The day was here, Luna and James stood outside Professor Brich's lab both were ready to hit the road. Birch and James's mom was also there.
"You must remember to take good care of yourself James."
"Yes mom."
"Remember to change underwear every day."
James put his head in both hands and goran Luna just smiled at that, Birch could not hold his laughter.
"Can we just go? I would like to get to Oldale Town before dark."
And with that they said goodbye to them and they were on their way. Just outside the city Luna stopped and looked at the city, she was very nervous. She was going on a journey to an unknown world with a boy she did not know. James could see that she was unsure.
"You okay?
"I do not know, I'm starting to wonder if this was a good idea. I know nothing about this world."
That's why I'm here, to help you. But can we hurry I would like to get to Oldale before it gets too late."
They went ahead on the trail but suddenly a Poochyena jumped out of some bushes, it stopped right in front of Luna.
"You're the Poochyena who found me are not you?"
"Huff, huff."
Poochyena took an attacking position, Luna became a little nervous of what Poochyene did but James knew what it wanted.
"Poochyena want's to battle you."
"Battle me? You mean he wants me to catch him? I can try."
She took out her Pokedex.
Poochyena the bite Pokémon. At first sight, Poochyena takes a bite at anything that moves. This Pokémon chases after prey until the victim becomes exhausted. However, it may turn tail if the prey strikes back.
She put it away and took out Treecko's Poké Ball, then she began shaking. What happing? Why i'm shaking? James saw what happened to her.
"Luna, take it easy. Take a deep breath and relax, if you are nervous then Treecko will notice it too."
Luna did as he said and took a deep breath then she threw the ball and out came Treecko. And Poochyena attack immediately whit tackle. Treecko slid back a little, Luna was concerned.
"Treecko are you ok?" Treecko nodded his head. "Good, answer with quick attack." Treecko started to ran very fast and he hit Poochyena right in the side. Poochyena rolled on the ground a bit but came up quickly, then he kicked up sand from the ground that hit Treecko in the eyes. Now was Luna concerned.
"What was that?"
"That was sand attack it throw sand in the eyes of opponent."
Again Poochyena tackle Treecko again and this time he landed some distance away on the stomach and he had problems to stand up. "Come on Treecko, you can do it." Of those words Treecko managed to get up, but he was tired. 'Treecko is tired but I refuse to lose, but what can I do?' She thought about it. 'I got it.'
"Treecko use quick attack." Again he took running speed toward Poochyena, Poochyena responded with another sand attack. 'I knew it.' "Treecko jump up in the air." He did just that and the attack missed, Poochyena was surprised by this. "Now use pound." Treecko rotate in the air and hit Poochyena with it's tail so hard that he past out.
"Hurry, throw a Poké Ball on Poochyena."
She took out a empty Poké Ball and threw it at Poochyena, the ball hit Poochyena and he disappeared into the ball. The ball wiggled around for a while before it stopped with a small click. Luna just looked at the ball, she did not understand what just happened. She came out of it when James poked her shoulder.
"Are you ok Luna?"
"Did I just catch Poochyena?" James just smiled.
"You did." She walked over to the ball and picked it up. She could not believe she did it.
"Is he ok?"
"We can heal him and Treecko in the next town."
She just nodded, she return Treecko to his Poké Ball and they continued to walt towards Oldalde Town. When they finally arrived so was Luna a bit intimidated by all the people but they just smiled at her and she smiled back. They stopped in front of a white building was white and had red roof.
"This is the Pokémon center, her you can heal your Pokémon buy stuff and sleep at night." James explained. But before they could entered a girl came out and bumped into Luna. She wore a black jacket and her hair was a mixture of red and yellow.
"Hey, watch where you are going."
"What do you mean? You bumped into me."
"Yes sure, wait a minute. Are you Luna?"
"Umm, yes." The girl smiled at this.
