Chapter 4: Trixie Duels a God

After hearing that statement Twilight and her friends groaned in annoyance at the fact that Trixie didn't seem to learn from her defeats due to her own arrogance. "What does she want now?" Twilight groaned.
"I think I heard her say that she wants to duel you." Garrin said respectfully.
"Oh no, not this again!" Twilight shouted in annoyance at what was being asked of her.
"Why are you making a big deal about it?" Kai asked perplexed at Twilight's annoyance. "I think she wants to prove herself, so why won't you accept her request?" he asked still curious at Twilight's resentment.
"It's because she'll never learn her lesson. I've already beaten her twice before I became the princess of friendship!" Twilight exclaimed in frustration at the memories of beating Trixie at her own game without completely destroying the town. "Does that answer your question?" she asked.
"Yeah it answers my question, but you better make a decision quickly." Kai said before returning to the window to see a very pissed off sky blue unicorn mare with a platinum mane and tail wearing a purple wizard's hat and cloak with the symbol of a magic wand and crescent moon on her flank. "Because I think she looks pretty pissed that you're not obliging her request." he said with a sly smile spreading across his muzzle.
"Oh I see what you're doin'." Rainbow Dash said with a slight chuckle. "If you're so interested in this kind of thing, how 'bout you challenge her, I mean you are a god after all right?" she threw some of her trademark pride on the word 'god' to pique Trixie's interest if she was listening.
"Hey, that doesn't sound like a bad idea Dashie." Pinkie Pie exclaimed.
"Yes, that does sound like it would put her in her place once and for all!" Rarity shouted with a slight maniacal laugh.
"I said nothing of the sort, I'm just saying that she's eager to prove herself." Kai said with a stoic expression on his muzzle.
"But still, don't ya wanna try it for yourself?" Applejack asked.
"Perhaps, but if I do accept, then she'll be biting off more than she can chew, because unlike the lot of you, save your princesses, I cannot die!" Kai said throwing extra emphasis on 'cannot'.
"Even so why don't you do it instead of me?" Twilight asked curious about her new friends' extreme caution.
"Simple, I could end up eradicating her from existence with a basic spell, not to mention the fact that I have an unlimited amount of magic, my opponent only has a finite supply of it and it just doesn't seem fair." Kai stated matter-of-factly. "But since you really want to see what I'm capable of, then I'll do it." Kai said with a smirk.

Meanwhile, outside of the castle Trixie was getting rather impatient that she wasn't getting an answer from Twilight. "Confound it Sparkle, come out here and face me!" Trixie shouted hoping that Twilight could hear her.
"I'm sorry Trixie, but I'm not the one dueling you, my new friend is, and let's just say that you're in for a challenge." Twilight said smiling as widely as her face could allow.
"Fine then, let's see what this new friend of yours can do against the Great and Powerful Trixie!" Trixie shouted proudly to the heavens.
"Ya know she kind of reminds me of the infamous 'Wolf Queen of Solitude' Potema." Kai said whilst observing Trixie's confidence.
"Who's Potema? If you don't mind me asking that is." Fluttershy asked.
"Oh boy, I will tell you one thing Ms. Fluttershy, if there was a group of people that make horrible leaders of a kingdom, she is one of them." Kai said plainly.
"But what makes her so bad?" Princess Celestia asked.
"Well for one thing Potema never really cared for her own subjects, she used her son as a pawn to become Empress of Tamriel, she also practiced necromancy, and communed with the most cruel princes of the Daedric pantheon." Kai said holding a foreleg up imitating his normal hand counting on his fingers some of the terrible things that Potema had done throughout her time as the Queen of Solitude.
"Egad, that's just horrible!" Luna said completely appalled by what she had just heard. "Why would anypony use their own foal to gain political status, that's just so cruel!" she continued with rage evident in her voice.
"I know, I know, but do you know the most ironic thing about this is?" Kai asked with a smug smile on his face.
"No, what's that?" everypony in the room asked their newfound friend.
"The ironic thing is that Potema's the last remaining heiress of the Septim bloodline, so basically if she were alive today, she would by all rights be Empress, not to mention it was said that when her son was killed, she lost what was left of her humanity and began a hostile takeover bid for all of Tamriel." Kai said with a twisted smile. "How's that for ironic?" he asked his smile not leaving his face as they made their way to the door to meet Trixie.
"I have to say that's pretty ironic." Luna said to herself.
Shortly after their conversation was over, they all saw Trixie sitting on a rock near the door and yawned. "I see all of you took your sweet time, didn't you?" Trixie said after her yawn.
"Yeah so sorry about that, just wanted to get some things off my chest before we started, but enough idle prattle, let's duel!" Kai said excitedly.
"I couldn't agree more, but let's lay down the rules before we start." Trixie said.
"Name your terms Ms. Trixie." Kai said with a smile eager to hear the rules.
"Rule one: you can't kill your opponent, rule two: no outside intervention is permitted, and rule three: no using any extraordinary powers such as shape shifting, or enchanted arms or armor." Trixie said to her opponent. "How does that sound?" she aske.
"Sounds completely reasonable to me." Kai said with a shrug.
"Then let's duel!" Trixie shouted with enthusiasm for the events to come.

