Pains

"L...Lessons? Th, that would be great, I would Love to! Oh yes please!" Sky answered

"That's great Sky. I hoped you would say yes." True responded "With all the bits we've been getting lately, i'm finally able to get a real mixing table, not just two scratch pads. This new table will have a whole tun of dials and switched, it should be here by the end of the week. It'll take a while, but I'm sure you can do it."

"Wow True." Sky stuttered. "I don't know what to say, thank you."

"Its not a problem Sky." He assured "It will be fun! Now hurry on home, I'm sure your mom's worrying about you again"

"Alright True... see ya." Sky mumbled as she walked off

True watched her go down the road then shrugged to himself "That kid... Can never tell what she's really thinking."

"The full impact of what True had said to me right there hadn't completely sunk in yet. About half way to home I just stopped in my tracks with pure bewilderment on my face... i can't remember any other when I was so happy...."

Vinyl looked down at her hooves with a faint smile on her face. She looked as if she could be in a completely isolated place just to herself. Utter bliss.

Grey broke the silence. "uhh Vinyl, are you ok?"

Vinyl jumped slightly. "Oh uh, ya fine, I was just thinking of a later part of the story... Uh lets get back to the story"

"After I finished yelling my brains out, I went home. but until the day the new table would come in, True would always play this one this one track, spin it the same way, scratch it the same way, wouldn't change a single thing about it. Whenever I asked him what the tune meant to him, he would always look away and say."

"Its something my old teacher taught me."

"Would say no more after that. It got me so confused every time, I would almost get mad. In hindsight really, that was probably one of the best anger control practice I've ever gotten. So finally this turn table comes in, and I'm all like, how bad could it be, the old only had an on and off switch, how many could this have? Right? Well. Oh. My. God, was I wrong. I don't think I could count that high yet. Ha Its kinda sad actually. We went to True's house for his teaching, Because, well obviously he's not gona teach me out on the streets right?"

"Alright, so I guess the best way to start is by showing you how to actually scratch a vinyl." True pronounced as he started his teachings. "Contrary to what its called, Your not actually scratching it, in fact its just the opposite, you really want to push as lightly as you can, just enough so that you can move it without putting any real pressure on it. Now give it a try... Perfect, on your first try to, god job Sky! Now you need to add all of the switched and levers in to. Hmm. I guess the best way for me to teach you is to tell you what each one is called and what is does, then let you play around with it... "

"That was how the weeks... then months went on, but soon I got good enough to start playing in front of other ponies, on the streets. I even picked up a couple tricks that True himself couldn't even do."

"AND THAT"S HOW THE LEGEND STARTED!" Grey interrupted again. "Its perfect, a simple country girl doing crazy stuff like this!"

"Heh. I guess I could have called it crazy back then to." Vinyl reminisced. "I loved every minuet of it though."

"Anyways, continue." Grey urged sitting at the edge of his seat.

"Alright." Vinyl continued. "A few years past, I was about 14, I had some pre-wrighten patterns and techniques I wanted to try out, and I had totally forgot them. I wasn't to far away from the town so I had time to run back and get them.
When I got back to True's house, I heard a familiar beat. it was the mix True used to play all the time. It was completely different though, this time he was doing it on the table, not just the two scratch pads. I decided to listen to it. As I got to the open door I could see all the passion he was putting into it. There wasn't a moment where he let up his pace, i was amazed, he was doing things that I never thought possible at the time. To put it simply, It was beautiful. a
After he finished, he slouched in a chair... and cried. He cried, the best person I knew ever, the person I looked up to, Idolized even, he was CRYING! I had no idea what to do, I was confused, scared, angry, I don't know what the hell I was, but all I knew right then was he needed me."

"Tr-True, whats wrong?"

True almost hit the roof with his jump. "Sky, what are you doing here, shouldn't you be long gone by now?"

"I came back because I forgot my sheet." Sky pointed her head head over to a real table in the corner of the room, without taking her eyes off of True. "That was amazing True, where did you learn to do all that?"

"Oh what that stuff, that's nothing, I'm sure you'll have that down in no time. Now here, take your sheet and leave, I'll see you tomorrow." He urged.

"Whats wrong True?" Sky asked.

"nothing's wrong Sky." He lied. "I promise, you just need to leave now."

"I'M NOT LEAVING TRUE!" Sky yelled demandingly.

He jumped back and stared crying some more. Sky walked up to him and put her hooves on his shoulders.

"True, I will never leave you, you're my best friend,. We've known each other for years now. You can trust me." Sky declared with a light but serious voice, looking right into Trues's eyes.

True looked at her, paused unsure what to do for a second.

"I...I,I..."

True dove into Sky's arms giving her the biggest hug either of them have had. His crying was uncontrollable now, but now it wasn't just a sad cry, there was a little hint of pride in his continuous sobs.

"Its ok true... I'm here, I wont leave, you'll never be alone again."
