Forever and Always

Princess Celestia sat alone on her balcony. It was raining heavily. She looked down. Tears streamed slowly down her face. It had been a long day. Nothing could make her happy. She had Twilight, her older, faithful student, to take over today. She sighed, still crying heavily. Was life always this cruel? It had been years ago. So many years ago . . . she looked up at the moon. Nightmare Moon’s face was carved carefully into it. They had both been through so much together. Why did she have to be gone? She sighed slightly and looked back at her hooves. Her tail wrapped carefully around herself. She lay down and cried silently to herself. They had been together for so long. It had been many years ago, but she could still remember it like it was just yesterday. Her sister would be gone for another couple of years. She buried her head into her legs. Then she heard hoofsteps behind her. “Princess?” a familiar voice asked.
Celestia turned and saw the warm, purple unicorn behind her. She held an umbrella above her, and she looked worried. Her fur was dry and looked warm. “Princess what’re you doing here?” She walked forwards and put the umbrella over Celestia’s head.
The princess smiled a bit and looked into her student’s eyes. “I’m just thinking, Twilight. Now go inside. It’s cold out here.” Hypocrite she thought to herself, but she kept on smiling. Twilight didn’t look convinced. Celestia shakily sat up. “I’m fine, Twilight. Now please go inside. I’m gonna stay out a bit.”
Twilight sighed. “Sorry, Princess, but I’m not going inside.” She stayed where she was. Celestia smiled. She always loved her student’s strength. However, she shook her head.
“You don’t want to catch a cold do you?” she asked. She felt like an idiot. Twilight wasn’t stupid. She knew that something was wrong. She sighed slightly. “Twilight, please go inside. I promise I’ll come in in a little bit.”
Twilight sighed in defeat, and nodded before giving the princess the umbrella and running inside. Celestia smiled at this. She pulled the umbrella down and lay it down next to her. She then turned her attention back to the full moon. She took a deep breath. Though the clouds were covering it, she could still see it clearly. It was so bright, brighter than a star. It almost seemed brighter than the sun.
She smiled when a cool breeze hit her face, the rain still pouring into her cold fur. Then more tears took over. She looked down and lightly cried, thinking of all the things her younger sister had done together. She sniffled and breathed in shakily, trying to ignore the depression tugging lightly at her heart. She wanted it to leave, so badly. She turned her ears when she heard a voice. “T-Twilight, I thought I told you to go inside,” she said, lightly.
“Dearest sister, wherefore art thou crying?”
Celestia’s ears perked, and her head popped up. She turned to see her younger sister, staring at her with worried, sad eyes. “L-Luna!” she yelled, running towards her. However, her sister held up a hoof.
“I asked you a question, sister.” She looked intent to get the answer. “Please answer it, so I may help.”
Celestia looked down, her ears now flat against her head. “I-I never wanted to send you away. I-I just w-wanted to help y-you . . . I d-didn’t know that you’d leave . . .” The light pink alicorn’s head fell and she cried more. She then felt a warm hoof pull it up.
Luna stared deep into her eyes. “If you didn’t mean to, then why are crying, dear sister?”
This question made Celestia think hard. She didn’t think she could answer it. “I-I don’t kn-know . . .” Her eyes went down. She really didn’t know.
Luna only sighed. “You’re blaming yourself, my sister. You never meant to send me away. And you feel awful about it, so why cry over it? I am safe on the moon and I will always be in your heart.”
Celestia cried more. “I-I want you next to m-me. What I did is unforgivable. I don’t want to feel this guilt anymore. I don’t want you to be gone anymore.” She felt herself break down on the inside. “I just want to be happy with you.”
Luna only kissed her sister’s cheek carefully. “I will always love you, Tia. I forgive you for what you’ve done. I could never be mad at you. Please just wait for me. I will always be with you, forever and always. You did what had to be done. Please stop crying.” Suddenly she disappeared.
Celestia looked at where she was. She wiped away tears and started to walk back to her castle, thinking about what Luna had said. She walked inside; her hoofsteps were heard around the castle. Her soaking fur sadly drenched the floor, but she never really realized it. She kept walking and soon reached her room. She opened the door carefully and saw Twilight standing there. Celestia smiled slightly. “Princess, are you okay?” she asked, running towards her teacher. She grabbed a towel from the bathroom and draped it over Celestia’s back.
Celestia only smiled. “I’m fine Twilight. I’m just gonna take a warm bath and go to bed.” She stepped out of the way for Twilight to walk out. After that, she kicked off her shoes and lifted her crown of her head along with her with her necklace. She then walked into the bathroom and started the water in her bathtub. She let it fill up, still thinking about what her sister had said.
When the bath had filled, she smiled and stepped inside, sinking into the warm water. She smiled and closed her eyes a bit. Her sister would always be in her heart. She would always be next to her in her time of need. She would help her through with her problems. She would always be with her.
Forever and always.
