed the group, "Our guys here have been calling them Annihilates"
"Annihilates? Who called them that?" Hawkeye questioned, raising an eyebrow.
At the control panel, a pony S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent lowered his head as he stopped playing Galaga on his work computer.
"So, are the five of you ready?" Princess Luna asked.
"Yes" Twilight Sparkle answered as a S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent bused them to a Quinjet, as they flew off to the site.
"Cap, do you mind if I just call you that?" Barb asked Captain America.
"Sure, why not" Captain America smiled as he flew the Quinjet.
"So...what about you two? How long have you been working for S.H.I.E.L.D.?" Twilight Sparkle asked Black Widow and Hawkeye, trying to socialize with them.
"I've been with S.H.I.E.LD. for a little while..." Hawkeye reminisced, "Good times, good times..."
"I prefer not to talk about it..." Black Widow smiled weakly.
A few hours later, the five reached the site of strange activity. It had been quarantined from the public as to not cause the public to panic. Captain America looked around as he spotted a strange, grey solid puzzle-like piece.
"What's this thing?" Captain America inquired, moving the puzzle-like piece in his fingers.
"Maybe it's some kind of toy?" Hawkeye guessed.
"I don't think so..." Twilight Sparkle investigated the pieces.
"This feels so strange!" Barb squealed in excitement, "And kind of creepy too!"
Black Widow picked up two pieces of the puzzle-like object and put them together. She then picked up a third, fourth and fifth piece, and put them together, making some sort of square-like object.
"Guys, I think this forms some kind of three-dimensional square thing" Black Widow told the group. Captain America and Twilight Sparkle handed the pieces of the puzzle-like object they found.
"Wait! If we complete this thing, what kind of thing will happen?" Hawkeye warned the group.
"You're right!" Captain America agreed, noticing that one piece was missing.
"Maybe we should turn it over to S.H.I.E.L.D." Black Widow suggested as she handed the cube-like object to a S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent.
"Hey! I found the final piece!" the pony S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent cheered as he put the final piece in. As the final piece was put in, a ray of light was shot into the sky, as an Annihilate flew through the portal.
It was very similar to a dragon, but had longer legs, each tipped with a blade, a scorpion-like tail, and a whip-like forked tongue extruding from its mouth.
"That's not good..." Hakweye sighed as pulled out an arrow and shot it at the Annihilate, only pissing it off.
"Let's go!" Captain America commanded as he jumped onto a table and threw his shield at the Annihilate, hitting in the face. Twilight Sparkle blasted the Annihilate with a magical blast and Black Widow threw a grenade at the Annihilate. Unfortunately, the Annihilate was only scratched as it flew at the team.
"I got it!" Hawkeye exclaimed as he fired a shrapnel arrow into the Annihilates head, causing it roar in pain as he flew away, and then dive-bombed the team!
However, the sounds of a booming song sung by ACDC distracted the Annihilate long enough for a repulsor ray to blast it, knocking it over, as Iron-Man flew down to the group.
"It's about time I show up!" Iron-Man exclaimed, looking around, not noticing the Annihilate charging at him.
"Not so fast!" Twilight Sparkle yelled, blasting the Annihilate with magic, knocking it out right next to Iron-Man, which didn't even make him flinch.
"Well...now that's what I call a close encounter!" Iron-Man joked.
