Chapter 18: Raiden's realization

"Ugh, I'm not finding any clues!" Raiden exclaimed, as he read over the books he barrowed from the school library.

"Well, what clues are you trying to find?" Bolt asked.

"Well, clues as to what the primary weakness for sirens are, but all I'm finding is information on their pendants, and how they're the source of the siren's powers," Raiden replied.

"Why don't you take a break? You've been looming over those books ever since we got here," Mr. Discord said.

"Yeah, I think you're right," Raiden said, as he closed the book he was reading, and set it with the other books.

"So, what are you trying to find out about the sirens?" Josh asked.

"Well, when I looked into their eyes, they seemed, soulless," the thunder titan replied.

"Soulless?" Silver asked.

"Yeah, I'm trying to find out why their eyes look like that,"

"Well, why not have some soup? It may clear your mind," Mr. Discord suggested, handing Raiden a bowl of tomato basil soup.

"Right, thanks," Raiden said, as he and the other dug into the soup, "Ooh, this is herby," he commented.

"Yeah, an old family recipe," Mr. Discord replied, taking a bite out of his soup.

"So, Mr. Discord, what's Eris like?" Toby asked.

"Well, she's as chaotic as I. She plays the saxophone in the school band. She's also like Rarity, always participating in drama. She also toys around with puppets, mostly for the enjoyment of kids around your age," Mr. Discord replied.

Raiden thought long and hard about a key word that Mr. Discord said, 'Puppet'. He repeated the word over and over in his mind, when it finally donned on him, "Of course!" he exclaimed. This made everyone jump, "Oops, sorry," he said awkwardly.

"I don't get it. What's it?" Echo asked.

"One of the major factors that Mr. Discord said when he described Eris! Puppets!" Raiden replied, which made everyone look at him confusedly, "Don't you see? The girls that Twilight and friends are trying to beat aren't really the sirens!" he explained.

"Then, who or what are the sirens?" Brain asked.

"The puppet masters. Somehow, the souls of the sirens were laying dormant in those pendants, so it only stands to reason that destroying the pendants will release the girls!" Raiden replied.

"But if the spirits of the sirens are controlling those girls, then how did they take them over?" Conner asked.

"My guess would be that when they put those pendants on, the siren spirits were released, and they possessed them," Raiden replied with a shrug.

"If that's the case, then we got to go tell mom," Cory said, as he got up, before Mr. Discord placed a hand on his shoulder.

"That's all well and good, but the girls might've gone to sleep already," Mr. Discord said, pointing at a grandfather clock. The time showed nine thirty.

"Alright, if that's the case, then we'll have to tell them tomorrow," Raiden said, as he and the others finished the last of their soup.

"Alright boys, let me show you to your rooms," Mr. Discord said, leading the boys upstairs, where a hall of doors stood.

"Wow, you weren't kidding when you said your house was big," Silver commented, as Mr. Discord assigned reach of them their rooms, "Well, good night everyone," he said, as he entered the room.

"GOOD NIGHT," everyone said, as they entered their rooms.

The next morning, Raiden and the other decided to head to where Twilight and the others were, "They're all at Sweet Apple Acres on the edge of town, according to Eris. She says their practicing for that completion at school," Mr. Discord said.

"Ok, but what direction do we head?" Silver asked.

"Just head west of the school. You can't miss it," Mr. Discord replied, "Oh! And can you tell Eris that I'll be at the Battle tonight?" he asked.

"Sure thing," Raiden said, as the boys headed back towards the school.

One hour later,

"Man, Sweet Apple Acres is farther than I thought," Brian commented, as the boys continued to walk.

"Quit complaining Brian, we're almost there," Raiden said, before they were all stopped by a large black van. The front door of the van opened, and much to their surprise, another human Twilight stepped out wither hair done up in a bun.

"A HUMAN TWILIGHT? NEVER SAW THAT COMING," Echo-Echo commented.

"Fascinating!" Twilight said, walking towards the robot teen, "A robot that thinks for itself? Truly remarkable!" Twilight said.

"He's not actually a robot. He's actually a human boy with a robotic metal exoskeleton, capable of high powered sonic blasts," Raiden explained.

"So, you built it?" Twilight asked.

"Also, Echo-Echo's a 'he', not an 'it'," Silver deadpanned.

"And he's our brother," Stealth added.

"Now, if you don't mind, we're kind of in a hurry," Raiden said, as he pulled Echo-Echo away from Twilight, as he and the others left for Sweet Apple Acres.

"What's the hurry?" Twilight asked.

"We have some valuable information for our friends from Canterlot High," Raiden replied, wanting to escape the human Twilight before she gave him a migraine.

"Canterlot High? I've been trying to figure out what goes on at that school since last fall!" Twilight said.

"Really? Well, we'll just leave you to that," Brian said, as the boys walked away.

"But I..." Twilight didn't get a chance to speak before the boys were out of hearing range, "I wanted to see the technology that blue robot had," she said pouting.

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN THEY LEFT?!" Raiden cried, as he and the others arrived at Sweet Apple Acres.

"That's what Ah said young man," Granny Smith said, as Raiden hung his head down in defeat.

"Great, then we came all the way here for nothing," he said, despairingly.

"Well, before they left, mah granddaughter said they were heading to the school for that big musical contest," Granny said, which made Raiden raise his head in acknowledgement.

"Alright, thanks!" Raiden said, as he went to join his brother and friends, "Bad news guys. Twilight and the girls left for the school," he explained.

"Great, so now we've got to walk all the way back to the school! Just perfect!" Brian snarled angrily.

"Calm down Brian. We know the way, so it shouldn't take too long," Silver said, as they all left for the school.
