My Journey

Chapter 6: A Shadow In The Dark

I watched as the large shadow slowly crept up on the city of Canterlot. Ponies were running for their lives as the shadow got closer and closer to its destination. I watched on as smoke began to come from the city as the shadow now entered it. Leaving nothing but destruction in its path. Then with one long deep breathe, I ran.

~2 weeks earlier~

I entered my home, the tears still pouring out my eyes. I laid down on the couch crying myself to sleep as everything went through my mind at once. I hurt so many ponies, why? why did I do it? Of course I knew the answer to that question but it still flooded my mind as sorrow filled my heart. I just wanted peace could I not have that much? I was tired of hurting others for my own hurt self. I was tired... to tired.

When I awoke I noticed the large stain on the carpet below me which I knew of course had to come from my tears. with a sniff I got up quickly, to quickly as my head started to spin. When my light head started to fade I was able to get my direction in order and headed towards the kitchen to splash some cold water on my face.

I had began to make breakfast when I noticed an alarming sight before me. I was almost out of food. "Shit" I said to myself as I grabbed some sausage and cheese out of the fridge. I started the stove and began to cook the delicious meal. I didn't have much left, only enough for about a week maybe less. Once I was done with the food I sat down and ate on the dining table as I thought about what I would do for food. Then a thought struck me as a smile grew on my food stuffed face.

I pulled out the fishing equipment from the closet and began to re-string the fishing rod. I always used to love to fish, it made me feel free for some reason that I did not know nor knew now. Once I was done setting up the fishing rod I went back to the closet and brought out the tackle box. There was a boat load of dust on the box, yes I loved to fish but back on my world but I had to much work to do at the time so the fishing gear slowly got dustier and dustier.

I set out on my journey to find a river. Surly this world had fish on it right? I asked myself but shook the thought out of my head and convinced myself that they had to have fish. I walked for hours on end with nothing in sight but woods. "This isn't getting me anywhere." I said and decided After a little while longer I would head back. I had walked for another fifteen minutes and that was enough for me, but before I turned and teleported home I noticed a glimpse of light reflecting off of something in the distance. Out of curiosity I walked towards the reflection. As I neared the object I noticed that it was a sheet of stainless steel however it was what the sheet of metal was in that interested me. The metal was in a small stream. It was to small to fish in but might lead to something bigger. I made it up in my mind to follow the stream tomorrow when I had gotten some sleep and some more food in me. I was pretty hungry then as to be expected when you walk for hours on end. Then with one quick thought through my mind, I teleported home.

When I awoke I did not wake well... I didn't wake well at all. I felt something, something strange. Whatever that something was it was making my heart heavy. It hurt me. I looked around everywhere but I found nothing. But I felt something, I knew something was here. I stood up to get a better look at my surroundings but I still did not notice anything out of the ordinary. I used my power to turn the lights on but even with the lights it did not ease my heart. I was growing frantic now, fear slowly but surly started to cover my body. I shook my head as I tried to regain my senses. After awhile of taking deep breathes and trying to ease my mind and fast beating heart I noticed that it was... gone, my heavy heart and fear gone just like that. I opened the door and entered the kitchen, a small smile touched my face at what greeted me. There was nothing, just pure peace, what I had been searching for, for so long.

I made myself some breakfast and got ready to head out the door to the stream that I saw yesterday. I picked up the fishing gear and headed out the door. I remembered where I was before so there was no need to walk, I could just teleport and that is what I did. After a moment of time I appeared by the stream and began my walk towards what would hopefully be a river or lake where there might be some fish to catch, but only time would tell.

I walked for what seemed like hours and probably was but I did not care for any of that when what I found brought hope to me. What I saw in front of me appeared to be a very large creek or a small river that the small stream joined. A large smile covered my face as I cast my rod in with the rubber worm on the hook. While fishing I noticed that the area I was in was not quite as wooded as where my home was. There was a clearing ahead of me that I decided to check out once I was done with this cast.

I reeled in my lure with nothing on the end of it where the hooks were. I was a bit sad at that but it did not stop me from pressing on towards the clearing ahead of me. I entered the clearing and found it to be something amazing. There were so many beautiful things in it. Flowers of all kinds, birds of many colors flying with the wind. I sat down amazed by the fantastic sight that was before me. Never before have I ever seen something so beautiful, something so majestic as this. The clearing itself wasn't that large, perhaps three acres at the max but that was not the point. The trees around the clearing had mixes of different colored leaves, some had red leaves while other had green, blue, white, and yellow. Each bore a fruit of some kind. However I did not take the venture to eat their fruit because of the fact that they could poison me. I just sat there, smile on my face and a happy heart, finally a joyful sight that I could admire and love.

I stayed in that clearing for to long, I wasted my time gazing at the beautiful sight and it was now getting dark. Surprisingly enough, the clearing actually got more fantastic as the sun began to set. But I knew I could not linger so with that I teleported home with that smile still plastered on my face as I began the same routine of making dinner then going to either play my guitar till I got tired enough to go to sleep or, as the case was now I was already tired and decided to hit the hay.
