//------------------------------// // -I- The Palace // Story: I Never got to Say Goodbye // by Jazz //------------------------------// When I was born, my mother had rented the luxury room in the hospital up in Canterlot. My mom, my dad, my grandmother, two doctors and a nurse, and I. I was hungry when I came out, and given delicious warm, soothing milk. It was something I enjoyed when I was small. My mother peered at me and said: "Well, I'd like it if she were a colt, so he could take heir to the throne, but he is not a he, but yet a she." "Be thankful dear. We can try again. In the meantime, she can be our little princess. Literally. Now, what is given must be taken," my father, King Saal said to my mother, Queen Kryistal. I looked over to my grandmother. My grandmother lifted me up. She held me close and tightly. I felt safe in her hooves. I sneezed adorably and gave my wings a flutter- yes, something I forgot to mention. I come was born by alicorns, making me also an alicorn. Only my mother, father and I were alicorns, not my pegasus grandmother. "Well, what would you like to name this beautiful child, High King and High Queen?" the nurse asked. My mother looked at me. She stared at me for a while. "She shall be Princess Autumn," she finally said soothingly. Finally, she wasn't complaining about me, or anything. She always complained, but I guess it wasn't that bad. Anyways, in about half an hour, my mother, my father, and I all got back to the luxurious castle. It was brilliant. The walls were as high as towers, and the first room was the throne room. Two large throne stood side by side. The one to the left was golden with a red satin pillow for cush. The one to the right was silver, and had a purple pillow. A guard stood by and ordered a butler to bring out a third throne: A sapphire throne with a pink cushion. Mine. "For the two young ladies and the King. Please, do sit," the butler said to us. We sat down, my mother putting me in my chair. It was so uncomfortable. Enough to make a baby cry, which I wouldn't do anymore- I've cried too much already, and dealt with worse pain. Mother scowled at me and growled. "Alfur! Get me a lemonade. Hurry, now! Hurry!" "Yes ma'am," he said in reply. As Alfur left the room, Mother slammed the door soft pink glow, just like her cold, piercing eyes. She peered them towards Alfur as he returned. Her eyes pierced him like ice daggers in his chest. He was an earth pony, so he carried the lemonade tray on his back, but still sweat. "Your two minutes late, Alfur..." she said coolly, yet an evil, menacing grin stuck to her face. "Yes, so sorry Madam Queen Kryistal. Do forgive me, for I have been unfa-" Alfur began. "Save it, Scrunge!" she said. Now, she threw him against the wall in a pink flash with her horn. "Dear, perhaps we could... I dunno, spare him? We're running out of butlers here..." King Saal (I was never allowed to call him 'Dad' or 'Pa' to him, but I could call him father, or King Saal) said to my mother. "If we absolutely just must," my mother huffed with a sigh. My father put a wing around her has they waltzed to their thrones, setting me up in my throne. I began to cry as I was set in an uncomftorable throne. "DO BE A DEAR AND SHUT UP!" Father yelled at me. I shut up at once. My grandmother flew in (she was just a pegasus as well) and nuzzled me. She looked so young, as she was. My mother was merely twenty as my grandmother was forty. I was tiny! Yay, tinyness... I squealed with joy and delight as I was nuzzling my grandmother. I felt a connection. "Ahh-chu..." I sneezed softly as I closed my eyes gently in her hooves. She flew me to my room. "Mother, where goeth thee?" Mother asked softly as she ate a biscuit from a bowl next to her throne and sipped lemonade slowly. "Oh, Kryistal, I'll take Autumn to her room, she's tired. Now, you relax yourselves. I'll be back in a moment," Grandmother said to everypony in the room. She flew me gently to my room and tucked me into my pink crib. My coral coat blended in with the covers and my orange mane fell to the pillow. "Fall asleep, my little filly. Princess Luna grants thee the sweetest of dreams," she sang softly to me.
