Grogar's Sunshine

by Billy G Gruff

Visiting the princess

I will end the reign of ponies and bring about the destruction of Equestria. Do not misunderstand this as a vow of hatred or the ramblings of an aged evil goat; It is merely a statement of fact. I hold no real ill will for these creatures in the same way one has no real ill will towards an insect as they crush it under their hoof. That bug bore no real harm for us, but we take its life all the same simply because it is there. It crawled into our line of sight, offended us with their presence and we blighted them from existence without a second thought on the matter. Why are ponies any different?

I look upon one now with little interest as it is writhing in chains and lowering into a boiling potion of my own making. It begs and pleads, I think it a female judging from the voice, but I'm not particularly interested in finding out either way. They all look the same to my eyes. I will concede though that their magical properties are quite useful in the casting of my...particular brand of magic.

It writhes, flailing its hind legs and bringing its tail up as high as its anatomy would let it, vainly attempting to avoid its slowly impending doom as the chains ever inched it closer into the broiling elixir. I would speed up the process to let my ears rest from its incessant screaming, but the spell works better when the pony dies in terror and agony. Why settle for a sub par spell when a bit of auditory discomfort yields much better results?

I'm sure in this ponies eyes, I am the most evil thing it has ever seen. Its life is about to end, and the only thing it can see as death slowly approaches is my towering blue form sitting calmly, swirling a chalice and taking a sip of its contents. This particular brew was made one thousand years ago, and it has aged quite well, though it has a slightly bitter after taste to it. Fitting for such a year, as it was the one when Celestia thwarted the best laid plans of My former associates.

As the first real screams of agony came from the pony as its tender rump touched the brew, I wondered if my old apprentice Sombra would of enjoyed the show. He was always a sadistic fellow, shame that he was destroyed for good earlier this year. He was so much better than a common pony, a common bug. He was still a bug mind you, but at least one that could perform tricks and amuse me with his antics.

Its hind quarters were now consumed in the boiling fluid, if it had anything in its bowels it would of evacuated everything from the fear and pain it was in. It was almost fascinating the way it danced and writhed about, mesmerizing my red eyes as they followed the motions of of the thing that so desperately wanted to live. It had tried to bribe with its money and land or services in the beginning, now it's higher functions seemed to of turned off in favor of screaming its lungs out.

My voice rumbled from my throat, deep and guttural, and a bit raspy from lack of use as they formed an incantation that I no longer recall when I had memorized. thousands of years are not kind to ones memories when it comes to specifics like that. My twin horns alighted with a black aura and I could feel my eyes start to glow a bit more fiercely in the dark chamber. I had almost forgotten we were in a chamber, one tends to get lost in thought in times like this.

I closed my eyes, letting the spell take effect as my awareness of the room faded and drifted to that far of land of ponies, right towards the object of my interest. The Princess of the Sun, slumbering in her bed.

She sat bolt upright the second my presence entered her room, though she could not see me. in her eyes I saw a glimpse of that frightened filly she was not but a thousand years ago. Her face steeled as her horn alighted as golden as the sun she controlled. She was the only one of her kind I found interesting, above that of a means to an end.

I would enjoy ending her life the most when the time is right.

"Grogar" she breathed as she stared at me. To her I would seem a ghostly apparition, formed from the smoke of her dying charge. I let hints of its screams waft into her ears for the amusement of seeing her grind her teeth and get to her hooves.

"Your power is weakening Princess" I calmly whisper over the cries of her subject, in the same tone one would use with their child as sleep takes hold of them "Your ties to harmony are waning...your reign will end soon...just as I've always said"

"Leave my chambers vile creature" she growled

"I will be the one who kills you princess" I continued "Just as I've always said. You fought bravely against so many for so long, but in the end I will be the one to kill you"

"LEAVE!" her horn flared in rage, ripping the floor at my apparitions hooves. I calmly floated in the place the floor was

"You know this, why else would you make a new Alicorn to take your place... but the question is, can she hold her own like you have for this long? Or will she be the end of your pitiable race?"

"Twilight is more than capable of defeating you Grogar"

My mouth curls into a smile that makes Celestia's wings ruffle. A gruff chuckle escapes my throat and overpowers the squeals of the dying pony who was soon going to lose its life, ending our temporary connection.

"Perhaps, It would not be my first loss after all. You know as well as I though, that it was never you or your student who ended up defeating My comrades and me, it was that delightful little twig that rests inside your everfree forest. That tree is the only reason you have avoided my hoof this long, and it has seemed to of lost interest in you as of late. I hear it even gave your student a castle of her very own."

She said nothing, ears twitching as she heard the last gasps of that pony as death finally started taking it, tears beading in her eyes for it

adorable

"Well now little filly, this ponies life is about spent, let me sing you a lullaby to get you back to sleep. You must be up bright and early to raise the sun after all "

"SHUT UP!!" Even after all this time she still lost her cool with me

"You are my sunshine~ My only sunshine" I gored the pony in the side, making it cry out with new vigor. My eyes alighted with mirth at the Princesses pained expression seeing the half cooked thing in the smokey apparition now

"STOP!"

"you make me happy, when skies are gray" I rasped on, another stab dislodging the ponies heart as it pierced its chest through the chains, chopping his bonds and leaving him skewered on my horn

"You'll never know dear, How much I love you..." I drawled on calmly as ever

Her horn fired at my apparition again, blowing open her door behind me

"I will be there, to take your sunshine away~"

Her room faded from my senses, and I let the body of the pony plop into the cauldron

The one thing about bugs. We don't just kill them, we watch them writhe in agony, rip off their legs, see how much torment we can put on their insignificant little bodies before ending it all. There is no real hatred behind it, not really. They don't matter, therefore they must die, that is the only reasoning necessary.

I've been playing with this one for over a thousand years, its been amusing.

But the time to finally squash her and her sun is upon me, and I relish the thought of finally ending her life.
If only... because I can.
