"Ooh ooh, I'm so excited! Are you excited because I'm excited, I'm so excited, why, if I was an excitement balloon, I would've already burst twice!" a hyper pink fluffy maned earth pony jumped up and down with a satisfying 'boing!' every time her hooves hit the wooden flooring of the train station.
"It's not that exciting, Pinkie Pie," a blue rainbow-maned pegasus said, rolling he eyes.
Pinkie Pie gasped. "What do you mean!?! You're cousin Lightning Storm and his friends are coming for a sleepover for ONE WHOLE WEEK!!!" Pinkie said, pushing her face into the poor pegasus'
"It is pretty exciting, Rainbow Dash," a purple unicorn said.
"You're just happy because one of Lightning's friends is an egghead just like you, Twilight" Rainbow said.
"What about Lightnin's other friend? Midnight was it?" An orange earth pony wearing a Stetson over her straw coloured mane asked.
"Yeah. He's a bit of an egghead too, though he's more into music. He's really nice. Burning is pretty cool too I guess," Rainbow explained. "And Flutters knows all about Lightning," Rainbow added,nudging the butter-yellow pegasus standing next to her, who blushed
"Oh, yes, he's a lot like Rainbow Dash actually. He's really nice and protective, though he has a bit of a temper..." Fluttershy said, blushing even more.
"What could be takin' Rarity so long?" the earth pony asked, looking around.
"Probably styling her mane. After all, 'A pony should always look absolutely fabulous, especially when making a first impression!'" Rainbow mocked Rarity's voice as her friends laughed.
"Excuse me Rainbow Dash, but I do not sound like that!" Everypony turned their heads to see a white unicorn with a curled purple mane with a purple bay dragon with green spikes by her side. "But you are right, a lady must look her best, even more so when meeting new ponies."
"Glad ya could come, Rarity," the earth pony commented.
"Oh be quiet Applejack," Rarity 'scolded', but her facial expression showed that she was just kidding.
At that moment, a train pulled into the station, whistle blowing. the doors opened as ponies of all shapes and sizes exited.
"Where are they, where are they!?!" Pinkie asked, with an excited smile on her face.
Rainbow Dash was also looking around. "There he is! Hey Lightning!"
A royal blue pegasus with a spiky golden mane and tail looked towards the group and flapped over. "Dash, what's up?" the stallion asked as he gave Rainbow a brohoof, followed by a series of hoof movement that nopony else understood. They couldn't help but realize how similar the cousins' cutie marks were. Lightning Storms was a dark grey cloud with a large yellow lightning bolt and 2 small ones coming out of it.
"Good to see you remember the secret hoof-shake, Storm my friend!" Rainbow said.
"I'd never forget it!" Lightning said. "Fluttershy, what's up?" he said, walking over to the pink-maned pegasus.
"Um, I've been good...I've met a lot more animal friends since i first moved in to Ponyville, and I'm kind of Ponyville's resident animal expert now," she told him.
Fluttershy gasped as she noticed something. "Lightning, what happened to your eye? she asked, pointing to the scar going through his eye.
"I just had some, uh, some troubles with a bully in college...he uh, had some issues, we'd had a bit of a rough and tumble but, one night,, he attacked me in my sleep with an knife. He's in prison now for attempted murder," Lightning explained.
Fluttershy gasped. "Are you OK Stormy, oh that must've been horrible!" Fluttershy kept fussing over the stallion, who blushed and said he was OK...five times.
"Seriously, I'm fine!" Lightning said. He stepped back and motioned towards his two friends. "Ladies, i would like to introduce you to my friends, Burning Sun," A red unicorn with a short, messy yellow mane and green eyes waved at the mares. His cutie mark was a small orange sun surrounded by green fire.
"And Midnight Blaze." He pointed at a darker blue pegasus with an unkempt dark blue mane with a black stripe. His cutie mark was a quaver (eighth note) surrounded by fire.
"Hi," he said awkwardly.