"Professor Brich said that a girl named Luna had started on her journey with a Treecko, you could have taken a better choice than that. I chose Torchic. Now if you excuse me i'm gonig to challenge the gym in Rustboro City."
She wakt past James and Luna and further out of town, Luna could swear that she has seen the girl before but where?
"James, do you know who that girl was?"
"No. I 've never seen her before, come on let's go inside."
Inside the Pokémon center there was so much new for Luna that she could not believe what she saw. People playing with Pokémon, even a shop. They went further in and arrived at a woman with pink hair.
"Hello, Nurse Joy." She looked up from her papers.
"Hello, James. It's been a long time."
"Around 6 months since last time. I need two rooms for the day and Luna here need to heal her Pokémon."
Nurse Joy looked at Luna with a smile.
"Is she your girlfriend?" James blushed slightly.
"NO."
"I'm just messing with you James. Chansey, can you come out here."
Out in the lobby came a Pokémon Luna had not seen yet. She opened the Pokedex.
Chansey the Egg Pokémon and the evolved form of Happiny. It is said to deliver happiness. Being compassionate, it share it's eggs with injured people.
"Chansey her will take your Pokémon."
Luna gave Chansey her Poké Ball's, then Chansey disappeared to heal Luna's Pokémon.
"I do get them back?"
"Do not worry, they will not steal your Pokémon." James told her. "Come on, I need to buy a few things." They went to the part of Pokémon center that had a shop.
"So Luna, have you decided what to do on this journey?"
"I thought try to challenges the Pokémon league."
"Ok, for that you need a badge cases for your bagde's. I must also by more stuff."
The next 30 minutes they bought more Poké Ball's, potion and some Oran berries. Suddenly they heard a sound.
"Luna can you come to front desk to retrieve your Pokémon."
That was Nurse Joy who spoke over the speakers. They went to the front desk and there stood Nurse Joy with Luna's Pokémon.
"Here are your Pokémon Luna."
She took the Poké Ball's. "Thank you."
"Now that you've got them back, I want to show you something."
She followed James out of the Pokémon center and they went further out of town to a pond.
"Ok, there is more that one way to catch Pokémon. You can also fish for them all you need is a fishing rod."
He explained what she had to do, then he took out his own fishing rod and show her. It was not long before he got a bite. Up from the water came a fish.
"Lovely, a Magikarp."
"Are not you glad you got one?
"Yes, but check your Pokedex then you understand why I am not so happy."
She did just that.
Magikarp the Fish Pokémon. Magikarp is a pathetic excuse for a Pokémon that is only capable of flopping and splashing. This behavior prompted scientists to undertake research into it.
"This is not so kind to say about a Pokémon."
"They're right, I caught one once and it was not easy to train but the evolved form is very good."
He lifted Magikarp up and threw it back into the water. "Now it's your turn." He gave Luna the fishing rod, she threw the hook out and it was not long before she got lucky. Up from the water came what looked like a blue mouse.
"A Matill, good catch Luna."
She checked the Pokedex again
Marill the Aquamouse Pokémon and the evolved form of Azurill. When fishing for food at the edge of a fast-running stream, Marill wraps its tail around the trunk of a tree. This Pokémon's tail is flexible and configured to stretch.
"Try to catch it."
She put away the Pokedex. 'Ok, it is both water and fary type.' She took out Treecko's Poké Ball and threw it. And out come Treecko.
"Are you ready Treecko."
"Treecko."
"Good, start with quick attack."
Treecko started to run very fast but Marill dodge the attack, Marill used water gun luckily it did not do much damage.
"Use another quick attack."
This time he hit and it did a lot of damage but Marill was not finished because he used tackle. "Dodge it Treecko." But he did not make it in time and he tok the damage.
"Use pound."
Treecko turns around and hit Marill with his tail and Marill past ut, Luna hurried and took out an empty Poké Ball and threw at Marill. Marill disappeared into the ball and was caught.
"Well done Luna you caught Marill. You can let out so I can give it a oran berrie."
