//------------------------------// // Secret revealed // Story: Time for Spike to be a Kid! // by The Soviet Turtle //------------------------------// Today was the day of the talent show. The ponies of Ponyville tried to get some final practise before they go onto the stage to show everypony else. The theatre to be used was the same the Cutie Mark Crusaders used for one of their earlier escapades, involving a certain song. There was some great preparation as the Princesses would be judging the contest themselves. A last minute note sent down by Luna to the mayor announcing she would also like to attend. But moving along, Spike and his friends were doing their practise in the Whitetail Woods. Rumble brought down an esky with water bottle Spike finished the last of his performance before he took a breather. “Okay. I think we should take five.” Spike suggested. “Yeah. My throat’s starting to hurt.” Sweetie Belle said as she took the water bottle offered by Featherweight. The rest of the CMC took the news very well that Sweetie Belle had gotten her cutie mark. The group celebrated and convinced the CMC to not try their cutie marks involving fireworks. “You guys think I’ll do it?” Spike asked his friends. “’Course ya will. Ah’ve seen it and think it’s great!” Applebloom said. “And besides, it doesn't matter if you win the prize or not. Will still like ya.” Scootaloo said. Spike smiled before he talked to them all. “Thanks guys. I’m going to give it my all in this contest, and no hard feelings?” Spike asked. “Of course not. Friends to the end mate.” Pipsqueak said. The group each grabbed a bottle, clashed them against each there announcing ‘Cheers!’ before they each took a sip from their bottles. “Well, well. Look at this Silver Spoon. A bunch of blank flanks and losers.” That snotty voice disrupted the enjoyment the group where having as they turned to see Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon. Standing there, probably with the goal of ruining their afternoon. “What do ya want Diamond Tiara?” Applebloom asked. “Just walking by. Looking at the blank flank LOSERS trying to practise for the contest tonight.” Diamond Tiara said. “Why do you care?” Spike asked. “Because me and Silver are going to win that contest and blow everypony away.” Diamond said, Silver nodding like a sidekick. “How do you know?” Scootaloo asked. “Umm, because it’s amazing!” Diamond announced. “What do you do?” Rumble asked. “Pfff, like I’m going to tell you! You’ll probably try and steal it.” Diamond accused the group. “Can you just please go?” Sweetie Belle asked. Diamond looked at her and glared. “OOOH! Does Stupid Belle think she’s better now she has a cutie mark?” Featherweight grinded his teeth as Diamond Tiara made fun of Sweetie. “Diamond. Can you just go away?” Featherweight asked. Diamond grinned as she had clearly gotten under their skin . “And why? I’m quite happy here. And I’m clearly winning right know.” Diamond said. “Why do you even do this anyway?” Spike asked. “Because we can. And you can’t stop us.” Diamond said walking up to the dragon. His friends and especially Applebloom stared with anger at the pink filly. “Yeah, I guess you’re right. No pony’s stopping you.” Spike said casually. His friends all looked at him like he was Pinkie Pie breaking physics. Diamond smiled and turned away. “And don’t you forget it you-“She stopped as she felt a huge amount of heat immediately shot up from behind her. She looked behind to see a green flame, thinking it was her on fire. “AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!” The pink filly jumped up into the air and dashed away from the group. Silver Spoon looking at her friend run away. “Diamond, wait!” She looked back at Spike and his friends. “You guys will pay for that!” She then ran away to find her scared friend. Spike smiled as he saw quickly put the fire out with his foot. It was only a small one and he knew it wouldn't burn so he really didn't hurt anypony. His friends coming up to congratulate him. “Nice work Spike.” Featherweight said as Scootaloo patted him on his back. “Nah, it’s nothing.” Spike said. “Should we start practising again?” Dinky asked. “Sure. More couldn’t hurt.” Rumble said. The group of friends began to practise once again, but it wasn’t going according to plan. “This is getting easy!” Scootaloo said as she did her tricks with her scooter. But her hoof slipped from underneath her during one of her tricks and sent the scooter flying off. Scootaloo landing on her rump as Rumble and Dinky ran over to help Scootaloo, her scooter heading straight towards an unsuspecting Spike. Scootaloo pushed herself up with her hooves as she saw the incoming collision. “Spike! Look out!” But she was too late as the dragon had his legs trip up from behind him and somehow landed on the scooter. He couldn’t copperhead what was happening before the scooter continued its way towards the town. “Quick, we gotta catch him before he crashes!” Applebloom waved her hoof and began to run after Spike, the rest of her friends following. Meanwhile, Spike grabbed onto the sides of the scooter for dear life as he was rocketed to the town. He was too scared of falling off to try and stand up and just tried to avoid any collisions with the trees. His hood flew in the wind as Spike narrowly dodged a tree before he was about to make direct contact with a pile of leaves. The scooter finally stopped as it sent leaves into the air, but Spike was propelled out of the woods and into town. His friends just catching up to see the flying dragon. “Hurry, we gotta go faster!” Applebloom pointed out. “I see if I can get their faster!” Scootaloo yelled as she pulled her scooter out of the pile of leaves and began to rid it ahead of the group. Spike felt something he had never really felt before. Sure he fell from up high after his…incident, but he was just falling down then. Here, he was soaring. He looked down to see the town below him, the ponies going as usual their daily lives in Ponyville as if nothing unusual was happening. He then looked up to see the sky above him, he took notice of a flock of birds passing by, and