//------------------------------// // Chapter 5 // Story: Book 1: A Sunlight Story // by Universal Timegate //------------------------------// Nighttime in Equestria. All in Ponyville asleep, not a sound or trace of waking anytime soon. Well all expect for one Unicorn who was cuddling with a young Alicorn mare in bed. She left the embrace and walked to the castle’s kitchen to grab some water and something to eat. Sunset grabbed a piece of the cake Twilight tried to make and a glass of milk. She examined the burnt treat in front of her. ‘If I die by this then at least I’ll die knowing that Twilight didn’t mean to.’ Sunset thought as she took her first bite. Disgusted with the taste she drank the glass of milk down every time she took a bite to mask the taste. But since there was nothing to eat that didn’t require cooking Sunset had no choice. As soon as Sunset finished the last bite she put the plate in a nearby kitchen sink silently reminding herself to wash it in the morning before Twilight sees. She began to walk back to Twilight’s room when see hear someone from the Throne room. ‘Must be Spike…’ Sunset thought as she continued her way back. The sounds gotten louder within the large hallway back which caught her attention very quickly. She strafed from her path to the room and went to the source of the sounds. Something like that couldn’t be Spike. When Sunset stepped into the Throne Room she was Princess Luna sitting on a low floating black cloud. The cloud seemed to knock over a few items from a glass vase to a glass cup on Rainbow Dash’s Throne. Luna looked at the shattered glass beneath her and blushed noticeably. “Terribly sorry Sunset Shimmer...” Luna shined a dark blue aura and restored the glass objects that were once broken and put them all on the dining table in the next room. Sunset bowed respectfully but then Luna laughed a little. Now confused Sunset raised her head up to figure what was so funny. “Sunset Shimmer you don’t have to bow when you’re around me and Celestia you’re part of our Royal family.” Luna stated with a half smiling half chucking expression. ‘Well at least that’s a perk.’ Sunset thought. “Well yes you can consider it a perk.” Luna said back to Sunset who looked at her with a surprised mouth hanging open expression that make Luna laugh again. “Your mom didn’t tell you that I can read minds. Along with going in and out of ponies dreams I can also analyze and read their thoughts.” Sunset still with a dumbfounded look sat down. “Well I guess I have to call you Aunt Luna.” Sunset spoke softly “You don’t have to if you don’t want to. Though my sister will kill me or banish me to the moon if you were harmed under my watch or care.” Sunset and Luna shared a good laugh from that comment. “Now that all is settled I must ask you that why you are here since your job is being outside and controlling the moon.” Sunset didn’t really cared for the reason but for Twilight’s sake she had to know. “Well it’s simple a little birdie told me that you like a certain pony. A mare actually and that mare just so happens to be here in Ponyville.” Luna said. ‘Dammit’ Sunset thought. “Refrain from using a swear please Sunset. Your mother wouldn’t look at that kind of talk kindly.” Noted said with a hoof in the air. “Noted… But how did you know that it was Twilight?” Sunset asked. “I didn’t, I just took a shot in the dark and by confessing this to me now I know.” ‘Buck me!’ Sunset screamed in her mind. “Sunset…” Luna said coldly “I know. I know.” Luna got off of her cloud and stood proudly and presented a radiance blue and black glow with the night sky gleaming on her. “I’m not going to go into the details of why or how you like Twilight in such a way but I will be glad to help you Sunset I know Twilight a lot more than you think.” Sunset sat on Twilight’s Throne and began this going-to-be-long conversation. “Well I do love Twilight more than you think Aunt Luna. But if you know what she likes and dislikes then I can use that to my advantage to win her over. Maybe she and I share very similar interests. Sunset sat back to get more comfortable. “While I believe that love should be on discovery but Twilight is not a mare to be taken lightly. She is VERY picky on certain things and topics so you must be punctual and accurate to the mind and touch.” Luna began, Sunset made a clipboard and quail appear and levitated it by magic so she can keep up with Luna’s speed of speech. “Twilight is in favor of books that is more obvious. But she does like those who share a same mind as her which is what you possess Sunset. You and her were both Students of Celestia and you’re the Daughter of Celestia of you both share very similar interests and likes in terms of learning and mind-set.” Luna pointed out how Sunset is taking notes just like Twilight does. “She doesn’t have a food preference or a preference to people considering that she’s the Princess of Friendship.” “That much is more obvious.” Sunset said. “Quite, now Twilight can be very easily annoyed. She doesn’t her time wasted. Well it also depends on the subject, so just keep everything as interesting as possible. If you feel that the situation is too lax then try to change it but don’t make it sudden.” Luna states. “Lastly, help her out from time to time so that you care a great deal about her. Make her priorities your priorities. She will then see that you show devotion and care for her. Luna finished sitting back on her dark cloud that she appeared with. Sunset finished off the last of her notes and kept making small versions of them in her head to ensure that her plan to win Twilight over will go as according. She even came up with several back plans in her head as a runtime solution in case that some situations seem either too boring. Sunset made the clipboard and quail disappear soon afterwards. “Thank you Luna for the help I’ll let you know about how everything goes.” Sunset said hugging the Princess of the Night. “I’m sure that your chances will be a great success Sunset now if you will excuse me I need to return to my royal duties for the remainder of this night.” Luna then teleported out of the castle to who knows where leaving Sunset all alone in the Throne Room. Sunset began walking back to Twilight’s Room. While on the Spike exited from his room. He looked really tired and from the look of it worn out. “What are you doing up at 4am?” Spike asked. “Just thinking of something and are you okay you seem… Out of it” “No I’m okay I always wake up at this time to prepare for the day before Twilight wakes up.” Spike began to walk to the kitchen but Sunset stopped him. “Spike go back to bed I’ll handle everything this morning.” He began to resist Sunset’s hoof in front of him. “It’s my duty as Twilight’s 1# Assistant to prepare everything and get ready for any problem or situation for her.” Sunset still didn’t budge. “Look I’m going to level with you I know it’s your duty but…” “But what?” Spike stopped trying to get pass Sunset to listen. But then it hit him of why she wanted to do this. He put her hoof down and smiled. “Win her over Sunset Shimmer…” He went back to the room where he initially came from. Sunset couldn’t help but smile at his gesture she expected him to be a little bit more defensive with it. ‘The Dragon is not a baby after all.’ Sunset thought entering Twilight’s Room. Settling herself within the bed sheets and embracing Twilight like before Sunset began to drift off to dreamland about how Twilight and her would be.
