A Ghostly Adviser

The Adviser

"I can't believe it!" Rainbow said to herself, crying some more. "Pinkie, Fluttershy, Applejack, Rarity, Twilight.... I may have lost them all!"

Rainbow Dash then heard a strange noise... kind of like the sound that is made when Twilight teleports into a room. But much more mysterious. "It's probably just my mind..." Rainbow said to herself, suddenly feeling like she was being watched. "I suppose I miss my friends so much that..."

"I assure you that this is not your conscience," Rainbow heard from behind. Her ears perked up as she turned around to find a unicorn mare standing in her bedroom. The mare had a violet coat and a mane a darker shade of violet. Her cutie mark was a pink star with little pink marks around the star, looking like it was supposed to represent magic. The unicorn also had eyes the color of a jade. But something was off about this mare. She was... transparent. When Rainbow looked at her, she saw the other side of her room. The unicorn spoke again.

"I am Violet Jade, a mentor sent from Princess Celestia. I help with friendship problems, and to my understanding, you have been going through a tough problem," she greeted, her voice flowing like a river. Rainbow had quite a bit of questions to ask.

"I'm Rainbow Dash. And first of all, why are you kind of... transparent?" She asked the strange mare.

"Well, I am because..." Violet took a deep breath, expecting the worst from the cyan Pegasus. "I'm a ghost pony..." she finished as Rainbow's eyes widened.

"WHAT?! I thought ghost ponies were sent to another dimension years ago by Star Swirl the Bearded!" She responded, backing away from Violet.

"You know about the history of ghost ponies?" Violet asked, a little shocked.

"Yeah. Why?"

"Nopony ever knows the history of my race! And from my observations, you don't seem like the type to like history at all!"

"YOU WATCH ME?!"

"Well, I turn invisible and soar around Equestria-" she looked and saw Rainbow's look of confusion. "Yes, all ghost ponies can fly," she informed as Rainbow looked a little intrigued.

"Okay. And one of my best friends, Twilight, wanted me to learn about the history..." Rainbow's ears then fell flat as she remembered the argument from earlier. "Well, she used to be one of my best friends..." she said in a sad tone.

"Really? I will try my best to help you, Rainbow Dash," Violet answered with a hint of sadness in her voice. Rainbow then got a curious look on her face.

"I would actually like to learn a little bit more about your history from you! Twilight just told me they were banished, since I was tuning out a little bit..." Rainbow suggested as Violet smiled.

"Alright. A long time ago, there was a land that ghost ponies inhabited. There were Pegasi, unicorns, and earth ghosts that inhabited the land. All three could fly, but Pegasi could fly faster than the other two, unicorns could learn spells, and earth ghosts were stronger than the others. The ghost ponies also had more ability than ponies here in Equestria. They could fly faster, use more magic, and were stronger. Ghost ponies never did get along with the other races, though. When a ghost pony got their cutie mark, it was traditional for the parents to teach them how to haunt, since they were thought to be old enough. Haunting is what they did best; what their parents taught them their purpose was. Ghost ponies visited Equestria more than any other place, scaring ponies who seemed like easy targets."

"Wow. Ghost ponies really were always out to scare others!" Rainbow commented as Violet nodded her head.

"Yes, they were. I never wanted to, though. I was much more interested in magic; while all the other fillies my age studied skills of haunting before they got their cutie marks. My parents kept wanting me to learn a little more about haunting others, but I never did what they asked. I never really wanted to scare anypony. I wanted to help the society with magic. I will never forget the one day I was learning the invisibility spell. That was when my whole life changed. A pony with a cape, hat, and beard came into our land. He was automatically identified as an Equestrian pony. All of the ghost ponies darted outside and saw his horn light up. Suddenly, he zapped one and threw it in another dimension. The ghost ponies all started fighting the pony, who was famously known as Star Swirl the Bearded. He cast a spell on all of us, making sure he could track us down if we escaped. He could only throw one pony in the dimension at a time. I decided there was only one thing to do. Run away. I teleported into Equestria and used all of the energy I had to break the tracking spell he placed on me. I then stayed hidden for days, scared to come out. I turned myself invisible, and found someway to survive without my family or my friends. Years later, I stumbled upon Princess Celestia. I asked her for help, and told her I never had any intention of scaring anypony. She informed me that Star Swirl attacked the ghosts because the ponies in Equestria were never left alone, and some had heart attacks because they were scared so much. The Sun Princess then took me under her wing. She suggested that I help ponies across Equestria with friendship struggles. And that is why I am here now," Violet recalled as Rainbow looked very intrigued.

"Hold on. You're over one thousand years old?!" Rainbow questioned as Violet chuckled.

"Well, ghost ponies age differently than normal ponies. In pony years, I am around your age," Violet informed.

"Did nopony else know as much magic as you?"

"No. I was the only one who really poured myself into learning it."

"I still can't believe your race was there just to scare others!"

"Yeah, I never understood it either. I was like the misfit of the group; the only one that didn't think haunting is what we should live for."

"Yeah."

"Now, I want to help you with your problem. It seems like you and your friends had... a little argument."

"More like a huge argument! I wouldn't be surprised if they never talk to me again!" Rainbow wailed as she fell back onto her bed.

"Rainbow, I assure you that they still care about you. Everypony makes mistakes.

"Well, they sure don't act like they care."

"They do. If anypony has the strongest friendship bond, it's you six. I know they will never leave you."

"I suppose you're right. But... I messed up things that were important to each of them."

"Rainbow, every friendship contains at least a few misunderstandings, and some are larger than others. But you have to learn to look past your mistakes and think about your friendship. Will you let them leave you?"

"No."

"Good. Do you enjoy being best friends with them?"

"Of course! Without them, I don't know what I would be doing with my life!"

"Then I suggest that we both go up to them. You six can sort it out, and I can provide help if needed. Trust me. I've been doing this for a long time," Violet suggested as Rainbow nodded her head.

"That isn't a bad idea at all. Let's go!" Rainbow said walking towards the door as Violet stepped over to the window.

"Do you want to fly over there?" Violet asked.

"Of course!" Rainbow responded as the two took off, searching for five best friends.