seeing some Pegasus flying up in the air somewhere. And the best part, the wind against his face. He closed his eyes as the feeling of the breeze was conforting and thrilling at the same time. But the feeling was cut off as he soon felt like he was going down again. He opened his eyes to see he was going down very fast. So he could protect himself, he curled himself into a ball and hoped for a soft landing. But by amazing coincidence, he landed on a stretched piece of cloth, which acted as a trampoline and sent he into the air before he bounced of another and finally landing on a cart full of barrels. His landing however caused the barrels to start to tumble and roll out. Ponies ran away as barrels and a dragon who struggled to not fall off and not look stupid. He was doing fine with not falling, but the later’s debatable. Ponies who were walking around weren’t expecting barrels to roll towards them, making them jump out of the way to avoid injury. They also weren’t expecting the silly looking dragon on top of one of the barrels trying to stay one, as well as the filly on the scooter speeding after the barrels and a group of fillies and colts. But tragedy was coming up as Spike saw the barrels fly off a makeshift ramp from a cart a pony abandoned for safety. His barrel got closer and closer until his feet lost touch as he was propelled across town again, the barrels floating into a nearby river. Spike wasn’t as high as he was last time but he was still above the houses. He then saw he was heading straight for a…sofa? Cargo wiped the sweat from his brow as he placed the sofa down. He and his friend, Heavy Weight had been carrying this sofa from the station to Quills and Sofas and they needed a break. “You alright Cargo?” “Yeah, I just need a break…and a drink.” Cargo said as he took a breath. He looked up to see a baby dragon coming from the sky and bounce off the sofa over his head and then land on a nearby skateboard before taking off. He just stared in the direction for some time until a voice snapped him out. “Cargo!” He shook his head to look at his partner. “You alright?” “Yeah…I just really need some water.” Spike braced for impact before he bounced of the sofa and did a front flip before he saw a skateboard below him with two ponies arguing over it. “Are you kidding me? It’s obviously worth sixty bits!” “Sir, you’ve asked me to deliver this to you, which I am doing for free. And I made this with my own hooves, it’s still seventy-five.” “Alright, how about sixty-five?” “No.” “Oh come on!” Spike was once again getting propelled through town, but he saw he could soon gain control of the problem. He was almost thrown off the board but was able to stop it from moving from left to right. He looked up to see what was ahead of him, which was the market district. He quickly leaned to the right to dodge a shopper and then to the left to dodge a cart full of vegetables. He said sorry to both of the ponies before he went pale at what was in front of him. Ponies, stands and carts. Nothing but that for the rest of the entire district. Oh no Spike reacted quickly as time for him slowed down. He quickly leaned right and left, sometimes jumping over carts and landing on the skateboard. Although not perfectly, he nearly fell off or on his back more than once. He then saw the entire street blocking the way. He was about to panic until he saw a gap were the skateboard could roll through to the end of the crowd but not with him on it. He jumped off of the board and quickly started to jump on ponies backs. He jumped from pony to pony, dodging wings that flail up in surprise and trying to not get knocked off by the surprised ponies. He did this until he jumped off the last pony and landed on his stomach on the board. The ponies looking in awe as they witnessed the unknown presence on their backs. “Excuse us!” The ponies jumped out of the way as Scootaloo moved through at faster speeds, the rest not too far behind. Spike raised himself to see he was just outside of the town hall. He quickly pushed himself up to his feet and gained control of the board again. He soon put force onto the back of the skateboard, making it grind into the dirt, stopping the wheels from rolling anymore. He sighed a deep breath as his adrenaline was finally depleted. He got off of the board and fell onto his rump. His entire body felt tired a little painful. Scootaloo soon skidded next to Spike and hopped off, their friends right behind her. They rushed over to check on the drake. “Spike, are ya okay?” Applebloom asked deeply worried. He just kept on looking down and breathing heavily. “Spike, you okay dude?” Rumble asked. No response. “Spike. Can you hear us?” Pipsqueak asked. Spike continued to breathe heavily and his chest kept on beating wildly, but he managed to speak some words between the breathers. “That…was…The funniest thing…I have ever done…” “So, you okay?” Scootaloo asked. “Okay? I’m AWESOME!” Spike yelled with unexpected enthusiasm, his friends joining in on his cheering. The ponies around and those who were at the market were about to go and check on the drake but after that response, they smiled as nostalgia filled their minds. Spike laughed and cheered with his friends, even though he was in pain from the ordeal, it was incredibly fun. He not only rode a skateboard for the first time, he experienced what a select few that aren’t Pegasus, dragon or any other creature of the air ever did. He also had his friends there to see if he was alright. He thought back over the last few days and smiled as he realised he had done things he never done before. He loved those days and today, he wouldn't want to be anywhere else. … Yeah, you know it’s coming. “SPIKE!!!” The laughter stopped as Spike looked to the source and his face immediately dropped. As did his friends. Right before him, was six fuming ponies. He knew them very well, especially the one at the front who, if looks glares could melt solid objects, would have Canterlot a white sludge falling off the mountain in a second. His worst fears that week where now in front of him, staring him down like prey. It was Twilight Sparkle.
