The sun, the moon, and the planet itself seemed to freeze all at once when Celestia said that she was a mother. But to who is the question. From just hearing Celestia say those words put Twilight’s and Sunset’s mind on an acid trip. Like statues they stood where they stood not moving an inch just processing on what was spoken. Finally Twilight snapped out of her dazed expression and spoke first.
“You’re a Mother Celestia? Who did you give birth too? Who’s the father? Where did you-“ her sentence was cut short by Celestia putting her hoof out.
“Let me settle all of your questions with one answer.” Celestia said looking at Sunset. “I’m glad that you’ve returned to Equestria Sunset Shimmer. You’ve made your Mother very worried ever since you ran away in the portal. I waited for your return but here you are now. I cannot express glad that you’ve returned.”
Again Twilight and Sunset stood like statues in surprised admiration. Twilight snapped out of her trance and looked at Celestia eye to eye.
“So you’re. You’re. You’re-“
“My Mother?” Sunset finished Twilight’s sentence.
Celestia only nodded, “I’m your Adoptive Mother Sunset. I’m sorry that I neglected you and showed you the portal but do know that being a Mother and the Equestrian Ruler does not mix. So by my own selfish gain I chose the wrong path which led you to run away from home to the Human World.” Celestia began to walk back to the Throne Room which Twilight and Sunset followed. “You were destined to rule by my side along with Luna as a Princess but I should’ve known about the phase of demanding as I went through that phase myself.” She sat down on one of the thrones while Twilight sat in hers and Sunset sat in Spike’s. “Even till this day I still try to correct past mistakes so I can be better with myself.”
Before Celestia could continue Sunset placed her hoof on her left wing. “I forgive you Princess Celes- Mom… I know and I can tell that it was very difficult taking care of me and performing your royal duties. But I’m not the filly that you adopted that argued with you and showed rebellion. I’m now a young mare who knows her rights and wrongs and has friends who are there to support me both here and the Human World.” Sunset embraced Celestia who which gave back the same embrace.
The two didn’t separate for a while letting emotions run free within that hug. Twilight could only sit and watch this. She had to think for a brief moment then put two and two together.
‘Sunset Shimmer and Celestia… It makes much more sense now that I think about it but the question is why did she adopt her?’ Twilight thought gently tapping Celestia on the back to get her attention.
Celestia left the embrace and looked at Twilight who began to speak.
“Princess Celestia can you tell us why did you adopted Sunset in the first place. Not to impede on your personal business or anything like that but I just want to know why.” Twilight realized that what she was saying was in fact budding into her personal life.
“Well it all started 21 years ago… I wanted a child but I couldn’t bare one since there wasn’t any potential suitors that were willing to accept me for me and not my status. So went to the local orphanage and requested that I can adopt a child. That is when she pointed to you Sunset. The mare in the orphanage said that you just arrived because your real mother couldn’t take care of you anymore and your father died just as you were born. When I held you in my hooves you crawls onto top of my head and yelled mommy. That was the first time I ever showed straight emotion. So I filled out the paperwork and adopted you. I named you Sunset Shimmer because your fur is the color of the sun setting and your mane represented the flames of the sun radiance.” Celestia finished her story with that last sentence and allowed Twilight and Sunset to process all of it in their minds.
“Such a story for just adopting Sunset.” Twilight said in a low-toned voice.
Celestia stood up and began to walk to the door. She looked back to Sunset and Twilight.
“I need to get back to my castle as I have royal duties to attend to. I’ll see you girls later and I have a feeling that a certain Princess will help one of you.” Celestia shined a golden aura and teleported away from sight.
-13 Hours later-
Its 11pm in Equestria and the whole town of Ponyville has gone silent and the crickets’ chirps and buzzed about during the night lit fields. Many animals slept soundly and peacefully. Our two Loveable Mares were in the same bed again embracing one another but however talking instead of sleeping.
In an embrace that makes them out to be a couple that they are unaware of they begin talking while their faces were mere inches away.
“So how does it now feel to be friends with the Daughter of Celestia?” Sunset asked in confidence, her pride was taking over in this conversation that much Twilight can see.
“I made it’s surprising I can say but I’m also honored.” Twilight said; ‘I want you even more now you don’t even know Sunset.’ Twilight thought in her mind while keeping a straight face on the outside.
“Well I’m pretty sure I don’t have any political power in terms of what she can do but it would be nice to see how the leaders of Equestria function together.” Sunset shifted slightly too where she was closer to Twilight.
This close proximity with this mare put Twilight in a state of bliss but she wanted more than just cuddling she want to feel her and even taste her if that was possible. Then Twilight thought about something that seemed stupid to ask but went with it.
“Sunset I want an honest answer when I ask you this and I only ask you this question for a personal reason and not for a social gain.” Sunset shrugged and motioned her to continue.
Twilight took a deep breath. “Do you like mares?”
The room was silent for about 3 minutes until Sunset spoke. “Of course I like mares. I’m friends with a lot and I’m friends with you.” Twilight facehoofed as a response.
“That is NOT what I was asking. I meant do you LIKE mares?” Twilight asked again but put more emphasis on the question.
It took Sunset another good minute to realize what she was driving at.
“Oh! Uh… I never thought about that I guess I am attached to mares-“ Sunset was cut off by the mare next to her scream “YES!!!” at the top of her lungs.
“Umm… Twilight are you okay?” Sunset asked as Twilight held up her forehooves in the air in victory. She then snapped out of her monumental happiness.
“Oh, hehehe. Ummm. Yes…”
