The lovely life of Emerald Isle

Home (finally)

“So this is your place?” Crystal said as she and the others walked in, “Neato! Oh and thank you guys for letting us stay.”

“You are quite welcome!” Sweetie said as she imitated Rarity, then she and Crystal shared a laugh, “But seriously, it’s no problem. I love having friends over!” It was then that there was a knock at the door. “Excuse me.”

“So, what’s it like living here?” Chaos said after Rumble and Sweetie left the room, “I mean your parents are totally awesome!”

“To be honest, I don’t know,” Emerald said as she tried taking a few steps forward in the cast, “Mom and dad have only been married for a month.”

“Whoa, whoa, whoa,” Skyla said when she heard this, “So you’re telling me that you are adopted?”

“What, no!” Emerald said as she quickly turned her head toward Skyla, “Don’t say such a thing! I mean, yea mom and dad made a mistake, but that doesn’t mean that I’m mad at them! I get enough about being a mistake at school. There are these three kids, see; Ruby, Shine, and Silver Nugget. We officially crowned them the mean girls at school last year. When they found out that I was, as they call it, a ‘mistake,’ they never let it go! So when I miss something at the blackboard, they wait until recess to just say, ‘Oh, look guys, that’s the mistake that made the mistake!’ I just hate it!”

“I don’t think you’re a mistake,” Chaos said as he put a hoof on her shoulder, “Those girls are just mean! Don’t pay any attention to them.”

“Let me guess,” A mare said as she walked into the room, “Are these the children of the Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon?”

“Yes Aunt Apple Bloom,” Emerald said to the mare in the doorway, “Weren’t they the mean girls at the school when you guys went to school?”

“Yep,” Scootaloo said as she grabbed a marker from Emeralds box of art supplies, “Hold still, I want to write on your cast. Anyways, they were very mean, mean bees. They called Bloomy an orphan, Sweetie Squeaky Belle, and me a dodo.”

“Yea, but what about me,” Babs said as she came into the room, “Don’t you remember what happened when I ditched them in the mud? ‘You little’ not gonna say that, ‘I’ll get you for this!”

“Yea, I remember that,” Sweetie said as she grabbed the marker from Scoots, “That was the worst by far. Anyways, guys, I have tea downstairs, shall we?”

The girls headed downstairs after Sweetie gave the kids some games to play.

“Did the narrator just call me a kid?” asked Crystal.

“Narrator?” Emerald asked.

“Shh!” Skyla said, “Don’t ruin it!”

After about five games of Scrabble, three games of darts, four games of Racko, nine games of skip-bo; the kids were board out of their minds.

“What now?” Emerald asked as she put the last game away, “We played all the games I have.”

“Not all of them!” Chaos said as he got an idea, “Guys, I have an idea for a game! Alright, so Emerald sits on her bed right there and then she tells us where to put stuff from her boxes. The person who unpacks the most boxes gets a mega chocolate bar.”

“I’m in!” Emerald said as she skipped toward her bed, “If I get to boss you guys around, I’m game!”

“Hah, you would,” Crystal said as she got off the floor, “But I guess I’m in.”

“Well,” Skyla said as she got up and jumped on Crystals back, “If you all are doing it, so shall I!”

“Well,” Emerald said as she made herself comfortable on the bed, “With the three of you, this shouldn’t take long at all! And, begin!”

They all rushed to put stuff away. They all grabbed a box, and went to put it away. Emerald gave Chaos extra points because he put her desk together. When it was all said and done, Emerald had a room that was so neat and organized; she didn’t know where anything was.

“Wow!” She exclaimed as she looked at her room, “Look at this! Chaos, this was an awesome idea!”

“Thank you, thank you!” Chaos said as he took a bow.

“So,” Emerald said with a board expression on her face, “Now what?”

They all sighed; they had had so much fun that now they missed it.

“Wait!” Emerald exclaimed, “Mom still has some kitchen stuff that needs to be put away; we could do that!”

“You know,” Chaos said as he walked toward her, “I don’t know where you get these amazing ideas!”

They all headed downstairs, rushing to get to the stairs first. When they got to where the girls were they told them about their idea. Sweetie agreed to let them do this and just tell them where they put everything afterwards. Chaos made duct tape appear on the floor where they would put their boxes and made a sound like a gun. They all had fun rushing around the kitchen, going this way and that. When the last box was grabbed, the rest of them sat down to count their boxes.

“I got five!” Emerald said rather proud of herself.

“I got five too!” Chaos said as he showed Emerald his boxes.

“Yea, well I got six,” Crystal said as she showed her boxes, “Beat that!”

“I can!” Skyla said as she showed the boxes she had, “I have twelve boxes!”

They all congratulated her and it was then that they heard a knock at the door. Twilight had come to take the other kids back to the Crystal Empire and the rest of the CMC had to go home. When they all left and the house was quiet, Emerald was asleep. The next day, when she awoke, she hated the day already. Even though it was the week before last of school; today was the school play. It’s not that she didn’t like plays, she loved them! It’s just that she had managed to get the lead role that Silver Nugget had wanted so badly.

She pleaded with her mother to let her skip school until the play but Sweetie said no. When she got to school, she heard what she dreaded; Silver Nugget.

“Hey mistake!” Silver called to Emerald as she ran toward her, “I hope you came to tell Mrs. Cheerilee that you want to give the part of Marlon to me!”

“Sorry, but no,” Emerald said as she expected to be punched in the gut.

“What?!” Silver exploded, “How dare you defy me! Go tell her right now or suffer the consequences!”

“I- I- I won’t do it!” Emerald said as the playground went dead quiet.

“Oh, you asked for it punk!” Silver said as she threw a punch at Emerald; but the blow never came. Emerald looked at Silver and saw that she was punching at a little force field between her and Emerald. “How did that get there?” Emerald asked as she took her chance to run. She ran toward the schoolhouse where she knew she would be safe; but she ran into something. This something was tall and it looked down at Emerald. Its eyes opened and glowed at Emerald. And this terrified Emerald more than Silver. It then opened its mouth, and spoke.
