Chapter 1 - How? Just... How?

Radiance yawned sleepily and turned her head to face the front door of her vacation home in Manehatten, a letter had just dropped through her letter slot. She sat up and dropped to the floor and trotted over to the letter, she picked it up in her wing and went back over to the couch and sat down.

She opened the letter and pulled out the pieces of parchment, she picked up the first piece and started to read.

"Okay, what is this? Is this some kind of joke?" Radiance asked, rereading both pieces of parchment. "Everypony knows that only unicorns and alicorns can do magic." She said, dropping both pieces of parchment. She glanced at them both again and sighed. "Why not? It's not like anything bad will happen if I go and it's real."

She glanced at the clock and jumped off the couch to look for some paper and a quill.

After giving the strange owl that had been waiting outside her reply, Radiance had packed her things and jumped on a train to Ponyville; her home town, to talk to Twilight Sparkle.
The one pony who could help, she had travelled to another universe before; but it was unknown where she had travelled to, the guards had told their friends Twilight had travelled to another world which eventually became common knowledge that Twilight had travelled to another world, which is why Radiance was cutting her trip short and heading home to talk to Twilight.

Radiance hovered inside Twilight's crystal castle nervously, she had knocked; told Twilight about the letter and she had run off to Faust knows where and told Radiance to stay put.

That had been ten minutes ago.

"Twilight!" Radiance called out, tapping her hooves nervously. Her cloak swinging wildly as her wings flapped. "What Radiance?" Twilight asked, trotting into the room. "You left me here for ten minutes and I've had no idea what you've been doing!" "I've been setting up a portal so you can go to this magic school!" Twilight said excitedly.

"What?"
"That letter you got, it's for a magic school in a different universe. But you gathered that already, I've set up a portal using a magic mirror so you can go!"
"Twilight, please explain."
"Oh, sorry. I've set up a portal between our world and theirs so you can go between them, I want a full report when you get back."
"Uh, okay Twilight. Thanks, I'll grab my stuff and go then. If I remember I'll take notes." Radiance said, quite stunned.
"Okay Radiance, please try to remember to take notes. I want to learn about this new world!"

Radiance nodded and landed, she galloped out of the castle and headed for her cottage; a smallish thing but it was home.
Skidding to a stop in front of her house, Radiance hurried in and packed what she needed. Her stuffed teddy Button, half of her life's savings. A few gems for trading and her lucky red scarf. She packed her things into her grey saddlebags and pulled them on, she then fastened her cloak on and flew back to Twilight's castle at top speed.

Radiance used a cloak because she had no cutie mark, she had no idea why she didn't have one; but she didn't, which was why she had her cloak. It was extremely useful when she wanted to avoid ridicule.

Once she turned fifteen around 5 years ago, she realised she would never be getting her cutie mark; and so, she got the cloak made by Rarity. The only seamstress she trusted to keep her secret of why she wanted the cloak.

Not many knew of her predicament, but those who did; were sworn to secrecy, or so Radiance thought. In reality, the felt sorry for the pegasus and kept their mouths shut.

Radiance hit her max and the castle came up fast, and she ended up smashing through a window into a pile of pillows. "Huh?" She asked, climbing out of the pillows and onto the floor. Twilight came in and smiled. "Glad that came in handy." She commented before grabbing Radiance in her magic and flying off down the corridor.

"WHAAAAAA!" Was what was heard if you were in the castle that day.
