It has been 2 weeks since Twilight appointed Sunset Shimmer her Royal Assistant and the workload of all the royal duties lessened by 75%. With all the extra free time Both Sunset and Twilight had time to spend together. While spending this quality time they both tried their plans out but was having no success of who had the upper hand. So they each upped the effort which was increasingly getting worse for ponies and dragons around them.
For the meantime Twilight and Sunset were inside the Castle of Friendship (I only assume that is the name of the Castle, correct me if I’m wrong). Twilight was sitting on her Throne while Sunset was sitting next to her. They were both listening to the CMC’s case about ‘building’ something.
“So let me get this straight.” Sunset said sitting up from her seat. “You girls want to build a house in the town without any experience of building or schematics of the house itself.”
The CMC all nodded in unison. Sweetie Belle spoke up for them.
“Yeah, we think it would be pretty cool to make a house from scratch and maybe we’ll earn our cutie marks in building or some kind of construction.”
Sunset sat back and hoofpalmed her head several times. All of this was giving her a headache. Twilight got up from her Throne and walked in front of the girls. Three small cute-faced mares were trained on Twilight as she spoke.
“I’m sorry girls but without any proper training or design I cannot allow you to build a house or any kind of structure.”
Applebloom spoke this time.
“Aw but Twilight.”
Twilight put her hoof out in front of the girls to silence them.
“No buts now go play outside and have fun.”
The three fillies left the castle in sadness.
Sunset stepped down from her seat and walked around Twilight to face her directly.
“So suddenly The Princess of Friendship has an abrasive side.” Sunset cooed.
Twilight raised an eye brow. “I’ve always had this side it’s just no one really brings it out.”
‘We’ll see about that.’ Sunset thought.
The court session was over within 3 hours in the morning and Sunset and Twilight decided to visit Princess Celestia and Princess Luna. Sunset Shimmer told Twilight not to send her a letter but to surprise her.
“It’s a good idea.” Said Sunset walking onto the train car with Twilight.
“I always send her a letter before I visit. It will be unjust of me to not do so.” Twilight countered sitting on a seat within the empty train cart.
“Then blame it on me.” Sunset began to look out the window. “I wonder why you can’t just use your Alicorn Magic to teleport to Canterlot?” Sunset asked not facing Twilight anymore trying to end the conversation.
“Because I don’t normally use long distance teleporting like that.” Twilight lied.
“Now I know that’s a lie because you teleported to Appleusa just yesterday then back to your castle.” Sunset countered her argument with precision. Always knowing what to say next when it came to Twilight. Luna was right when she said that both I and Twilight think alike.
-An Hour later-
What seemed like a 24 hour train ride suddenly came to a stop in front of the brilliant city of Canterlot. Both Susnet and Twilight were eager to escape from the train cart. Sunset practically kissed the ground in happiness.
“Sweet ground. Sweet, sweet glorious ground.” Sunset traced her hoofs on concrete train station floor.
‘Why don’t to act like that on me Sunset?’ Twilight dreamt watching Sunset kissing the floor attempting to hug it.
Without knowledge on Twilight’s part Sunset grabbed her hoof and teleported to the castle entrance. This surprised Twilight not that the teleporting factor was surprising but the fact that she did it at an instance. Twilight to this day cannot figure out how Sunset can perform most advanced magic without a charge or lingering source.
Once inside the castle (escorted of course) they went to the Throne Room where Celestia and Luna were both sitting. They didn’t notice them walking in so Sunset took advantage of the situation. She motioned Twilight to follow her.
The confused Twilight that was following Sunset kept asking her: “Why are we hiding?” Susnet began to giggle to herself.
“I want to scare the Princess. It will be funny.” Sunset whispered.
Twilight looked at her as if she’s gone insane. “Do you want to get yourself killed? Princess Luna and Princess Celestia don’t like that kind of stuff especially if it’s done to them.”
“You worry too much Twilight lighten up.” Sunset said peering over. She saw Princess Luna talking to a guard but not Princess Celestia.
“That’s odd.” Sunset said to Twilight returning to their hiding spot.
“What’s odd? What’s happening?” Twilight asked getting worked up again.
“Calm down Twi, Princess Celestia is just away from Princess Luna I’m sure she’ll return.”
This worried Twilight even more. She peered over Sunset’s head to see that she was right Luna was the only one there. As if Celestia just suddenly vanished.
‘Where did she go?’ Twilight thought.
The two mares kept peering over looking at Luna talking to some of the guards. They didn’t notice another Alicorn was right behind them peering over Twilight looking at the same thing they were. Sunset looked up at Twilight.
“When Princess Celestia comes back we’ll spring out and yell ‘SURRPISE!’. It will be the perfect plan”
Twilight scanned the room she didn’t see Celestia anywhere.
“Gotcha…”
Both Sunset and Twilight jumped screaming running to the center of the Throne Room Celestia appeared right behind them from their hiding spot laughing as she walked to her Throne seat.
“You two would’ve pulled it off if it wasn’t for you two being so loud. The Objective is to be silent when preparing to scare somepony.” Celestia said sitting on her Throne.
Both Twilight and Sunset with shocked expressions written on their faces sat down where they stood in defeat. They shouldn’t have known something was amiss with the situation. Celestia suddenly disappears and Luna talking to the guards. They planned it from the start. Sunset had to admit it was a smart counterplan.
“Well mom, I commend you for coming up with a counterplan on the spot like that.” Said Sunset walking towards the Princess. Twilight followed behind her.
“Knowing you Sunset I have such countermeasures for things like that.”
