//------------------------------// // A mask's revenge // Story: The Hero of Time in Equestria // by Mikoyose //------------------------------// (Well this is my first fic hopefully it's as good as some of the others here it's based after Majora's mask i've played the game and read the manga) (Edited to fix the text wall and a few errors.) Link had celebrated the festival of time after saving Termina from Majora’s mask; Kafei’s curse was lifted changing him back to his rightful age and height so he and Anju had an official wedding when the townspeople had returned. Link danced with Romani and eaten till he was ready to burst, the next morning though he had prepared to leave. He filled his wallet and gave the rest to Anju and Kafei, gathered his equipment to continue his journey for his friend and fairy Navi. He said farewell to the townspeople and Romani before leaving Termina and heading into the forest; where he rode with purpose. After riding for a few hours; Link dismounted Epona to let her graze as he pulled out Majora’s mask. Staring into its unblinking yellow gaze; it was tempting to put it on because of the magic it held and a rumor stating that whoever wore it would get any wish granted. But he had learned it comes with a cost, and he didn’t want to make that mistake like skull kid. He walked a few feet away from Epona and threw down Majora’s mask. Standing over it, he took out his gilded sword and impaled the mask; it suddenly started shaking causing the hole between its eyes grow larger and spider-web cracks begin to cover the mask as it continues its quaking. “YOU CHEATED! NOW I WILL END YOU!” it said before a flash of light engulfed Link and the mask. The sound of Majora’s mask shaking still sounding, scaring off Epona. Link screamed but was cut off as the light disappeared leaving only a shattered mask with the ground smoking around it. The mask's laugh was the last sound heard that night, the laugh echoing throughout the forest. Link awakes on a grassy clearing in a forest; he rose with a grunt of pain and exhaustion. He looks around seeing that everything seems more colorful than Hyrule. “Where in the name of Din am I?” he asked himself before reaching into his enchanted pouch that housed all his items. Feeling that it was empty, he looked around and saw them scattered around the clearing; his sword, still in its sheath, was laying on the ground in front of him. He bent over and picked it up, replacing it on his back and tightening the strap to make sure it doesn’t fall off again. He slowly walked around the clearing, picking up his items, the transforming masks and his shield first. After retrieving the items on the ground he checked his inventory, looking for any missing items. The only item he was missing was the ocarina. “Not again.” He sighed before taking out his bottles and looking at the contents in the eight bottles: two had red potion, one had a blue potion, four had milk from Romani ranch, and the last one had a fairy. He took the red potion, putting the others away, and uncorked it to drink the contents; sighing, a puff of red smoke escaped his mouth before he corked it and returned it to his pouch. He examined his surroundings. Noticing that every tree had bird houses hanging from them and off to his right-past a small river-was a cottage. He walked over to it, while admiring the bird houses, stopping a few yards from the bridge because he had seen his ocarina stuck between a thin branch and a limb, in a nearby tree. There were also birds a little off to the right of it; Link smiled to himself and pulled out his bow and a single arrow, using his archery skills he would cut that branch so he could retrieve his ocarina. He raised his bow, nocked the arrow and pulled the bowstring back to his ear, the sunlight reflecting off the arrow tip sending a shaft of light into the cottage. Fluttershy-meanwhile-was inside her cottage feeding her animals. She floated upwards to return the feed to a shelf, when a beam of light shined in her eyes. She raised her hoof to her eyes covering the beam as she flew towards the window; opening the window outwards to reveal a monster standing on its hind legs holding some strange object in its forelegs, which was reflecting the light. She would have just slammed the window shut and gone back inside, if she didn’t see this monster aiming at some birds and a large blue egg. She flew out the window with incredible speed, coming from panic that she wouldn’t make it; she stopped in front of the creature and stared into its shocked face as she floated in front of the ocarina with her hooves out to her sides protectively. “I won’t let you harm these birds.” She said in the most commanding voice she could muster. Link stared at this yellow mare with a light pink mane, he slowly released the tension on his bowstring when it blocked his shot, but he fell back when it talked. “You can talk!?” He said with awe. “You can talk!?” the yellow mare eeped her tone had disappeared and replaced with fear. They stared at each other for a while before Link broke the silence “Uh, h-hello my name’s Link what’s yours?” he said while standing and cautiously taking a few steps back in case the mare attacked. The mare slowly landed staring at his face and pointy ears, they were about the same height, she looked away and silently said. “I-I’m Fluttershy.” Link felt that she wasn’t going to attack him and put his bow down “What’s that thing?” she asked staring at the bow “This is a bow I was going to shoot that branch so I could get back the princess’s ocarina.” At this Fluttershy looked into Link’s eyes again with shock and asked. “How do you know the princess?” “Well Zelda was the one who gave me that to protect it and stop anyone from trying to take the triforce again.” Link answered “Who’s Zelda? Did Celestia change her name?” Fluttershy asked. “What? Who’s Celestia?” Link said looking back up at his ocarina; Fluttershy followed his gaze and flew up to it, gripping it in her mouth she brought it back down to Link who took it with a smile. “Thank you, Fluttershy was it? That’s a pretty name.” she blushed “Your welcome.” She replied in her soothing voice. Link admired his ocarina; bringing it to his lips he blew a few notes before playing a song (Epona's song). The notes echoed throughout the woods which brought animals to Fluttershy’s house listening to the music as they settled down, when he had finished he looked around noticing the animals. Fluttershy began clapping her hooves together “That was beautiful Link.” Link chuckled, scratching at an itch on the back of his head. “Thank you.” He said before his stomach growled making his face turn a tomato red color. Fluttershy smiled “I’m guessing that you’re hungry, let’s go into town to get something to eat.” She said and pointed with her hoof to the town and together they walked. -------------------------------------------------Ponyville------------------------------------------------------ Every pony kept staring at Link and his pointed ears but were calmed by the fact that he was with Fluttershy. He didn’t notice after a while when he saw a building made of candy, making him drool. He wiped the drool away as more ponies stared. He was about to take a bite of the building when Fluttershy opened the door and he saw that it was filled with ponies that immediately watched as he came in with Fluttershy. He looked around at every pony staring his way, he smiled before saying, “Hello my name’s Link.” At that every pony’s jaw dropped upon seeing this creature speak, silence filled the room. “Is that a new pony I hear?” a pink mare with a cotton candy style mane-just a shade darker- came bounding down the staircase and gasped at the sight of Link “Who’s that? Is he new? What’s his name? How old is he? Where’d he come from?” Link gaped at the pink mare speaking at a hundred miles an hour. “Uh… I’m Link hi.” he said, still surprised at this mare. “Oh hi Linky." she gasped again "Your new here so we need a party to welcome you here!” she said bouncing and rushing through a door behind the counter, Link looked at Fluttershy in confusion. “That was Pinkie pie she is very good at throwing parties.” She said. Link ignored her when he saw the counter and slowly walked up to it, seeing the pastries before ringing the service bell. “Coming.” A voice said from up the stairs. A few seconds later another mare came down the stairs, this one had blue fur and a pink ice cream style swirl for a mane "Hello Fluttershy and -" she stopped staring at Link as his mouth watered while he was looking at the ponies eating pastries around him. "Oh who's this?" the blue mare asked Fluttershy without taking her eyes off of him, Link turned around hearing the voice and smiled, wiping the drool away. "I'm Link nice to meet you." the blue mare returned his smile. "What a nice name, so Link what brings you to Equestria?" she asked his stomach growled in answer making his face flush.
