A Brief Intro
Hello, my name is Twilight Sparkle, and this is a story of a new flora. I went into the Everfree Forest in order to find new species of plants and animals. However, what I found was both interesting and terrifying. The flora was of a violet color, had a bulbous head, and was connected to quite a few trees in the north end of the forest.
This serves as an account of my experiences after coming into contact with the flora I have labeled the Terror Flora.
Discovery
It was a normal July day, the sun was out, and the weather was a nice seventy-five degrees. I had my bags backed and ready to go, today I would be exploring the Everfree Forest, and I needed equipment to aid me. I brought; a compass, snacks, Magnifying glasses of many sizes, a map, and a notebook to draw and write in.
My mission was to explore the Forest for any signs of new Flora or Fauna, to document those that I find, and to publish a book of my findings. This was my chance to make a name of myself in the scientific community. So, I told spike to go help Rarity for the day, and was on my way.
As I made my way into the forest, the sky became darker, and the air became thicker. This was normal for the forest, So I lit my horn up to light the way, and continued on. There was fog everywhere, the sounds of monsters could be heard from the distance, and the path to the inside of the forest had disappeared. For those who scare easy this was certainly the wrong place to be in. However, I have been through the forest many times, and was no longer frightened of it.
I made my way through a clearing with plenty of strange looking trees. I brought out my note book, looked around, and decided this was a good place to start. I first documented a tree that had a yellow look to it, orange leaves connected to it's branches, and a weird polka dot pattern in it's roots. This was truly strange.
The next tree had a captivating flower on it. A bulbous head, purple in color, and a captivating green stem attached to it. I lowered my head in to give it a smell. The head opened slowly, it released a nice smelling mist, and I was captivated by it. This was going to be great to document and draw in my notebook. However my ears began to slowly ring, It was a small ring, but noticeable. I stopped what I was doing and waited for the ringing to stop. I had no luck and the ringing in my ear continued.
I grabbed my notebook, trying to write this down, but the ringing got louder. I stopped and listened, the ringing slowly increased in pitch. This must be the side affect of the mist I breathed in, I thought to myself. I concentrated to teleport out of the forest, but by then the ringing became too intense to think, and I couldn't concentrate on anything but that ear shattering noise. The pitch got higher and higher, until I couldn't stand it anymore, and I screamed to let out my pain. Suddenly, I blacked out.
The Effects of The Mist
I came too, the ringing was gone, but I still felt weird. All the things I entered the forest with were gone. There was no light to be seen throughout the forest, so I tried to make light from my horn, and was surprised to find I couldn't use any magic. No wonder I felt weird. Now I was defenseless in a forest of evil. I shock my head trying to think of what to do, when I heard the sound of a filly crying. It was soft but distinguishable. I needed to help whoever it was crying so I ran in the direction.
I couldn't see much, I tripped over myself quite a few times, and only had the sound of tears to follow. I tried to keep calm, whatever was crying was probably alright, and I could take it with me out of the forest. Finally I reached an open clearing with 2 silhouettes near the other end of it. One was the size of a full grown stallion and the other was of a young age.
The large figure seemed to make a swipe at the small one, the small one fell to the ground, and a loud scream rang through the woods. I ran towards the large figure to attack it, the filly was hurt, possibly dead. Once I came in pouncing distance I saw it's face. It was Sombra, and he had a large grin on his face. His beady red eyes forced me to a stop. He laughed at me, and said, "You're too late." He disappeared, and left me with the corpse on the ground.
I looked at the mutilated body. He was Apple Blooms age, had nice blond hair, and had blood coming from a scratch in his head. All I could think was, "I was too late." I grabbed the corpse and held it in my arm, sobbing, and realizing my mistake. If I had been quicker, If I had at least attacked Sombra, I could of saved this boy.
I sat their for a minute holding the corpse, when it moved. Then his eye's opened, he had red pupils, and he was smiling now. He laughed slowly, staring into my soul, and judging me. He spoke in a deep yet calming voice, "It's okay Twilight, you can't win them all. I am dead and you are alive. No one can be perfect, but you can sure try. Soon we will be meeting again Twilight, after all no one can escape death." The body slowly disintegrated in my arms, one last laugh let out before disappearing.