Sunset gave Celestia a hug who then hugged back. Celestia looked to Twilight who wants slightly scared out of her mind.
“Don’t worry Twilight, I know you were trying to avoid this.” This made Twilight sigh in relief.
The entire visit was fun and exciting Both Luna and Celestia were showing the girls a good time in Canterlot. Twilight never seen this side of Celestia before not even Luna. This was confusing to Twilight but she dismissed the thoughts assuming that they were acting like this because of Sunset.
-2 Hours later-
The evening in Canterlot was a beautiful sight as the streets and sights the surround the Princesses, Twilight and Sunset became livelier. Despite the noble sophistication that most ponies in Canterlot they couldn’t help but take it all in.
Once they returned to the castle the 4 mares sat around a circle table talking about upcoming events and such.
“So Sunset is now your Royal Assistant? I thought Spike would have that job.” Celestia said sipping some tea.
“That’s what I said but she insisted she says that: she’s the only Princess to not have one.” This made Celestia look at Twilight who was chuckling nervously.
“What do you mean “Not the only Princess to have one.” Me and Luna don’t have Royal Assistants neither does Cadence.” Twilight was caught right then and there.
Twilight hesitating with her statement. “You see Princess… You have Luna to help you and vice versa Cadence has my brother to help her out.”
“He’s a Prince and she’s a Princess. He’s NOT a Royal Assistant.” Luna said.
“But still you all have someone who can help you but I don’t.” said Twilight.
“If you have taken notice of how you’re making it out to be Twilight Sparkle you’re saying that you need another Princess with you… Because me and Celestia are both Princesses who can handle such tasks same situation for Cadence and Shining Armor but he’s a Prince however the situation doesn’t change.”
“Then I guess I need another Princess to help me out.”
Sunset was listening to all of this. Just observing them going back and forth with this topic. However this didn’t need Sunset’s help she will only burn the fire brighter if she stepped in so she kept her mouth shut.
“There is no other Princess to help you Twilight.” Celestia said
“There has to be one.” Twilight put her head down on the table in sadness.
An idea popped in Celestia’s head. She looked to Luna who then had a small telepathic conversation. Twilight looked at Sunset who was just sitting there.
“You’re not going to say anything?” Twilight asked getting more angry then sad.
Sunset saw this and acted quickly. “If I joined in I would’ve just fueled the fire. I was going to speak when everything settled.”
Twilight’s anger became depression. “Great now the Princesses are mad at me.”
Sunset went over to Twilight and put a hoof around her embracing her. “Hey, hey look they’re not mad at you.”
Twilight was crying small tears. “Yes they are. They are mad at me and now I don’t think this can be fixed.”
Sunset rubbed her back to put her at ease which worked but took some time. “Look Twilight they are not mad at you trust me I know when they’re mad they are not mad.”
She looked away. “Please Twilight listen to reason they are not mad. Please look at me.” Twilight looked at her and continued to stare. Just like in the bathroom the stare seemed to stop time and space. Everything frozen but the two. They began to lean in closer to each other lessening the distance between the two. The space was now at a mere millimeters apart. They can feel each other’s body heat increase with every motion. Finally Sunset closed the gap between them and met her lips with Twilight’s.
While in real-time this lasted for 5 seconds in their own world this lasted for 5 hours. The pulse of this new feeling emitted an electric surge within each of their minds that put them on overdrive. The sense of accomplishment was in the air for both mares who parted from their small kiss. They shared a hug embracing each other. This was their moment a new start of their lives the beginning of their new relationship.
This scene was short lived as two Alicorns watched this unfold. Both mare’s eyes were focused into each other not caring about anything else but themselves. Celestia looked at Luna and nodded in agreement. Celestia coughed to get their attention both sets of eyes that was once trained on each other now staring at the Sun Princess.
“Well girls this is… Um something new…”
“I’ve been knowing so this isn’t much of a surprise.” Said Luna interjecting.
“Again this is a surprise to me so all I can say is Congratulations.” Celestia stated both Sunset and Twilight gave her silent nods of a ‘Thank you’.
“Now then there is a much more pressing matter to discuss Twilight. You want another Princess to help you out around the castle? Now mind you ALL the Princesses share equal powers and all share a specialty or specific power that is a commodity to both their subjects and Equestria as a whole; for an example Cadence is the Princess of Love of which she spreads love all across Equestria while attending to her own subjects as well.” Luna stated.
“I understand of what is required of a princess, Princess Luna.” Twilight said
“Well then it’s settled. Twilight I will ask you a series of questions you will answer them to your own honesty.” Luna said leaning forward.
Twilight nodded and prepared for the small quiz. “Ready!”
“1, Who helps you around your castle?”
“Spike and Sunset.”
“2, Who has been Assisting you mostly?”
“Sunset.”
“3, Who has been helping you with Friendship issues and anything related to the task?”
“Sunset.”
This Questionnaire seemed all too general. Sunset began to think of why she was asking Twilight these questions.
“Lastly 4, Who would you in trust to be a Princess at your side. No matter what situation or circumstance?”
Twilight had to think about this one really hard. All of her friends couldn’t all be princesses and the only one to be spending any time at all with her is Sunset lately these past few weeks. Twilight looked and saw all faces concentrated on her, there was no way out of this question and she was never a personal basis Pony to depict a princess just out of the blue.
Twilight then thought about Sunset. Again she was the only one to spend time with her these past weeks and never left her side not once. Her and Sunset literally just became a couple and will share an eternity with each other. Their love is unprecedented. Twilight finally made up her mind.
