Doctor Whooves: The Temporal Schism

Letter from a Friend

"And then fuse the proton inhibitor with the fusion generator." The Doctor finished.

"The what?" Sunset asked, who was under the TARDIS floor, conducting repairs.

"The red sphere, and the blue cube." The Doctor said, rolling his eyes.

Sunset pressed the button on the sonic screwdriver and fused the proton inhibitor with the fusion generator. At least she hoped she did. She wonder how The Doctor was able to conduct repairs on the TARDIS, or how he even knew what, and where everything was. Without instructions, she probably would've sent the TARDIS flying into a black hole, or something.

"Okay, that should do it." The Doctor said.

"Do what?" Twilight asked, as she helped pull Sunset out of the floor.

"Stabilize the landing procedure." The Doctor clarified. "The TARDIS should be landing in modern day, still at Canterlot High. Now, listen, and listen very carefully. Once it lands, you'll only have half an hour to do what I tell you. Are you listening."

"Yes." Sunset said, rubbing dust of her jacket.

"Good. Now, once the TARDIS lands, go straight to Canterlot High, and go into Principal Celestia's office. Don't stop for anything. Nothing at all, you got it?"

"Yes." Twilight confirmed.

"Brilliant. In Celestia's office, you'll get more instructions."

"In Celestia's office?" Sunset asked.

"Yep."

"Are you sure?"

The Doctor eyed them in a 'really' sort of gaze. "Extremely."

"Okay." Twilight said. The TARDIS sound stopped. "We've landed."

"Okay, go now!" The Doctor shouted. The two girls rushed out of the TARDIS, and ran straight to the school. They didn't stop. They just kept running. They entered the school and sprinted to Celestia's office, leaving students wonder what was going on.

They ran into the room, and closed the door behind them. They turned around and saw both Celestia and Luna standing there. "Hello girls, we've been expecting you," Luna said, calmly. "please, take a seat."

The two girls looked at each other, and sat down. "I bet you're wondering what this is about." Celestia said. It wasn't a question.

"Yes, we are." Twilight confirmed.

"Maybe this will explain it." Celestia said, and pulled out a letter from her desk, and handed it to Twilight. It looked fairly old. It was labeled to be given to Twilight and Sunset, on November 23rd 2015, 1:42 p.m. which was apparently today. She looked to see who it was from. It said on it, The Doctor.

"Where, and when did you get this?" Twilight asked, handing the letter to Sunset, so she could examine it.

"The Doctor gave it to us on July eighth 1991." Luna explained. "He gave us a specific date and time to give it to you. And, he was right on the dime."

"But, how did he knew when to give it to us?" Sunset asked.

"He didn't tell us." Celestia said.

Twilight eyed the letter strangely, and then opened it. She unfolded the letter, and read it aloud:

Twilight and Sunset,

If my calculations are correct you will receive this letter before I contact you, and thus, I will give you the instructions that I've already given you, or that you are about to receive. It's a little confusing. Anyway, first things first, once you've read, go to Sunset's apartment, you'll need a piece of fabric, doesn't matter what color, a washcloth, a whisk, a piece of copper wire, a grapefruit, some chips (or French Fries as you call them) and a pickle. Don't ask what they're for, I'll tell you once you're back in the TARDIS. Also, make sure you don't stop. Don't socialize with any of your friends, or stop for chips. I also hope you're not still sitting in Celestia's office reading this letter aloud.

Twilight looked up. "How does he know we're still in here?" Sunset asked.

"He's very perceptive." Twilight replied.

"I'm sorry, but, we've got to go." Sunset said, standing up.

"I know, good luck." Celestia said, and waved them good-bye. Luna did the same.

Once the girls were gone, Luna spoke. "You think they know what's going to happen?"

"No," Celestia admitted. "I just hope they're prepared for it."

As they fast-walked to Sunset's apartment, Twilight continued to read The Doctor's letter aloud:

Chances are after reading that last sentence, you decided to leave Celestia's office and are now en route to Sunset's apartment as we speak, well read, well, whatever. Anyway, These materials will become important later, trust me. I know you want to ask me in person about what they're for, but, as I said, I'll tell you via video back at the TARDIS.

Until then,
The Doctor

"That's it." Twilight said, as they entered Sunset's apartment.

"Really?" Sunset asked.

"Really." Twilight confirmed.

"So, what was it we needed?" Sunset asked.

"Well, first things first, a piece of fabric..." Twilight listed off the items and Sunset grabbed each item accordingly. Once they finished, Sunset put all the items in a bag, and the girls left the apartment.

"How much time do we have left?" Twilight asked.

Sunset checked her watch. She gasped. "Seven minutes."

"We'd better hurry." The girls sped up their walking, to running, and ran into the TARDIS with just thirty seconds left.

"Wait until the very last second, why don't you?" The Doctor said, as they entered. "Oh well, it could be worse, you could've missed it."

The TARDIS took off, as Twilight spoke. "You know, I think we might've been on time if you hadn't sent us on a wild goose chase!"

"Hey, from my point of view, it's already happened!" The Doctor snapped back, pointing a finger at Twilight, which was difficult as he was still on a screen.

"Still, what are the items for?" Twilight asked.

"Okay," The Doctor grabbed a piece of paper and started to list off the items. "The piece of fabric, one of my suit interior is torn, I'll need you to sew it back together. The washcloth, that's for cleaning up any mess you made conducting repairs. The whisk, I needed a new one, Donna broke my old one trying to make eggs. Emphasizing on trying. The copper wire, I'll need you to place that in the conduction circuit of the TARDIS. And the chips are for you when you get hungry."

"What about the grapefruit?" Sunset asked.

"Oh, that's for me." The Doctor said, tossing the grapefruit in the air. "I needed something fresh to eat."

"So, let me get this straight, you sent on a scavenger hunt to get random things you didn't even need?!" Twilight shouted.

"Oi!" The Doctor shouted. "They're not useless. I needed them. The parts needed to fix the TARDIS you'll be able to when the TARDIS lands next."

"And, when is that?" Twilight asked.

"Oh, in about five minutes." The Doctor said, looking at his watch.

"No, I mean, in what time period will we land in next?" Twilight clarified.

"Oh, that's an easy one, 2100."
