Chapter 1
Love is in the air
Sunset stood outside of the newly constructed door of the school, it had been a week since the she-demon event. At least Fluttershy and the rest of them helped me out with the wall, I feel bad about them helping me though. Sunset started to walk up the stairs she heard a noise, it sounded like a mutter. Is that Fluttershy? Sunset thought as she looked around the corner to see Fluttershy there. “Sunset Shimmer!” Fluttershy yelled quietly.
“Fluttershy?” Sunset whispered back confused.
“Shhh, not so loud,” Fluttershy whispered placing her finger on her mouth.
“What are you doi… woah!” Sunset exclaimed as she was pulled into a bush. “What the heck Fluttershy?” She added annoyed at her friends roughness.
“Sorry, I just needed to talk to you,” Fluttershy said twirling a finger in her hair nervously.
“About what?” Sunset asked confused and slightly concerned.
“Has Pinkie Pie,” Fluttershy trailed off in a series of squeaks and mumbles.
“What was that?” Sunset asked cupping a hand to her ear. Fluttershy mumbled more intelligible words to Sunset. “One more time,” Sunset stated with a reassuring smile. Fluttershy takes a deep breath and grabbed her arm nervously.
“Has Pinkie Pie talked about me at all?” Fluttershy said as quickly as possible.
“Sure lot’s wh…” Sunset started but then realized what her friend was talking about. “Do you have a crush on Pinkie Pie?” Sunset asked pointing a finger towards Fluttershy. She replied with a simple nod. “Have you told her? No of course not, you wouldn’t have asked me that question then,” Sunset said to herself more than Fluttershy. “You should tell her how you feel,” Sunset added putting a hand on Fluttershy’s shoulder. Fluttershy looked at the hand with uncertainty and Sunset thought she had just done something wrong, Oh no, I did something wrong didn’t I, pull your hand away! But then Fluttershy simply smiled at her which put Sunset at ease.
“Easy for you to say, you have more courage than I do, you went up and kissed Twilight without a second thought.” Fluttershy stated with a laugh. Sunset thought back to that night a week ago where she kissed Twilight. It made her happy to think of it, but also sad now that she was gone.
Fluttershy noticed this and started to panic, “Umm… Don’t cry I didn’t mean to upset you, I’ll leave if you want me to?” Fluttershy stated quickly and got up to leave. Sunset quickly grabbed Fluttershy’s arm and brought her back down into a hug and started to cry into her shoulder.
“I miss her Fluttershy, it’s going to be thirty moons before I can see her again, that’s two and a half years. I don’t want to wait that long to see her again. I want to be able to walk to school with her, hold hands as we walk through the corridors to class… To kiss under the starlight like at the fair formal except this time she would never have to leave.” Sunset sobbed letting it all out as Fluttershy sat there awkwardly with Sunset holding her in a vice grip crying her eyes out.
Fluttershy embraced her and started stroking her hair soothingly, “There, there,” Fluttershy said awkwardly as she tried to comfort the girl who a week before had been trying to kill her and her friends. Fluttershy thought this isn’t the same girl who tried to kill us, she’s become so much more in the past week… You would be proud of her Twilight. That’s when it struck Fluttershy, “I think she would be proud of you if she could see you now, to be able to have these emotions that you could just open up to with someone. Just think how much you will change for the better, and when she gets back here next, she’ll still love you for you.” Fluttershy stated with a reassuring smile.
“You think so?” Sunset asked looking up at Fluttershy.
“Yes I do,” Fluttershy replied standing up and helping Sunset up aswell.
“Thanks, Fluttershy.” Sunset stated wiping her eyes with her hand.
“Anytim…” Fluttershy started but then Sunset grabbed her hand and started pulling her towards the school. “Where are we going?” Fluttershy asked confused.
“I can’t have what I want, so I might as well help you get what you want.” Sunset said with determination in her voice.
“What do you mean?” Fluttershy asked nervously.
“You’ll see,” Sunset stated with a smile plastered on her face. They entered the gym to find it empty besides a bored Pinkie Pie with her hair straightened out, sitting next to the bleachers messing around with a deflated balloon. “Hey Pinkie!” Sunset yelled waving her hand at her classmate. Realization dawned on Fluttershy’s face and she tried to squirm free of Sunsets grip, but it was too tight on her wrist for her to wiggle free.
“Hey guys!” Pinkie yelled excitedly and her hair perked up into it’s usual look as she stood up and ran towards them. “Did you guys come here for my morning party?” She exclaimed excitedly and brought a cannon out of nowhere that fired confetti out of it, she then started giggling like a maniac while messing around with the confetti.
“Actually Fluttershy has something she wants to say to you,” Sunset stated pushing Fluttershy towards Pinkie Pie. Fluttershy tried her best
to keep her feet grounded but her feet only succeeded in making a mark on the floor. Pinkie Pie of course didn’t notice any of this however and still had her signature smile plastered on her face.
“So what did you want to say?” Pinkie said standing really close to Fluttershy.
“Well…” Fluttershy mumbled the rest of the words. Sunset decided to help a bit and elbowed Fluttershy in the back. “I-I-I…” Fluttershy tried to say and looked away nervously, “I like you,” Fluttershy said quietly.
“Oh, Fluttershy I like you too silly,” Pinkie stated maintaining her smile still. Sunset perked up at this, it worked! “We’re friends right!” Pinkie added. Sunsets mouth dropped, Crap it didn’t work. Fluttershy’s shoulders and head drooped down.
