La Vie En Rose

Epilouge

Pinkie placed the stickers around the last photo in her scrapbook. She smiled at the photo which showed her, Cheese, and all of the fillies and colts from Paris. They were all covered with icing from their cake fight. She placed it right next to the picture of Madame Honey Bee and Cosmo posing with her and Cheese.

The day after their homecoming, they had a second anniversary party, just as they had promised. Everypony was invited. Of course, the security was ever present, but this time, everything went as planned. It was the most fun that she had had in a while.

“Hey, Pinkie!”

Said mare looked up and smiled. “Hey, Scarlet!”

“That was on humdinger of a party, I’ll tell you what,” Scarlet said, her wings buzzing with excitement. “Well, me and Silhouette best be getting back now. We talked with Cheese already, and we just wanted to say goodbye to you too.”

Just then Silhouette flew into the bakery, flying in circles above their heads. “I’ve never been happier to have my wings back!” she sighed happily.

“I told you all my nursing would pay off,” Scarlett said smugly.

Pinkie stretched her forelegs wrapped both cousins in a bone-crushing hug. “Bye, you guys. I hope you visit again soon!”

“Y-You know we will, P-Pinkie,” Silhouette grunted.

As Pinkie released them, Mrs. Cake poked her head inside of the living room. “Pinkie, dear, there’s some news reporters outside, do you want me to tell them you’re busy?”

“No need, Mrs. Cake!” Pinkie chirped, making her way to the door. “I’ll deal with them. Most of the photographers are leaving anyway.”
The party mare and her two friends exited the bakery, where a few news crews sat in wait.

Cheese Sandwich appeared beside her, smiling sheepishly. “I tried to get them to leave, but they insisted on us answering some questions.”

“Cheese! Pinkie!” A pony with a microphone stepped forward, holding his microphone out to them. Other ponies did the same. Cameras flashed. “How does it feel to be back in Ponyville?” the first pony asked.

“It feels great!” Pinkie answered cheerfully. “Everypony’s been so great and supportive the whole way through—it goes to show how wonderful the citizens of Ponyville really are.”

“What charges are the Sinister Sixty facing, and how does it feel knowing that you helped put your kidnappers away?” another pony asked.
Cheese thought for a moment. “Let’s just say, they’re facing a lot …and…good, I guess?”

“How did you summon up the courage to escape the way that you two did, knowing that a whole organization of thieves were right behind you the whole way?”

“We had to try,” Pinkie said simply.

Cheese nodded. “A lot worse would’ve happened if we had stayed.”

“So… what’s next for you two?” A reporter raised an eyebrow with a sly look on his face. “Are you romantically involved at all?”

Pinkie and Cheese looked at each other in surprise. They both looked back at the waiting reporters and chorused, “No comment!”

Mr. Cake started to push the reporters back. “Alright, alright, that’s quite enough, move along!”

“See ya, guys!” Scarlet called as she and Silhouette took off into the air.

“Bye, girls!” Cheese shouted. After everyone was gone, he and Pinkie walked together along the open rode. Pinkie sighed in content. “I’ve missed this place so much. You’ve got everything?”

Cheese was clad in his trademark poncho and his fedora. Boneless two sat slouched on his back. “Everything but the kitchen sink.”

Pinkie nodded slowly. “I wish you would stay longer. But I know your job is important to you.” She looked up at him sadly. “I’ll miss you most of all.”

Cheese smiled softly and nuzzled her affectionately. “I’ll miss you too, Pinkie Pie. Please don’t be sad. Sure, my Cheesy sense will always call me…” He glanced back at his own cutie mark. “But it could never stop me from coming back. And…” He looked around at the town, adjusting his hat. “Who knows? I might make a home here someday.”

They passed by a small café with a radio sitting at the window. A sweet tune filled the evening air.

Quand il me prend dans ses bras
Il me parle dans ses bras
Je vois la vie en rose…

“I know that song,” Pinkie said. “La Vie En Rose, right?”

Cheese gave her a shy smile. “Maybe that’ll be…our song,”

Pinkie grinned. “Yeah…maybe it is.”

Il me dit des mots d’amour
Dets mots de tous les jours
Et ca me fait quelque chose

The two stopped at the exit of Ponyville as the sun started to set in the west.

Aunt Blueberry stood there smiling at them, waiting patiently.

“Now that me and Aunt Blueberry are together again, we're going to have a reunion with some relatives. We’ll have to do this again sometime,” Cheese suggested. “I mean, not the whole getting kidnapped thing, but…we should throw more parties in other countries.”

“That would be SUPER!” Pinkie gushed. “You just wait and see. Our paths are gonna cross again pretty soon.

“You think so?”

“You silly goose. I know so.”

Il est entre dans mon coeur
Une part de Bonheur
Dont je connais la cause

Pinkie stared into Cheese’s green eyes. With a gulp, she leaned forward and kissed him. Cheese immediately returned the kiss as the sun dipped behind the distant mountains. Pinkie giggled in the back of her throat.

Cheese snorted and pulled back. “What?”

“Wee.”

The stallion laughed.

“See ya later, Cheesy.”

“See ya later, Pinks.” He booped her on the nose and gave her one last hug. Pinkie’s friends crowded around her as Cheese joined his Aunt and started to head home.

Twilight wrapped a wing around her. “It really is good to have you back with us, Pinkie,” she whispered softly.

“It’s great to be back, girls!” Pinkie replied, wiping a happy tear from her eye. The six shared a group hug.

C’est lui pour moi, moi pour lui, dans la vie
Il me l’a dit, l’a jure, pour la vie
Et des que je l’apercois
Alors je sens en moi
Mon coeur qui bat

Rainbow Dash’s ears perked up. “‘La Vie En Rose’? What does that mean anyway?”

Pinkie grinned as she watched the two happy figures disappear down the road. “Life In Pink.”
