//------------------------------// // Chapter 6 // Story: The Breach // by Mondays Dawn //------------------------------// Chapter 6: -_Ship at sea, day 4 of trip_- _-Night Form-_ Midnight sighed, it had been 4 days out of the promised 9 it would take to reach Manehatten, and he was already bored, he then decided to talk to himself about something he had been wondering, "Hey" \What is it?/ "I was just wondering, how come we both are called Midnight, I'm our night mode, so it makes sense for me, but for you…" \Yeah, I see what you mean, I was thinking we could change mine to 'Midday Joy,' what do you think?/ "I see, you chose a name which is polar opposite mine," \Exactly/ Midnight then heard a voice from the crow's nest "LAND HO!" Midnight sighed, it had been several days, and they had barely made it to the first stopping point: Amarezon, one of the few 'free' towns, which were a part of no country. Often they were lawless and laced with crime. "I hope we don't stop here too long." \Same here Midnight/ As the town came into view, the stallion in the crow's nest shouted "GET DOWN! WE'RE UNDER ATTACK!" The shout reached Midnights ears as a large explosion erupted from the water just off the side of the boat. Midnight, noticing he had only an hour left in control at best, quickly asked one crewman how long they could live with their current supplies, the stallion said "we would make it halfway, if we are lucky." "Not a problem," Midnight said, his horn beginning to glow, the entire ship then disappeared as the sun rose. -_Ship, day 5_- _-Day Form-_ When Midday Joy, as he was now called, awoke, he noticed that they were able to see no land. He quickly got up and asked the nearest crew member "What happened? The last thing I remember, we were under attack, where are we?" The crew member, seemingly in shock said "You, or at least your black form, teleported us to a point that is, according to the captain, 3 quarters to the next stop, we were lucky." Midday stood there, shocked at what happened. Midnight had saved a whole passenger ship full of ponies from not only a town of lowlifes who were trying to sink their ship, but now they wouldn't die before reaching their next stop: Hoovesgorod, where the ship would pick up the rest of its supplies, and then head up a river to Equestria. Midday then realized something: he couldn't see fire storm anywhere, he went downstairs, and saw her, puking her guts out out the window, muttering "Make it stop, dear sweet Celestia make it stop," before more of the sound wrenched at Midday's stomach, causing him to slowly try to get away from where she was, as he had no plan of getting puked on today. He then made his way to the sleeping room, where tons of ponies seemed to be packed in, he slept in a small space between a Pegasus who smelt terrible and had an obvious eating problem, and an earth pony, who honestly wasn't that bad to sit near by his opinion. -_The Echo_- Midday's visits to the Echo have been occurring every day, and finally understood why it was called "The Echo." It was because everything that was seen told of what was to come, and when it did happen, it was like an echo of what the person saw. That then lead to people calling it the Echo, and it became cannon. This visit was a little different, he was seeing himself from the outside, splitting in two, the one of him he saw was in obvious pain, and was desperately trying to move away from the point where he was splitting in two. Suddenly, the entire world he saw in the echo disappear, the normal "its nearly sundown, time to get up" signal. -_Ship Day 5, sunset_- Midday Joy awoke an hour before sunset, as was normal, he looked around, and saw that almost everypony had left the sleeping room. The hallway was also empty, except for Fire Storm, laying on the ground, still writhing in pain on the ground from vomiting so much, muttering "Dear sweet Celestia please make it stop." Seeming to be crying as she spoke. Midday walked up the stairs to the deck above, to find nopony there either, things were starting to look suspicious. He thought to himself how could an entire boatload of ponies just disappear? There isn't even a crew… oh no, no crew means… Midday suddenly ran to the stern of the ship, and saw that there was nopony at the wheel, shockingly, it was as still as it would be if it were in a tough sea-pony's iron grip (sea pony in the sense of sea-man, not in sense of merman). This utterly confused Midday, as the ship was still moving along the correct path, and the only thing missing was EVERYPONY WHO WAS ON THE SHIP. Weapons to defend the ship, food, supplies, all still there. The sun sank below the horizon, and Midday transformed. _-Night Form-_ When Midnight awoke, Midday immediately told him about everything that he that had happened. Midnight, suddenly remembering Fire Storm, ran down, to see her still vomiting, and crying from the pain of it. He then cast a temporary spell to make her stop getting seasick. After a few minutes, Fire Storm stood up, and brushed herself off, followed by her saying "Hello Midnight, how are you?" "Well, I myself am good, but we may have a bit of a problem," Midnight said. Fire Storm got a surprised look on her face at this "Really? What is it?" she asked. Midnight then proceeded to tell Fire Storm everything he was told by Midday Joy. By the time he finished, Fire Storm seemed extremely worried, and began to pace back and forth, muttering "how is this possible? How are we the only ones left? I could have sworn that several ponies passed by me right before you showed up and helped me with my seasickness, but now that I think about it, it was probably you passing by me and walking around up there…" "oh, I almost forgot," Midnight said, "The ship still seems to be on coarse, so we will make it to equestria, all the food and weapons, enough for a whole ship is still here, we will survive, easily." "I hope so," whispered Fire Storm, shaking her head, "I hope so." CLIFFHANGER! Wow, I planned this totally different, with Midnight fighting at the port of Amarezon to protect the crew of the ship… oh, and I wasn't origionally planning on killing off a shipload of ponies. Oh well, it turned out rather well, and please remember to vote on whether or not I switch to first person view for the rest of this story.