“I didn’t mean it like that,” Fluttershy said in a defeated tone. Fluttershy thought to herself, she didn’t get what I meant, wait that’s it! Just as Sunset was about to try and get Fluttershy out of their before the waterworks started Fluttershy perked up again this time with a determined look on her face. To Sunsets surprise Fluttershy grabbed Pinkies hands in her own and held them up between the both of them. “This is what I meant,” Fluttershy said and kissed Pinkie Pie on the lips. Sunset almost fainted right there from surprise and shock at what Fluttershy had just done.
I didn’t know that she had it in her, Sunset saw however that Pinkie wasn’t resisting the kiss either, she was getting into it actually. When the two finally parted Sunset looked between the two of them and saw that they weren’t breaking eye contact.
“Do you get it now?” Fluttershy asked.
“Of course I do silly, so do you want to go out sometime?” Pinkie asked running her hand through her hair nervously. Was Pinkie… Nervous? This is unheard of.
“Well only if you want to,” Fluttershy replied grabbing her arm with her hand.
“I totally do,” Pinkie replied taking fluttershy’s hand in her own again. Sunset stood there awkwardly, Have they forgotten that I’m here?
“Uh… guys?” Sunset stated trying to get her friends attention. Fluttershy looked over to Sunset.
“Thanks for all your help, Sunset I couldn’t have done this without you. You truly are a good friend,” Fluttershy said with a bright smile.
“But if you don’t mind I’d like to spend some time with Pinkie alone before class.” Fluttershy added trying not to sound rude.
“Oh, of course, I’ll just go and see what everyone else is up to,” Sunset replied and started moving towards the door.
“Thanks, Sunset,” Fluttershy said as Sunset left the gym.
“So do you want to see the party cannon?” Pinkie Pie yelled excitedly.
“Sure, that sounds like fun,” Fluttershy replied in her signature quiet voice.
Sunset looked out one of the windows in the hallway towards the sky. I hope that when you get here Twilight, I can show you that kind of love. One week down, one hundred and twenty-nine to go. Sunset sighed and went off to find the rest of her friends.
Twilight stared out one of the many windows of the crystal castle and sighed. I can’t get her out of my head, no matter what I do I can’t focus on anything but Sunset Shimmer. Twilight stomped over to her bed and started to headbut her pillow "Thank you, what kind of a response is thank you? Your so stupid, Twilight... And now I'm talking to myself great," she then heard a knock on the door. Twilight groaned in frustration, “Who is it?” she yelled angrily.
“It’s Cadence,” the voice said through the door. Twilight quickly got out of the bed and unlocked the door with her magic. Princess Cadence and Shining Armor walked through the door into Twilights chambers. The room was quiet for a minute or so, neither knowing what to say. “So what, we’re not going to do the dance?” Cadence said finally trying to break the silence, Twilight simply shook her head. “But you love to do the dance…” She added with a smile… Twilight simply stood there and shook her head again. “It’ll make you feel better,” She tried again, Twilight finally sighed and gave in with a quiet ok. They started the dance, “Sunshine, sunshine, ladybugs awake, clap your hooves and do a little shake!” They said at the same time and Twilight for the first time in a week started to laugh.
“Ok fine it worked,” Twilight said and wiped a tear from her eye from the laughter. “It’s just, (Sigh) I miss her so much,” She added resuming her sad tone.
“Hey don’t be like that, Twilie,” Shining armor said and put his hoof around her shoulder.
“That’s easy for you to say, you have your happily ever after, I have to wait thirty moons for mine, I wish I brought her with me,” Twilight replied her head drooping down.
“My happily ever after didn’t come so easily either, Twilie.” Shining armor stated looking out the window.
“What are you talking about, you guys are married and you have eachother,” Twilight said looking at Shining armor in confusion.
“It wasn’t always like that. It took me around forty moons to actually ask Cadence out on a date, and I don’t even want to talk about our first kiss. At least you had a great first kiss,” he replied with a laugh.
“He kind of slipped and tumbled down a hill and rolled into me and somehow he managed to kiss me in the process,” Cadence stated walking over to join them.
“Don’t tell her how it happened,” Shining Armor said putting a hoof to his forehead.
“I thought it was cute,” Cadence said with a laugh.
“How is that embarrassing? it’s actually quite impressive if you think about it,” Twilight replied.
“What I’m trying to say, Twilie is that you know that she likes you, and you’ll never truly be alone when carry a piece of her wherever you go, no matter where you are she’ll always be with you... Just like Cadence is always with me,” Shining armor replied looking to Cadence.
“But how do I know that she really does like me back?” Twilight asked.
“What does your heart tell you?” Cadence asked putting a hoof to Twilight's heart. Twilight looked out the window again towards the sunset.
“Yes she does,” Twilight replied with certainty.
“Then that’s all you need,” Cadence replied with a bright smile.
“Thanks, guys I don’t think I could have done this without you two,” Twilight said with tears in her eyes.
“Twilie…” Shining Armor started to say.
“These aren’t tears of sadness, they’re tears of joy,” Twilight replied and placed her hoof on the glass pane. I’ll see you again someday. Cadence and Shining armor started to hug Twilight close.
“Now will you get out of this room and go talk to you friends?” Cadence asked.
“Of course I will,” Twilight replied with a smile on her face.