The two combatants stood at an equal distance so that they couldn't use anything other than magical attacks. Trixie made the first move by blasting a simple energy bolt at Kai. Kai concentrated and his horn glowed a dark red and a ward spell appeared in front of him blocking Trixie's attack. He lowered his ward and shot a fire ball at Trixie who dodged the projectile as it made an explosive impact on the ground. Trixie struck back by firing three energy bolts in a rapid succession to stagger her opponent, much to her dismay they were all blocked by Kai's ward spell. Kai concentrated once again pointing his horn towards the middle of the ground and a purple bolt of energy erupted in to a ethereal wolf that charged towards Trixie. Trixie was surprised that her opponent knew such a vast array of spells like these.
"I should probably ask him where he got all of his knowledge when this is over" Trixie thought to herself after evading and blasting the ethereal creature until it disappeared from sight.
"She's tough I'll give her that, but I think that's enough fooling around, time to show her how powerful I truly I am!" Kai thought to himself as he once again charged another summoning spell, but instead of an ethereal wolf, he summoned a Dremora and ordered it to attack Trixie. Trixie almost wanted to stop the duel right then and there, but that would be the coward's way out. Trixie stood her ground and fired a large bolt of energy at the creature and it practically disappeared from existence, but she didn't realize was that the Dremora was a distraction so that Kai could unleash a storm of lightning bolts erupting from his horn hitting Trixie directly in the horn making her unable to use anymore magic. Trixie fell to the ground in defeat, but before she fell into unconsciousness, she shouted "I yield, I yield!" at the top of her lungs hoping her opponent heard her.
"In that case, this duel is over, you fared better than I first thought young one, now then let's get you mended up." Kai said as he strode over to Trixie's unconscious form as he charged up a healing spell the would heal her wounds and restore her magic reserves.
"Thank you, that was quite entertaining, you really are better than Twilight." Trixie said as she opened her eyes to see her opponent extending a hoof to help her up.
"Think nothing of it." Kai said with a warm smile. "Besides, you have lasted far longer than any of the mages I fought back in my dimension." he said still retaining his smile.
"May I ask what your name is Great One?" Trixie asked practically kneeling before her opponent.
"My name is Kai, and I am the Daedric Prince of Morals." Kai said confidently.
"So what does this mean exactly?" Trixie asked in near terror that she may have done something incredibly dumb.
"It pretty much means that you just dueled a god from another dimension and lived to tell about it!" Rainbow Dash shouted.
"A g-g-od?" Trixie stuttered in both shock and disbelief at the cyan mare's statement. "I-is this true?" she asked trembling in fear.
"Yes it's true, but you shouldn't feel afraid of me I'm not a sore loser like some of the others are." Kai said placing a hoof on Trixie's chin and lifting her head to meet his gaze.
"What are you going to do with me?" Trixie shuddered as if she was going to be in serious danger.
"I'm going to grant you one of my artifacts for your efforts." Kai said with a smile. "I mean you stood your ground against a GOD and lived, you deserve a reward, I give you my ring, may it help you see past the lies of others and bring truth to your life." Kai said whilst placing his ring, The Ring of Insight on her horn.
"What does this mean?" Trixie asked a bit confused, but grateful for the gift.
"It means that you're one of my master's champions, Mistress." Garrin said enthused at the sight of Trixie receiving one of his master's treasured artifacts.
"How long do I stay Champion of the Ring?" Trixie asked.
"Until the day you depart from this life." Kai said with a smile on his muzzle.
"Then I will guard it with my life!" Trixie proclaimed with joy.
"I'm glad you like this arrangement may your life be filled with happiness." Kai said to his new champion.
