Night Confessions

Once again, Ponyville's sky is clear from the clouds, all thanks to a blue rainbow mare.
For Rainbow Dash, this was probably the hardest week in her life. Taking care of the skies, defeating monsters and creating storms, that wasn't an easy task, but she never said no. Loyalty, that's why.
Unfortunately, she had a few spare moments to sleep or in other occasions, reading. At the library with Twilight. In the beginning, Dash was nervous about Twilight's answer, but Twilight has a good friend, said "yes".

Rainbow Dash was that type of pony that wasn't connected with her feelings, or at least show to anypony.
After spending some with Twilight, she was feeling a little awkward more than usual. Occasionally, Dash got more shy close to her.
She even talked with Fluttershy about this.
For several times Dash denied having feelings for Twilight, she was just a friend, that's all.

After taking care of the last group of clouds near Ponyville, Dash decided to head towards the library. She still had a few questions in her mind, why does she still visits Twilight and why she feels more happy by her side?
Twilight's house had an open window, she knew Dash never used the door.

On the other hoof, Twilight was happy to have somepony to share her time with.
Instead of being nervous like her friend, she was rather impressed. Dash was known to be a strong pony. Sure she likes reading adventures books like Daring Do, but she couldn't say "no" to her best friend. At least, she could spend more time with Rainbow.
At the moment, Twilight was setting everything, by know she knew at the end of the day Rainbow would show up, it's a matter of seconds.

Just as she predicted, her friend flew through the window.
Rainbow also got used to the idea of not dashing fast enough almost causing a mess. Last time she did that, Dash had to clean the library.
Still, Twilight helped her.
"Nice to see you again Rainbow."- she greeted. "How was your day?"

Rainbow lay on the couch, resting her back.
"Hey Twi, you know me, always busy and doing a lot of stuff...boring stuff."

"What did you do today?"
Rainbow took a deep breath.
"Always the same thing, creating rain clouds, clean the sky and creating again the clouds...weather decisions."
Twilight smiled, seeing her friend annoyed was funny. For some strange reason.
On the other hoof, Rainbow was happy to spend more with her friend. Since Twilight and Rainbow shared something in common, they got more closer to each other. Twilight was helping her friend picking new types of books while Rainbow was helping her friend flying, Twilight still had a few issues with her wings.
"You must be hungry right?"- Twilight asked before entering the kitchen.

Rainbow sighed.
"You have no idea! I forgot to bring my lunch." Rainbow laid lazliy on the couch.
Twilight got back from the kitchen while levitating a plate with two sandwiches. Dash lifted, now she was sitting, finally after hours of hard work, she could take that moment to herself, along with her best friend.
"Next time come see me and I can make something for you."

"You sure? I don't want to bother you while you're reading."
The purple mare simply dismiss with a hoof.
"Nonsense, you're my very best friend, I'm glad to help!"- Twilight gave her trademark grin.
Rainbow grabbed the sandwich from the plate, that now rested on the table.
"Thanks Twi!" The blue mare smiled before taking the first bite.

A couple hours later, Twilight and Rainbow laid on the balcony while a candle provided the light.
Twilight looked up, taking a quick glance at the night sky.
"It's getting late Rainbow, you should go before it gets really late."
Rainbow's ear perked up when she heard her friend's voice.
"C-Can I ask something Twilight?"- her voice cracked.

The purle mare looked at Rainbow.
"Of course!" She could see Rainbow was nervous.

"Can I spend this night with y-you?"- Rainbow asked with a slight blush.
Twilight's heart skipped a beat. She intended to ask that question to Rainbow not the contrary.
"Yes!"- Twilight almost shouted. "I-I mean sure..."- she turned away from Rainbow's vision.

She jumped and gave Twilight a huge hug.
"Thank you so much!" They glanced at each other, their muzzles inches from touching.
The purple and blue cheeks turned into a deep red. Rainbow let her friend go, while they looked away.
"That just happen..."- though Rainbow.

"Calm down Twilight, calm down."- Twilight thought, taking deep and long breaths.

A few minutes of silence passed between the two of them.
"I need to tell you something!"- they said at the same time.

"No, you first."- said Twilight.

Rainbow giggled.
"Because I'm awesome?" Twilight rolled her eyes while shaking her head. "For real now, I always saw you as my best friend, I still remember the first time we met." The other mare listened carefully, analysing every words she pronounced. "We have things in common, like reading the same adventure or having wings."- she trailed off.

Twilight felt her face heating up and her heart beating slightly faster. She paid close attention to Rainbow as she continued.
By now she knew that Rainbow had some feelings about her, she also shared the same something.
She wanted to tell her, but not even the best books could help her. With more thinking, she asked Cadence for some help, of course hiding the fact that wasn't for her, but for a close friend.
"I love spending time with you, like right now."- she smiled. "What I'm trying to say is..." Rainbow's face was more red than a healthy apple.

"S-She..."- Twilight thought.
The energetic mare swallowed.
"I think I love you, there I said it."- Rainbow crossed her forelegs, hoping for the best. After a few seconds of silence, Rainbow return her gaze on Twilight. She hoped her friend didn't hate her. What happened next surprised her.
Twilight was pressing her lips against hers. She had her eyes closed, Rainbow blinked twice, the warmth of the kiss was overwhelming.
Slowly, she closed her eyes. Seconds, maybe minutes passed.
Finally they broke the kiss, staring at each other eyes.
"That was...."- Twilight trailed off, trying to explain the sensation.

"Awesome!"- Rainbow completed the phrase, with a smile.

Twilight got up, she picked up the books and walked inside, back to her bedroom. Rainbow followed her friend.
Rainbow yawned, she was next to her bed.
"You can sleep with me, if you want of course."- Twilight whispered with a soft voice.

The two laid in bed, facing each other. Rainbow placed a wing on top of Twilight, covering her while Twilight used her tail, that rested on Rainbow's cutie mark. They decide to sleep while hugging, which proved to be a good idea, the heat was so nice.
Their eyes got more heavy and their bodies started to relax even more, enjoying the company.
Before she could fall asleep, Twilight spoke.
"I love you featherbrain!"- with a smile. "Good night..."

"I love you too egghead!"- she hugged her even more. "Good ni..." And just like that, they were sleeping in a deep embrace.
A fantastic ending for a great day.