I got up slowly. I felt numb, this was all so horrible, and my heart felt like it would break. I wondered on in the direction that I thought was north. I hoped I would find an exit to the forest, so I could rest, and see my friends again. I had no such luck. I kept walking, thinking of my friends as I went on. I wished I could be with them, the thought of even conversing with Rainbow seemed inviting, and then I heard the voice. "Ok princess, your wish has been granted"
The voice sounded exactly like Discord. What would he be doing here? Last I had heard was that he was helping Fluttershy today. So, I was shocked by that, but then I saw my friends up ahead. They looked a bit different then usual, maybe that was because I was far away from them. I ran to them to meet them, however once I got near, I noticed what was wrong with them. They fur was not the usual technicolor sort, it was grey, and looked just like when discord had caused them to become mean.
They all saw me, their faces in a disapproving frown, and their manes flat grey. I waved to them hoping I was wrong and hoping I would get a wave back. What I got was a verbal assault.
"Twilight, you were never loved by me. I used you as a stepping stone for fame, you damn fool." Rainbow Dash said with a very smug grin. She flew over and slapped me in the face before walking away.
"Twilight, you made fun of the real shy me, and now you are upset when I am actually confident. You are just a hypocrite." Fluttershy said, with a chilling tone, before she came over and pushed me. She walked off into the forest in the direction Rainbow flew in.
I slowly got up crying, their words stung, and they felt true. "I spent all the times telling you my feelings, hoping you would listen to the truth, but it is so much easier to lie. Now I can actually be loved unlike you." Applejack sad, kicking dirt in my face, and running off.
"You actually liked to put up with me, you should of put me in my place, but you didn't. I spent years being funny and I absolutely hated it. This is all your fault Twilight." She brought out the book I gave her for her last birthday and burned it in front of my eyes. She chuckled and trotted off.
" You were the bane of all of our existences. We used you to get what we wanted, you are pathetic, and a fool at that. You never saved the day, you always needed us, and you just let a filly die. You are worthless and not worth my money. Good riddance." She throw a single bit on the ground and walked off.
Now I was alone. All they said was true, I was worthless, I was a fool, and I was a failure. This felt like a nightmare I couldn't wake up from. I didn't move, I just laid there and cried, and waited to be eaten by some animal. My tears splashed the ground and I waited.
Slowly from all sides of the brush my past enemies appeared. Night Mare moon was to my right, Discord to my left, Sombra in front of me, and Tirek behind me. They had the look of wild animal on there faces, there eyes gleamed with evil, and they were ready to attack. I didn't fight, I didn't try to run away, I just gave up. I had no reason to live.
Discord swiped his claw across my face causing blood to flow from the large scratch, Nightmare moon and the rest laughed and waited there turns. I was ready for another onslaught when out of nowhere AJ jumped out of the bush. She kicked Discord in his face, he screamed, and dissipated into a dark red smoke.
Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy flew from inside a near tree and tackled Nightmare moon into the ground. She let out an unsettling laugh before dissipating into smoke. Rarity teleported right in front of me and shot Sombra in the back of the head with a bright blue spell. Pinkie jumped in front of the raging Tirek, opened a portal to another dimension, and cast him off into it.
Pinkie gave a triumphant stance, looked at me as if addressing a whole audience, and said, " You may break a wall, but I break walls 2 through 4" I couldn't believe what had just happened so quickly, why did they save me, and how?
Rainbow Dash came over to me, looked me in my defeated eyes, and said " Sometimes you can't save the world by yourself, even the fastest needs help. We will always be here to help you no matter what. However, you have learned this lesson so many times in the past three years, I am starting to wonder if I am beating a dead horse."
We laughed together, I was crying tears of joy, and ready to go home. Suddenly as this all began, it started to end. The world around me began to collapse, I screamed, until I finally lost consciousness.
The Conclusion
I woke up at the edge of the Everfree. I had my pack on and my magic did work. Which leads me to the question, what happened in that damn forest? I believe it was a hallucination, cause by the smoke coming from that flower, or was it something else. All I really know is this I faced all of my fears from the past one more time, what ever happened it is finally over, but I have one more duty.
If you the reader ever go out in to the forest, just remember what old Princess Twilight told you, and don't go looking for bad flowers. If you run are not careful or strong enough you might just run into The Horror Flora.