She did just that and Marill was a little confused when it came out. James gave Treecko and Marill one berrie each.
"Marill." Marill looked up at Luna and smiled.
"I think Marill likes you." James explained.
"That was fast."
"Many Pokémon accepts trainer right away but not all, someone you must earn their trust. What do you say we get us something to eat?"
She just nodded her head, they went back to town. After they had eaten they went to the park.
"James, what are we doing here?"
"I thought you could challenge someone to a battle, If you're going to take on the Pokémon league then you need experience."
But before she could do that a boy approached her, he was about 12 years and had a blue cap. "Hey lady, do you want a battle?" She looked at James, he just smiled.
"Okay."
The boy smiled. "Cool. My name is Jack."
"Luna."
"How many Pokémon do you have?"
"Three."
"I only have two Is it okay with you that we use two?"
"Fine with me."
Luna and Jack stood a few meters apart from each other, James stood in the middle.
"This is a 2 on 2 battle, the match is over when both Pokémon of one the opponent can not fight any longer. Is this ok?" Both nodded thers head. "Alright, beggin."
"Go Zigzagoon."
'What is that?' She took out her Pokedex.
Zigzagoon the Tiny Racoon Pokémon. Zigzagoon restlessly wanders everywhere at all times. This Pokémon does so because it is very curious. It becomes interested in anything that it happens to see.
"Lets go Poochyena."
"Zigagoon used tackle."
"Dogde it Poochyena." Poochyena moved out of the way.
"Use tackle too." Poochyena hit Zigagoon and now had problem getting up.
"Get up Zigagoon, use headbutt." He got up and heabuttet Poochyena. "Finish it with a another headbutt."
"Quickly Poochyena use sand attack." Poochyena kicked up sand that hit Zigagoon in the eyes. "Use tackle and make it count." He hit Zigagoon and he fainted.
"Zigagoon is unable to battle, Poochyena is the winner." James told them.
Jack sent out his second Pokémon. "Go Taillow."
Luna used her Pokedex.
Taillow the TinySwallow Pokémon. Taillow courageously stands its ground against foes, however strong they may be. This gutsy Pokémon will remain defiant even after a loss. On the other hand, it cries loudly if it becomes hungry.
"Taillow use quick attack."
"Dogde it." But Poochyena could not get away. He was knocked out.
"Poochyena is unable to battle, Taillow is the winner."
Luna called Poochyna back in the Poké Ball. "Thanks Poochyena, take a good rest. Go Marill, use water gun." But before Marill could do it.
"Taillow use double team." Suddenly there were many of them.
"What 's happening?"
"Now use peck." The real Taillow hit Marill with flurry of pecks.
"You ok Marill?" Marill nodded. "Use water gun."
"Just forget it. Taillow use double team."
Again there many Taillow's again. 'I refuse to lose my first battle, but what can I do? She look at Marill. 'I got it.'
"Marill take it easy, you have to listen for the real Taillow." Marill closed her eyes and listen.
"Taillow use peck." Marill opened her eyes.
"Quick Marill use water gun." Water came out of Marill's mouth and hit Taillow. Taillow hit the ground. "Now use tackle." Marill hit Taillow and he past out.
"Taillow unable to battle, that means Luna is the winner." Jack walked over to Luna.
"Thanks for the battle Luna, next time I'm going to win." Luna smiled, then Jack left.
Luna collapsed on the ground, James sat down beside her.
"How was your first Pokémon battle?"
"I done many things in my life but this is the most exciting."
"You will always remember your first battle."
"Did you win your first battle?"
"No, I lost." She look at him.
"I was so sure that I would win that I lost my focus completely, but you did not. Let's go back to the Pokémon center so your Pokémon can get heal them."
Later in the evening.
Luna lay in her bed and looked up at the ceiling, she could not get the day out of her head. She had caught two new Pokémon and won her first Pokémon battle. One thing is certain she is not regret this journey, eventually she fell asleep.
