Dream come true?

Ch 8: Heading home and Crazy workplaces.

The next day saw Gilda and I on the train back to Ponyville along with the Mane Six. Gilda and Rainbow Dash were chatting off to the side, apparently they made up at some point during our stay in Canterlot... Good for them.

As for me, I was staring out the window and watching the scenery pass by as Purple-Smart jabbered on endlessly about the powers she saw me use. Ugh... I think it was a list of questions or something, maybe some exclamations of surprise about powers she didn't know I had and why the list didn't say anything. Can't say I'm sure about that though, I tuned her out a while ago.

"Finally!" I exclaimed joyfully, walking off the train. "Free from interrogation!" I finished, glancing over at Sparkles.

Gilda gave a small chuckle at that, along with Rainbow Dash, "Yeah... You learn to tune her out." Rainbow told me with a small smirk.

Ignoring Twilight's protests I grinned back, "Tune what out?" I asked playfully, "I stopped listening after the first ten seconds."

Rainbow flopped onto a cloud as she laughed, soon joined by Gilda. "You know what, I can kinda see why Gilda likes you.. You're pretty cool Jet." The multi-colored mare told me. "Not as cool as me of course, but still cool."

"Thanks." I began, "But I think I'm at least twenty percent cooler than you." I told her with a smirk.

"Hey, that's my line!" She cried out before her ears flopped back onto her head as she glared at Gilda, Pinkie, and Twilight, all of whom were laughing. "Wow, no support here..." She muttered with a pout, though she would almost definitely deny pouting if asked.

"So Jet..." Gilda began, "When are you gonna tell us about your powers and stuff?" She asked curiously, "How'd you get abilities like that?"

I began to mentally sweat at that question and glanced over at Twilight, who shook her head as if to say 'You're on your own.'. I glared at her slightly, and she gave me a sheepish smile and a shrug. Dash was right, no support at all....

"Well... Let's just say I was... Forcefully taken to a lab, and injected with them." I told her, not wanting to disclose everything. I know I might have to give her the full truth eventually, but I don't feel like doing it right now... Especially when we're in a large and very public area like this one.

Gilda frowned, "Yikes... That's terrible dude." She told me, looking like she kinda wished she hadn't asked.

I shrugged, "Yeah, but what's past is past." I told her. "Besides, I definitely wouldn't have met you if they hadn't done it." I finished with a grin.

Twilight looked between us, "I hope you don't expect to live together in my library." She deadpanned.

I blinked in shock, I never even thought about that living situation being a problem...

Gilda shrugged, "Jet can come live with me than." She decided, "I've got a cloud-house floating around Ponyville." Gilda than grinned, "Besides, I think he's much better to sleep on than a cloud pillow."

Black feathers are excellent blush-blockers. Which really helps in situations like this, especially since it gave less ammo for any of the ponies to tease me with.

"Why I do believe some-griffon is blushing~.." Rarity teased me with a smirk.

Dammit. Guess it doesn't work as well as I thought, curse you magical blushes that somehow show through dark fur and feathers!

I think I'm just gonna stay a griffon for an indefinite period of time... Though that means that I can't go buck apples for a job, seeing as Applejack hired an earth pony and not a Griffon. "Any of you ponies know where I could get a job?" I asked curiously.

"Oh! Oh! You can come bake at Sugarcube Corner!" Pinkie immediately offered, "Mr. and Mrs. Cake have been wanting to hire another baker for a while!"

Baking huh... Well, I did enjoy baking back on earth. My grandma had some amazing recipes, and home-baked goods always tasted much better than muffins or cakes from a grocery store. "Sure. As long as you've got a recipe book or something I can follow when I start, I'm sure I could bake."

Wonder if I'm getting too trusting and loose... Nah, these are ponies that wield the Elements of Harmony! I doubt I have to worry about them doing something other than pranking me when my back is turned.

"Great, you can start tomorrow morning! Better get a good night's rest Jet, the morning rush is tough!" The pink party pony told me.

I shrugged in response, after all... What's the worst that could happen?

"Two dozen lemon muffins, pronto!" Pinkie called, popping her head into the kitchen.

I glared at her slightly, my form covered in flour, sugar, and various other baking ingredients. "That many!?" I sighed, well... This is more hellish than I though possible. Than again, 'Hell is what you make of it'. "Alright, coming right up!" I told the pink mare, trying to sound positive, "But don't call me pronto!"

She simply giggled, "Okie Dokie Lokie!" She replied, leaving the kitchen to continue watching the register.

"Somepony must be having a get-together or something..." I muttered, working to fill the large order.

"I think I actually prefer the soul-sucking, mind-numbing bore of an office job at this point." I commented idly as I cleaned the kitchen with Pinkie, having closed up Sugarcube Corner a couple hours ago.

"You'll get used to it!" Pinkie chirped, cleaning some egg yolk off the ceiling. How did that get up there... Better yet how did she get on the ceilin-...never mind. It's Pinkie Pie.

"We'll see..." I mumbled, using my intangibility to clean all the baking residue off myself in an instant. Though now I have to mop the floors again...

I went to bed, Gilda snuggling into my side before we slept. "How was work?" She asked.

"...Relentless." I decided, causing her to laugh.

"Good Night Jet."

"Good Night Gilda."