"HIYA! I'm Pinkie Pie, and this is Twilight Sparkle , Rarity, Applejack and Spike!" Pinkie said, motioning to her friends in turns.
"OMG a real life dragon!" Midnight said, zipping over to Spike. "I never thought I'd actually meet one!"
"I know, right!" Fluttershy joined the stallion.
Spike a crossed his arms and smirked proudly. "Yeah, I get that a lot!"
"And he talks!"
"I know, isn't he just adorable!"
"Y'know what would be more adorable..." Midnight reached back and plucked a feather from his wing, holding it threateningly in his mouth.
"G-guys...don't do thi-" Spike's was cut off as Midnight and Fluttershy tackled the poor dragon and Midnight began relentlessly tickling him. "Gah ha ha ha hah ha ha, st-ah-p it hah ha gu-ha-guys, seri-haha-ousl-he-y!" Unfortunately Spike's words fell on deaf hears as Midnight and Fluttershy continued to torture-I mean tickle him.
"Alright guys that's enough. We don't want him to suffocate," Twilight said, smiling.
After showing the boys around Ponyville, he girls decided that Lightning, Burning and Midnight would stay at the library as well as anyone else who could join them for a sleepover. Unfortunately Applejack, Rarity and Pinkie had other responsibilities so it was just Twilight Rainbow and Fluttershy.
"It's really nice of you to let us stay at your place Twilight," Burning said.
"Oh, it's fine! But I might not really follow my sleepover book this time, I don't think you boys would be a fan of makeovers!" Twilight said as she and Burning giggled
"Those too are getting along like...uh...where's AJ when you need a good metaphor!?!" Rainbow yelled, frustrated.
"Dude, calm down," Midnight said
"Look who's talking!" Lightning elbowed the significantly shorter stallion.
"Good point.." Midnight admitted, blushing in embarrassment and rubbing his foreleg sheepishly.
"Dinner time!" Fluttershy whisper-shouted as she as Spike brought out a nice soup with a tofu roast chicken.
In some places of Equestria and for some creatures like griffons things like chicken ans beef - some sort of meat made form cows - were delicacies. Ponies made this white stuff called 'tofu' as a substitute. It doesn't take exactly the same but pretty similar. Anyway, were getting off topic.
The ponies and dragon settled down in Twilight's living room and watched a few movies together before one by one they decided to head in for the night. Midnight, Lightning and Fluttershy were in the living room whilst Rainbow, Twilight and Burning were in Twilight's room.
"Are you sure you don't want my couch Midnight, I can sleep next to the fire if you want," Fluttershy offered.
"Seriously Fluttershy, it's fine, I prefer being near the fire anyway," Midnight reassured the shy pegasus.
Twilight only had 2 couches in the living room, so someone had to sleep on the floor. Midnight had imediately offered, though Fluttershy questioned it, Lightning seemed unfazed.
Midnight stretched as he curled up beside the fire. "'Night Fluttershy..."
"Um, goodnight..."
Fluttershy wasn't the only pegasus having trouble sleeping. Due to a lack of beds, 2 ponies had to share a bed. The obvious choice was Burning getting the bed to himself and Twilight and Rainbow sharing, due to Burning being, y'know, male. Right at this moment, Rainbow Dash was struggling to keep the blush of her face as the unicorn next to her seemingly slept. Eventually she managed to fall asleep...Twilight didn't though.
Twilight was awake the whole time. She just couldn't fall asleep! (come on, well all have those nights where you just can't sleep for seemingly no reason at all) Twilight heard a rustling behind her, and felt Rainbow shifting her position, but didn't think much of it and closed her eyes again, only to snap them open when a wing wrapped itself around her and pulled her close. a blush spread across her face and she looked behind her to see Rainbow Dash was hugging her in her sleep. Rainbow held her close to her chest an wrapped a hind leg over Twilight's legs.
'She is pretty soft...' Twilight could feel her eye-lids get heavier as she sunk into Rainbow's surprisingly soft fur.
"Goodnight Rainbow..."
