It's a Whole New World We Live In

Welcome to Johto

Sunset walked through the halls of Canterlot High humming slightly to herself, a smile on her face. On her back she held her backpack, filled to the brim with all the various knickknacks and doodads that had accumulated in her locker over the course of the past school year. And what an intense year it was, initiating her plan for revenge, getting turned into a demon, being redeemed, making friends and saving the school from a band of evil sirens who had been banished here by one of the greatest magical minds of all time.

A week ago, before the end of the current school year, one of Sunsets dearest friends, Twilight Sparkle, had offered to allow her to stay in her castle in her home universe of Equestria. Sunset had eagerly accepted the offer, and had been sure to inform all of her human friends that she would be gone for the majority of the break, intending to spend as much time as possible in her old home before returning for the next school year.

As she walked, Sunset couldn't help but smile thinking of how much her life had improved over the year. And perhaps, had she not been so busy reminiscing, she wouldn't have tripped over the uneven sidewalk near the statue portal.

"Whoa!" Sunset exclaimed, without thinking she reached out for the nearest thing to steady herself. It just so happened that the nearest thing, or rather person, happened to be Adagio Dazzle, leader of the Dazzling's and the most recent villain to try and manipulate the school.

"Hey watch it!" Adagio yelped as she was pulled along with Sunset in her forward momentum, having lacked any time to brace herself and prevent herself from being dragged along by the falling teens momentum.

Sunsets eyes widened in recognition of the sound of her enemies voice. "Oh no." She managed to whisper in shock just before her head entered the portal, her body and the banished villain quickly following. Almost immediately Sunset knew something was wrong with the portal. Where before the experience had been relatively quick trip through a rainbow tunnel of light was taking much longer than she remembered from her previous trips through, and there seemed to be more colors than she remembered. Another thing she noticed was a sort of sense of being pushed and pulled, as though she was being passed around like a ball, needless to say it was not a pleasant experience. Behind her Adagio was either screaming in terror or outrage, it was hard to tell over her own screams.

And then, for the briefest of moments, Sunset could swear that a gigantic creature of grey and gold flashed by for the briefest of moments, and then she felt herself being tossed through the air. With a thud Sunset roughly landed on a patch of grass, the plant life cushioning her rather rough landing. A soft thump next to her announces the arrival of her unexpected and unwanted companion.

"Oh my god." Sunset barely managed to hear Adagio whisper. The sound of horror in the sirens voice prompted the look over, whatever had installed that much fear in the normally cocky siren could not be good. Sunset turned her head over to where she had heard Adagio, and nearly screamed at what she saw.

It was unlike anything she had ever seen. An enormous serpentine body, seemingly composed of boulders with two large glaring eye's towered above the two. A mouth, large enough to swallow either one of them whole, was open in a snarl. Jagged stone teeth the size of daggers filled the beasts maw. The beast huge head hung over the terrified teens for a long second, staring down at them, maw agape.

And then it screeched. A horrible, bone shacking sound that filled the air and shook the ground. Birds fled the trees, leaves were pushed back, and the two aliens to this world screamed in fear.

Sunset and Adagio scrambled to get to their feet, struggling as they were still disoriented by the monsters screech. Soon enough, however, they managed to get to their feet and began to flee for their lives, only to be knocked back down as the monster slammed its huge stone head into the ground where they had stood not a moment before.

Sunset managed to get onto her feet quicker this time, and was almost into a group of trees before she realized that Adagio was not running with her. Turning back, the redeemed unicorn couldn't help but groan. "You've got to be kidding me." A large rock had been knocked into the air when the monster, who was currently shacking its head in a sort of daze, and had pinned the Dazzling by her hair.

As much as she wanted to leave the siren to her fate, she just couldn't bring herself to do something cold hearted, not after being redeemed by her friends. So with a sigh she ran over towards Adagio.

"Help me get this off of me before that thing charges again!" Adagio screamed in panic, desperately trying to shove the large chunk of stone off her hair from her awkward position.

With a shove, Sunset managed to budge the rock over a little, "What do you think I'm trying to do?" With a grunt Sunset finally managed to get the rock off of Adagio's head, only to be shoved by the siren as thanks. "Hey! What was . . ." The words died in her mouth as the monsters tail split the earth where Adagio had previously been pinned.

Gulping, Sunset turned and ran off after Adagio, who was just making it to the forest Sunset had been trying to get to a moment earlier. The rumbling of the ground was all the clue Sunset needed to let her know that the monster was hot on her tail. With a burst of speed Sunset managed to quickly catch up with Adagio.

"We need to find someplace to hide!" Sunset shouted, dodging past a branch.

Adagio leaped over a fallen log, only to trip over a large stone as the beast let out an earth shaking screech again. Taking a look around, the siren spotted a building off in the distance. "Over there!" She exclaims, "There's a house or something, maybe we can get some help!"

Sunset glanced over at the siren, "You really think they can help us with a giant rock monster?"

The monster let out another screech, knocking over several tree's in it's mad attempt to catch the fleeing duo. Adagio grimaced, "If you have a better idea, I'm open to suggestions."

A giant stone flew past the two, pulverizing a tree nearby and showering the two in splinters. "Strange building it is." The two took off towards the building, doing there best to avoid the blasting rocks and stay ahead of the beast behind them. As they got nearer to the building a small fence sprung up from seemingly nowhere, nearly tripping the two. However, the two managed to make it over quickly, not even slowing down for a second. After all, what good was a fence against a monster that could launch boulders from seemingly no where and level trees by crashing into them?

So intent where they on reaching the rapidly approaching building, they failed to notice that the giant beast of stone had stopped short at the fence, letting out a roar of rage before turning away in anger. They didn't stop running until they reached the door to the building and began to urgently knock on it upon finding it locked.

The door began to open, but the fearful girls just forced there way into the building, hurriedly slamming the door behind them. The two took a moment to breath, not hearing the grinding of stone on stone or feeling the earth quake at the creatures movement. The two looked at each other, not knowing if they should laugh in hysteria or begin to tear into each other like the foes they were. They didn't get a chance to figure it out as a hand gripping each of there shoulders grabbed their attention.

"So," A tall lanky man in a lab coat with brown hair and glasses began evenly, a mixture of humor and annoyance on his face. "Which one of you wants to tell me why you have just barged into my lab after making such a ruckus banging on the back door?"
